Installed CF rear spoiler

I am not the kinda of car guy that does mods to his car. I was on the fence but decided to put a rear spoiler on. I justified this to myself to help keep the additional HP from my friends at Eurocompulsion, to the rear wheels with a few more lbs of downforce. Easy install, nice product and looks great. Still getting use to the how wide/deep it is on the deck lid. Like the look from the rear. CF looks great with vulcano black paint. In any case if i change my mind it can be off in 10 minutes.

It is a Mophorn sourced thru Amazon. Something like $165 inc shipping. Came in 3 days . Surface is very good, it is CF, no plastic as i can see fiber threads full thickness of the material. Looked at madness and carbonplug but could not justify extra cost as they seem to be the same thing.

Not at all. There are at least 4 manufacturers. Keep in mind that some genuine CF is made with non-UV protected resin, and will yellow and/or crack over time.

SD Carbon: made in China. Uniformly praised for quality of craftsmanship and fit. Lowest cost. Shape differs somewhat from the QV design. Attaches with tape (easy diy). $250?

Yomato: made in Canada. Seems to have finish issues. Attaches with tape (easy diy). Say that they copied the QV part. $400?

Koshi (see Centerline and Madness): made in Kosovo. This is what I bought. Perfect fit and finish. Design appears to copy the QV part. Attaches with glue (hard diy, I paid a body shop to install it). Very light weight. $500? (I got it on sale, the regular price might be closer to $650). The challenge with using glue is to get the part down without smearing glue all over the trunk lid.

OEM QV spoiler. I think MacGeek posted the mfg a while back, but could be wrong. Somebody said something about needing to drill holes to attach. $1300? This is the only one on the list that is reasonably certain to have UV resistant resin.

It is not clear to me if the OP got a spoiler from yet another manufacturer. In the picture in post 1 the spoiler does not appear to exactly follow the curve of the trunk lid. Maybe an illusion, I dunno.

Spoilers pretty much always reduce drag thats why most cars have spoiler in basic line of the sheet metal (as does Giulia)....QV spoiler just pushes the air vortex even further behind the car....while exact numbers are not available just the fact that tail of the car collects lots less dust and grit after spoiler install confirms its functionality as far as moving vortex and reducing drag......

Do not expect any improvement in handling and traction, for that you need downforce inducing diffuser...and even that produces enough downforce to notice only at track or autobahn speeds lol

Booyah! That looks good. And it's cheaper than the fiberglass Touge Run spolier for my Miata! I wrapped it with a carbon effect which is now cracked. ;) I had to wait over a year but I have had it now for 3. The carbon version is over $300. Its pretty beefy but not too big. More in line with the duck tails of the Daytona cobras and Ferrari 250s.

I happened to park next to a Quad today and had a chance to do a direct comparison of my after market spoiler to his OEM spoiler.
Very different! The shape is different, as others have commented the OEM has a crisper line on the back side. Not a big deal to me. But there were a couple of other things that made me realize my knock off is a bit funky. My spoiler is much chunkier. All of the edges are tight and crisp on the OEM part. Way thicker and undulating edges on the knock off. Also the knock off is a bit wavy on the top surface while the OEM is suoer flat.

In all honesty the knock off looks a bit home made by some guys in china.....which is likely the case with the one i bought from Amazon. Now i am debating if i should keep the part on the car or take it off. You have to look close but the direct comparison makes a difference.

I think it looks great Joe, I wouldn't know unless you do a direct comparison as you say but I've never even seen a QV on that road yet. To be honest, I think I would like a little difference so it doesn't come across as 'wannabe QV' but certainly doesn't look like a bad job from the photos you took and that's coming from the guy who had the biggest carbon fiber wing known to man on his old car :D

I agree. As long as the product can hold its own quality so that there are no wonky looks, I would be happy with it. I am planning on getting one (once I have a car), and I don't think I want to spend tons of money on it, as long as the product holds its own quality.

Do you think your spoiler can be removed (the tape, etc.) without marring or damaging the finish ?? I'm seriously thinking about getting one, but if I decide I don't like it, would it be a problem to remove it ?

Thanks,

Tony

Have you gotten yours from Aliexpress? I ordered one, got confirmations and all that, got acknowledgement of receipt of payment, then this morning I get an email "your order has been cancelled due to lack of payment"

I have a white 2017 Giulia and I put the rear spoiler on. It looks great and and easy DIY. Less than $200 buck. Let it be known (don't yell) I've run it through the car wash without any incident.

I'll post some pics later.

Ciao,

Ray

Waiting on mine - it’s an OEM which needs holes drilled - the dealer shop here will only give it to their most trusted body shop, who’s full up at the mo. Grhh.
