There is one thing about dynos I can say definitively. Never once in the 36 years I have been doing this have I seen a dyno result end all arguments. At best they change the discussion from one argument to another. More dyno results just create more arguments. Even if we did exactly what Eagle said in the above post, dyno debates would continue.

Of course! That's what dynos are for don't you know. They add visuals to the tq, hp and bs which is such an important part of high performance motoring... especially the bs mod. :grin2:

I think I may get the V1 intake, the V2 sounds like a BOV, I just don't like that sound. No offense. I've had EC intakes on my Abarth and loved it, but that sound just bothers me. :[

I had a question about the EuroDrive though. Does it show on the flash counter or bypass it? My concern is bringing the car in for service and them seeing that it's been flashed 5 times, etc. Thanks!

Normally, OBDII flashing will step the flash counter (not every car increases in normal increments, and there are certain conditions for what steps the flash counter). Our direct flashing to the ECU on the bench does not.

I've been able to view the flash counter on every car we have tuned, but I do not see anything on the Giulia. And MultiECUscan (which can normally show you this information through the BCM) does not have an application for the MM10JA yet (at least last I checked).

So I would safely assume that it does increase the flash counter, even though I'm not 100% that it's even there (I will consult my Alfa mastertech friend). Normally the dealers don't view this information, in many cases it has to be accessed by a factory engineer, as it's normally protected by an intricate seed and key system. Out of all the FCA cars we have tuned and worked on, I've never had anyone have issues at the dealer because of flash counter retrieval.

Thanks for the reply. So basically if I revert back to stock before taking the car in, without access to the counter there would pretty much be no way for the dealer to know I flashed it? Is that correct? As far as updates go, if I revert back to stock and they have to do an update to the ECU or software update, what happens after I use the Eurodrive? Will those updates still be intact, and if I revert back to stock again, will it be with those updates or before those updates?

Hopefully that wasn't confusing or making you answer questions that were already answered. I've used unichip with your tunes and other upgrades on my Abarth and absolutely loved it. The Eurodrive wasn't available for my model year when I had my car, so I couldn't move to that step. Thanks!

No, that is an excellent question! This is why I recommend flashing the car back to stock before dealer visits.

If the dealer updates your ECU software, the handheld will not recognize the file signature on the ECU when compared with your original. However, if the car was flashed back to the original file beforehand, the handheld knows this, and reflects this status. Then, you can simply contact me, we will reset the handheld very easily, and you will have to re-read and generate a new ID file for the new ECU software. This is sent to me, and we create a new tune file for your car with the updated software.

This is why we take our own cars in often to receive the latest updates to ensure we are working on the latest software. With that said, our test car has had quite a few ECU reflashes from our tool, and the flash counter has never been an issue at the dealer. One of the cars even received warranty work (recall for a coolant seal replacement) with no issue. I don't believe this is something they're viewing in the service department.

I have the same concerns about the V1 vs V2 intake. I'll come back and try to provide more detailed feedback about sound differences and when they occur. I'll include some video as well if you like.

edit:
PM'd Chris about the sound of the V2 and this was his response:
In regards to the V2 sounds, they really only come to life under engine loads greater than 50%. Around town the sound levels will be similar to stock. The V1 intake system has noise levels similar to stock throughout the RPM band.

I've had the V2 intake for quite a while. Sound levels are nothing to worry about. You get to hear the turbo whoosh every once in a while in most driving situations. Even when I'm in Boy Racer mode it won't hurt your ears.

This package includes maintenance tunes for factory updates as well? How many or for how long?
Not sure exactly what you mean.

If you receive a software update, we update your files to the new software. This is something we have always done, free of charge, and there's no limit to how many times it can happen. Is that what you're asking?

Yes, thank you. That's very good to know and only adds to the value of the deal. :smile2:

I have similar concerns about my Giulia and the intake sounds. I don't really want my Giulia to sound like my 4C, but I do want all that extra power.

In my Alfa Romeo 4C, the stock exhaust & intake vent the wastegate and/or blowoff valve so they are audible. I love it! The harder I'm getting on it, the more she farts and burps like a schoolboy. But, when I'm driving in a lazy, relaxed mode, she's rather quite.

I think it's safe to assume that driving style will effect the intake & exhaust sounds of the Giulia as well.

Rest assured, it is not nearly as extreme as the V2 for the 4C lol (not even close). That thing is nuts. My radio volume can be as loud as my ears can bear (which is pretty loud), and I can STILL hear it loud and clear.

While the v2 might not be much louder under moderate throttle conditions, but you have to be okay with more noise. There’s more racket under there regardless of mode it but certainly prominent in d mode. In A it’s more racket in D you can tell it’s clearly nice intake sounds. Anything moderate throttle and up creates audible blow off which is cool but it is certainly louder than stock at all modes.

So who’s gonna be first to report on this tune in the wild...

Can’t wait!
As of yet, nobody has taken delivery. I'm not even sure how many have been ordered. I know of three including self. The install will take a while... and we'll have to wait on EC to send us the actual build file, err, tune, sorry... too much programming in my background.

My tune kit is in the mail. EC sent me an email saying so.
