Install got delayed for a week. Alfa in for service. Sunroof was making horrible creaking sound and paint was coming off inside of trunk , very strange. I have the install rescheduled for next Tuesday, assuming I get the car back by then . I’ll keep everyone posted

Hi all
Just had one of the carplay boxes arrive.
Kits arrived with the lvds fakra HSD connector at the wrong angle.
So I've had to unplug the white fakra HSD connector to allow connector to fit correctly onto the purple output. Sounds complicated but see attached picture.
I assume the white is going to the one of the USB ports.
Does anyone know for sure what the white green and blue connectors on the rear of the headunit do.

I may also need a pinout wiring diagram to debug why the kit is not working correctly.

Ok, this is how I see it as a perfect answer....

• It's WAY less expensive. You can get this working for around $200. At the moment, to get AA/ACP requires a complete head unit change which is thousands of dollars
• This has NO IMPACT to your car. Using the new head unit means dicking with your Giulia's interior which could result in other issues.
• With current mounting options, you could easily place a small touch screen just to the right of the infotainment and have a full version of AA/ACP operating
• Bluetooth connectivity in the infotainment means that this can use the system speakers while you still have your phone connected.
• Aesthetically speaking, this would be a slick solution. Most tablets can operate for hours without charging however, with a simple cable run/or mount with a wireless charger, you could have this siting just off to the side and get a full featured AA/ACP solution.
• Looking at this image, you could do a much smaller tablet and not impact the passenger at all.

Overall, I just don't care. I am happy with the infotainment as it is. Would I like it? Sure, if there was an easy solution for it to be installed. If @Alfissimo starts selling a USB accessory that gives me the service, I'd probably add it simply for the improved nav over the built-in nav. But other than that, it's not a big deal for me. I just feel like this solution answers the need a lot better than ripping out your infotainment.

Brilliant thank you, I've managed to get the carplay unit working.
Your diagram has confirmed the white connector is indeed for one of the USB ports.

The carplay box appears to work fine with box android auto and apple car play.
The control wheel actually works very well with android auto.
I'll test it more over the next few days

I've had to make a few modifications to the wiring and a couple of connectors. So from a hardware point of view it's ok.
I'm working with the manufacturer to make these changes to the final production unit and any software glitches I find over the next few weeks they will iron out with a update.
