Hi,

Your text here above summaries the reality.
Some people here declaring to be in love with AR are just trying to have their issue solved.
I can understand the finality of the operation but cannot approve the way to achieve it.

For information my car is 6 month old, never had a problem with engine, gearbox,.....
30 000 km today.
To be exhaustive, I consider some progress could be done in the infotainment system, but this is by far the best car I owned, even compared to my previous A6.
OK, the booth was better/larger and there was more room inside, but in my Giulia I feel safer, and this is the most important point IMHO.
30,000 km in 6 months? You, sir, are getting your money's worth!
It's a company car ?

Missed this poll but wanted to reply this thread with issue I had

Had same issue w my base at 7300 miles... been a month or so, so far so ,good...but my fuel pump, (had no idea at the time) quit at highway speed also...wanted to post my info to the poll but said it was closed. Alfa care was great and issue was quick to diagnose but still scary to have to deal with a flameout at 75mph...I equate this car to an F-16 fighter, it’s like a dream but you have to stay ahead of the jet, otherwise the best thing is EJECT, ( or call Alfa roadside)

I have one of the first Giulia's (got it way back in January of 2017), and I had it die on me yesterday.

I was driving on the highway going 80-85 perhaps, and all of the sudden the check engine light, and service electronic throttle control come up. This has happen many times before so it almost seemed normal, and I was going to pull over and use my obd2 reader to read the code. But just a few seconds after, the car suddenly shut off and rapidly slowed down to about 20 mph and then slowly slowed down from there. It was one of the most terrifying experiences because at the time of the stall I was trying to go into the emergency lane to pull over and read the code, and as I was going from the left lane to the right I was directly in front of a semi truck when the car died. I am not exaggerating when I say I was probably 25 feet from getting bit by the semi. After pulling over I tried to turn the car back on and it wouldn't start. You could hear the starter turning, but no ignition.

As I said this was one of the most terrifying experiences, and hope to get it resolved soon. My nearest alfa dealership is about 150 miles away (Nyle Maxwell Alfa Romeo Austin, TX). I will have it towed there later today, and I will keep everyone updated on what is happening.

I have attached a video of what Is happening right now when I try to start the car.

I’m not being sarcastic but does it have fuel? The gauge is a little off on the giulia. So it says a qtr tank but could be off. Not saying it’s the issue but maybe try putting some fuel in it before towing.

Anyone look into whether or not the fuel pickup or sender may be out of place? I just saw an episode of Restoration Garage last night and a New-Old 66 427 Cobra had wonky oil pressure. New pump was worn out (fresh rebuild), dipstick was way off (Taiwan-too long) and car only had a couple liters of oil in it. They discovered this by measuring fluid in the pan with the stick in place, in the parts washer. Upgraded to a high volume pump, regraduated the dipstick and put the 8 or 9 liters of oil it should have had from the get go. Bullet dodged, bottom end was OK. Only had a few miles on it.

Maybe the fuel pumps die from starvation+high pressure?

Hi pradeept08,

I am terribly sorry to hear that you had this experience in your Giulia. If you are in need of additional assistance while in service, please send us a private message.

A general question: If this does happen, are we supposed to do anything with/to the car on the roadside (switch to 'Neutral', etc) before it is towed?

Cheers

For those who have had the issue with the car stalling, contact me. 512-983-3339 or pradeep@austindroneworks.com

I have started to gather a group of people who has also had the same issue. I plan on being the class head for a class action lawsuit against Alfa Romeo concerning the matter. Would you like to take part as well?

All that I would need is that you write me a descriptive email regarding what happen to your car, and talk about how you don't feel safe driving that car. I will not disclose the names or any identifiable information about anyone who participates.

From the research that I have gathered, Alfa is already aware of the problem but they aren't actively fixing it. I have spoken to a few people who have had their cars replaced for the same issue. They even received $1200 for the "inconvenience" (hush money).

I would not advise that anyone send any private information to this individual. Class action lawsuits are run by law firms, not by individuals. My sense is that this person may use this information to bully Alfa into replacing his vehicle.

OP, you should work to lemon law your vehicle if you are having issues, or you should speak with a lawyer to start a class action lawsuit if you feel this is what you'd like to do. There are plenty of stories regarding this issue all over these forums.

I have already spoken with a lawyer about this. I may have not made that clear. I am 100% aware that class action law suits are run my law firms, but I was told to get any information that I could find about other people having the issues as well. You are correct in that nobody should send me personal information. I just need a description of what happen. I don’t need your name of any other personal info.
