Hi everyone, test drove a Giulia last night and loved it. More importantly, my wife loved it even more (!?!?) so reduces any home friction there, lol. I'm looking to lease. It's my first time leasing and I'm curious if this deal sounds reasonable. I have the full lease quote sheet if that's okay to share (?):

MSRP - 47,340 (Base model with a bunch of options)
Trade Equity + Down - 6,955

Money Factor - .00070
Residual Value - 24,143 / 51%
Terms - 36 mos / 10k per year
MA Sales / Excise Taxes - 6.25% / .1125%

Monthly Lease Pmt - $399 (including tax, w/o tax $375.50)

I've bought a decent amount of cars over the years and liked the salesman. Not too pushy and seemed to want to make us happy. Thanks in advance!

Your down payment is adding ~$200 per month to your monthly... I would never do this deal as I always try to limit down to just "drive offs" - about $1k in most situations.. $1k down in drive offs and a monthly of $450 - $480 would be a reasonable deal.

Two things:
1. you are putting nearly $7000 down as a cap cost reduction on a lease! that is a very bad move. It doesn't really save you any money (aside from a tiny bit of interest and tax) as you are just pre-paying part of the lease payments. What it does do it expose you to a non-trivial financial risk. If that car is totaled then you will not see a dime of the $6995 back. You are better off just putting that money in the bank and using it to make the monthly payments. As said above. you should generally avoid putting money down on a lease aside from the drive offs (fees, DMV registration etc.). Your payment isn't $399 it's really $593 and you are giving them $194/month up front.

2. It looks like they are marking up the money factor. The 36/10 base Giulia was .0004 for July. I don't think they have even released the August numbers yet.

see they google doc that someone compiles for the Giulia lease #

I would definitely shop around the lease

Thank you, very much appreciate the education around leasing. I need to do more homework and will work on the deal. Still want to find a way to get it :)

There may be new leasing numbers for August.. the deal may be different from what you got in July. I havent seen August number yet.

zero down in terms of cap cost reduction, drive offs of ~$1k, monthly payment of $510 or less. 12k miles per year..

I am looking at a Giulia in the Southern California area at MSRP $49,000. With all discounts and rebates the price will be $41,000. They are offering $0 down and $608/month (which includes the monthly $51 sales tax). There is $895 cap reduction rolled into the payments. I don't have the figure for all the other fees rolled into the payments but I do know that the dealer acquisition is $895.

The deal seems a little high per month but I wanted to get input from others.

That would be a great deal. However, unless he's in socal I doubt he'll get near that. Even then, sub-1% lease deals like this have not been attainable on the giulia. the residuals are just too low. Shoot for $550-560/month.

It's not a cap reduction if it's rolled into the payment. That's the whole point of a cap reduction-to pay some of the lease upfront to lower the monthly. Without knowing all of the fees rolled in it's otherwise hard to tell exactly how good of a deal this is.

Looks like they are marking up the acquisition fee by $300

I suggest you go and plug your full numbers into a lease calculator such a leasehackr.com to see all the different moving parts and where you might be able to reduce your monthly.

Right. In south Florida you would have as much success asking for that deal on a Quad as you would a Giulia Ti. Which is, zero point zero. Everyone wants the magic 1% payment. Consider yourself lucky if you can get 1.25%. Unless you are in Cali.

Perhaps they are calling an extra fee a "cap reduction" and rolling it into the payments because she clearly mentioned the fee as a "cap reduction".

I looked at leasehackr.com and it doesn't list "Alfa Romeo" as a selection under "make" in the calculator. Am I missing something?

Hi guys, I've been making progress on my deal. I switched to a slightly different Giulia, removing some options I don't want or need, new MSRP of $44,840. For $0 down/no cap reduction, ~$1k in drive offs, they are offering $475 per month (inclusive of sales and excise taxes--with no taxes included it's around $440). How's that look?

Ok so the MF is .00010. The discounted MSRP is $46,000 with an additional potential $4,500 in rebates. No other fees. Only $895 dealer acquisition fee, taxes and license. The residual is 62%. The drive off is zero. Any thoughts?

One last question, when people are saying they are getting $5k or more off MSRP, are they talking about straight discounts from the dealer before rebates are applied?
