Since the ‘18 race knobs are backordered for who knows how long, I just bought a regular ‘18 knob off eBay for the -sole- purpose of learning how to mod it so I can do it to my own with active suspension.
Get a good tip for your soldering iron, along with some magnifying glasses... they were very helpful.

There is also a small chance my current knob is the right kind... the only requires the removal of the plastic block... right?? I have the one with active suspension after all..
yeeahh, not sure. I think it was early 17's that may have had the lucky selectors. I really don't know though.

@JeFizz
Following your awesome guide. I was able to take the thing apart. I am not sure how to modify this piece to allow the extra rotation for race mode...

I wish I had a better pic, or a pic that comes anywhere close to showing what needs to be done... but there are two plastic tabs that stop the rotation of the dial, you cut them off. It may be in that pic you showed, but it's been so long I don't remember.

Maybe here?

Already removed those. Just realized I wasn't rotating hard enough, even when holding that single piece in hand it would't go all the way - there is another semi-click at the end that is a lot harder than the previous ones... you have to really want race mode.
Tomorrow I'll order the resistors.
Divide et impera...

So the plan is to see if the Arduino code + race mode selector = TC ESC off with active suspension, stock BCM etc?

Since the newest version rdna knob just sends out canbus commands, I would think in theory after completing the prosci that an arduino could put the car in Race mode without the rdna knob and/or just be able to send out an esc off command

I think the issue so far, from what i read here, on the Italian forum and the German one, is that there is no engine/pedal mapping for race mode in the factory software for the 2.0L and the 2.2L. I think the best would be to code an existing button to ESC off with an ODB dongle like the TAZER on the dodge and jeep cars. Honestly dyno mode is so annoying, having to get cables and a laptop from the trunk every time i need the nannies off. So another option would be to just make a dongle that sends just one command to the ABS computer to get in dyno mode, or program that command on an existing button (even if it means losing ABS too)

Whoa these things are tiny.
That is the side up right?
Do you put soldering material just on the sides or also a bit underneath (on the sides)?

Yeah, they're tiny... Getting some magnifying glasses is a great help.

Pre tin the solder pads.
Place the resistors on the solder pads.
Hold the resistors down with something and then heat the ends up with the iron.

Not to make fun of ANYONE, but I feel validated by your struggle. :)

If you haven't soldered SMC before, I suggest you watch some youtube videos and practice on some electronics from goodwill or something. It takes a little practice to get a feel for it.
