The Caliper bolts are one use only by Alfa specs. Some folks take a chance and apply locktite to them. The torque is substantial, making me question if those in the video are tight enough. You tighten to a torque then turn so-many degrees further, presumably to activate the thread lock. There is no "safety backup" for those bolts, so one coming loose can be a disaster. New OEM bolts have pressure activated one time use thread lock on them.

Most people need to use a tool to push back on the pistons. It is important to check the fluid level as you proceed, lest you overflow the brake reservoir. It is often better to push the pistons back using the old pads, so that you do not tear up your new pads with a tool.

I strongly recommend against smearing brake grease on the rotor, as was illustrated.

The caliper guide/securing pins. His video didn’t show him punching them out. It is my understanding that the OEM brake pads include new ones (per the parts guy at the dealership I use). Haven’t needed to do this yet. It is nice to see someone do a video but I also found this guide useful as well:

I would suggest a jack stand as well for extra safety.

With the understanding that people have reused the original bolts by wire brushing off the factory Loctite, and re-applying Loctite upon reinstallation, I ask the following;

Has anybody researched the Factory Part Numbers / Price Each for the one time use Caliper Bolts?

 

IIRC they are about $6 each, 4 parts required. Perhaps more importantly, remembering to order them before starting the work is required.

For a while in 2018 they were on backorder, but I think they are readily available now.

I use a soak in harsh solvent, such as brake clean or lacquer thinner, to remove the old thread lock. Wire brushing can mess up the surface of the steel threads and is a really bad idea on aluminum (e.g. the threads the bolt goes into on the hub).

 

decided to change the brakes and rotors on my 2018 Alfa romeo stelvio and after changing the front drivers sides brakes and rotors, I’ve been getting multiple service messages (such as; ats service required, power steering service, esc service, hill start assist service and a few more) also there is no fluid going to the front drivers side, if anyone has any idea what the problem might be I would greatly appreciate any help, I only changed the front drivers side so far since I got all those service messages I stopped what I was doing.

 

Must be break the brakes day. Copy/pasting what I just posted in another thread:

You have no pressure in the front left because when the system goes into failsafe mode it shuts down one of the front brakes and one of the rear brakes. You will need to clear the (leak detected) codes in the ABS module via multiecuscan/cables or have the dealer do it. You will not be able to properly bleed the brakes until this is done. In the future you must disconnect the battery and complete bleeding and reseating the pads before reconnecting the battery or you will have this happen again.

 

This is what I bought might be able to find it cheaper somewhere else but price does include a 1 year license for the multiecuscan software and of course you'll have to get what ever is required for the model car you have.
