I have not driven the KIA or the Hyundai and I am sure that they are fun cars but from a styling perspective alone the Giulia is in a different league. If you parked all three next to each other in their sportiest trims I think that most would think that the Alfa is the much more expensive car despite the similar price. Then you get to the driving dynamics of the Giulia which is one of the best I have driven.
I agree the Alfa looks better than most cars out there. BTW The Alfa in its sportiest trim (QV) is double the price of a stinger...45k vs 90k.

Agreed, I should have made myself clearer. I was referring to TI Sport trim vs their sportiest trim. The bottom line is that the Giulia TI Sport is the lower priced and similar looking sibling of a $90k car vs the highest level trim of a $40k car. Our cars are beautiful either way.

Agree. Giulia TI is just as good as the stinger performance wise but I would give Kia some credit. That car may not be a homerun out the box like the giulia was but it’s a good sign for the future of performance cars in next few years. These saloon cars are gonna be crazy in 2020-2021. As much as BMW and Mercedes hate to admit it, Alfa set the new standard.

Yep. The Bar has definitely been raised. When the next gen Giulia comes out it will be a whole new landscape. It makes you wonder how low they can go at this point performance wise. What will 50k cars be doing in 2021. It boggles the mind.

Scratched that itch tonight and took a Stinger for a test drive. You know, for science...

Wasn't as impressed as I thought I'd be. Feels/drives bigger than the Giulia (even though, on the inside, it doesn't seem to be), noisier, the engine's turbo lag considerably more noticeable. Didn't expect the handling to match Giulia's, and of course it didn't, but I did expect the V6 to be smoother than the TI's 4 cylinder: I was surprised it felt harsher and, overall, not that much more powerful (must be that extra turbo lag and the car's weight).

Not a bad drive, but definitely not in the same league.

Giulia vs Stinger

I'll wait until I get a chance to drive a stinger, but I have a hard time believing it would drive as well as the QV or regular Giulia. Japanese\Korean cars tend to be more Lexus-like in driving dynamics and feel, but I'll wait until I have a chance to drive one before making a final observation ....
I did drive a Stinger and a Giulia Quadrifoglio on the same Saturday morning and in normal traffic and comparable weather and in many respects the Stinger came close to the Giulia. The areas where the Giulia stands out is rear view visibility because the Stinger has a much smaller rear window and much more obstructive body work surrounding the window. The Quadrifoglio obviously has much more power and acceleration but in normal traffic conditions, that makes little difference.

I drove the kia myself two days ago and I agree: the stinger is more of a fast tourer, good on a highway if we had highways with german speed limits in US... the Giulia is much more a proper sport car, and it makes all the difference and you can feel it clearly.

Test drove the Stinger GT1 a few weeks ago and I have to say it is a d**n great car. The interior and features put my Alfa to shame. The seats are sooooooooo much nicer than the base seats in the Giulia.
The stinger is definitely heavier and feels bigger and less nimble than the Giulia but it still handles really well and that V6 just pulls.

My Giulia lease is up this month and I am seriously considering a Stinger. Also the new G20 3-series is much improved over the F30 and might get me back to BMW.

I have really enjoyed my Giulia but the tech sucks and is full of weird bugs. Also the Giulia leases are hot garbage now. They weren't great 2 years ago and have gotten worse. Unlikely I'll get into another this time around.

Have not driven it, but from what I have read it does not match the steering, ride/handling combination of the Alfas.

I wouldn't pay 50,000 for a Kia or even own one but I also wouldn't pay 50,000 for a Giulia. It's the used car market for me. The Japanese/Korean cars have some impressive reliability and there's the rub. Some of the most soulless cars I've driven have been Asian cars. Stepping inside some of the worst offenders feels more like confinement that sucks the joy from driving. When you have one of these cars that you feel embarrassed when people see you get out of it and it's so damn reliable you wish it would die so you could move on. I worked at the Mitsubishi plant for 27 years as a inspector/road tester. The Gallant was a good reliable car but it was one of those meh cars. I couldn't bring myself to buy one. My 2002 Passat blew away every generation before and after up until the Gallant stopped in 2012 If that's all you can afford there's no shame in owning something to get you here to there and that's what we did for years but as soon as we could climb the automotive ladder we did.

The early Eclispe/Talon/Laser's were a different story. The 2 liter double overhead cam turbo motor is still one of the best 2 liters ever made and was one of those cars that was a joy to drive. When you hear those stories of cars coming from the factory that ran so much better than others that were exactly the same are true. When you road test cars all day and one of the exceptions came up you knew it immediately. It would put a grin on your face and you'd think whoever gets this one is a lucky son of a gun.

I just happen to see this thread! Quick Intro: I own a white 2019 Alfa Romeo Giulia Q2 Ti Sport and live in Southern California. Love the car! Only Mod is a MagnaFlow Axle-back. California laws... don't want to mess with anything else really as of yet.

I see some videos of people getting 0 - 60 in 4.6 seconds...? Stock? Then more realistic ones in the low 5's which is what I'm getting. ~5.2 - 5.6.. depending on how I launch and the road I'm on, air temp...

I was racing a Dodge Charger R/T and had no problem. Then out of nowhere, this white car is behind me at the traffic light. So when the light turns red, I take off sorta quick, about half pedal, and this car is on my ass! So I signal to move over to the next lane because I wanted the race the Charger. I put my signal on and this white car turned into the other lane before I had a chance. So I hit the pedal then the white car did and starting pulling ahead of me when I had the advantage of going first and being 1/2 car length ahead. As it pulled ahead, I saw it was a AWD Kia Stinger... NEW... no license plates yet... 2020 (had the new Stinger logo for 2020). Holy Sh*t! That car is fast! Left me with my tail between my legs about several car lengths and I gave up.

Looked up the stats on that car and some stock time slips. 0 - 60 in 4.4 seconds 1/4 miles 12.8 to 13.1 range... stock! Even the AWD versions! That is no car to mess with people unless you're modified enough to take one on! They musta done something to the 2020 because this car was fast as hell, but it was brand new so I don't think there was any mods... no exhaust that's for sure, or CAI Intake noise. Beautiful looking car! Looks like what a Maserati Ghibli should of been; LOL!

My Alfa Giulia is the the best combination of steering, ride and handling that I have ever had. I will believe it can match my Giulia only when I drive it and I have proof.

steering and handling wise it’s most likely not on same level as Alfa. But power wise it can hang and pull away from any 2.0. I see modded ones with meth etc and they are only slightly slower straight line than a QV. But that’s also driver dependent. .1-.2 difference is usually a wash on streets.

True, but, for me, I do not need or want more power. My Giulia is in the same power range as a number of my previous cars (Porsche 944 Turbo, Audi S4, BMW 3 Series) and that has always been more than sufficient for me.

Also, the combination of steering feel, steering quickness, handling and ride, with plenty of power, is what makes the Alfa Giulia sublime for me.

I agree with everything except for plenty of power... it's okay.. I mean Honda Accord 2.0T 10 speed auto is on your ass civic type R you're at a loss... so I wouldn't say plenty of power... things have changed... 0 - 60 means nothing really ... it's more like 0 - 100 :) & forget about fooling around with Stangs and Camaros... I mean this latest GT Stang with PPKG is beating Porsche #'s in braking and handling??? Then there's the driver variable :p

I haven't seen such discussion in this section, which truly suprises me :)
ATM I believe new Stinger is rare example of a car, which may potentially drive, cost or be equipped better than Giulia
In Poland for the price of Ti version, you may choose 360hp Q4 car designed by one of the best M-Power designers looking like S7

Hard to pretend it can't compete

Cheaper versions are also bit stronger and slightly cheaper for value

I have a 2017 Ti Sport with almost every option and love it. I bought it in 2019. Last year we driver about 25 different cars/brands and ended up with a 2019 G70 with the 6cyl. They are both great cars and love the sporty/luxury of the G70, but the Alfa is so much more fun to drive. It is a playful car that loves to have fun. It feels so much lighter and more playful than the G70, but I love both of them. With that said, it isn’t the cheaper KIA model, but the bones are the same.
