Oh, boy... Are you going to get feedback....

I bought a used Giulia from a dealer about 50 miles away. This was not a problem for me. That dealer closed a few months ago. The nearest dealers are about 120 miles away. This may be a deal breaker.

I have just read in this forum that another dealer closed or is soon closing.

Not cool.

Hoping for the best, although I doubt a new Alfa dealership will open closer to me.

I live within four miles of an Alfa dealer located in Glenview, IL that opened in the last year or so. I went there to get an oil change that was surprisingly expensive. I received a message from someone at the dealership after I had picked up the car informing me that they found a small leak in the radiator and it would cost a bit over $2,000 to replace it. That was four months ago and I have seen no evidence of any leak nor has the temperature ever risen above normal in all driving conditions. Needless to say this has left a bad taste in my mouth, though all previous dealer experiences were average at best. I love my car but the dealer situation is awful. Given Alfa's niche role in the U.S., you can't afford anything less than great service priced fairly.

I have 2 dealers within 10 miles of my house. That said I use an independent shop for service. Its easier to get an appointment there, its a mile from my house, and the tech there was trained by Alfa and specializes in modern Alfas, Ferrari, etc. At the dealer its tough to get a quick appointment, and even tougher if you need a loaner.

If a dealer was more than 50 miles (or an hour) from my house I would reconsider ownership, and I don't blame folks in underserved areas for not considering Alfa.

Had 2 dealers in Colorado. The closest one closed down but I never went there for service as they weren't open on Saturdays, and one of the sales guys had an attitude that turned me off. The other dealer is about 20 miles away and has taken good care of me.
I change my own oil /plugs /filters as their costs are higher than I would like, but they have done warranty work and other repairs professionally.
My last repair service was about a month ago. They had a 2 week air for service and about 2 1/2 months if I wanted a loaner.
The repair ended up taking about 3 weeks with getting in parts over Thanksgiving holiday so they found me a loaner for the 2nd half of the repair time.

Same for me, the only dealer left is about 25mi from my house. Not a big deal but the lag time involved between calling for an appointment and actually getting one is quite concerning. It can takes weeks. However if this dealer goes under with selling and servicing Alfas then I am through with Alfa forever. That kills me because I've owned loved 3 in my life time but enough is enough.

Same as sjxc1097, given that we live in the same area. But we're very fortunate because the Boston area is relatively wealthy, and the Alfa dealers also sell other luxury cars, so there's good coverage. Other places, like Michigan, are much more dicey.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if there'll be a survivor bias embedded in these results; Giulia owners will preferentially live near their dealers or give up their cars if they can't.

I go to Schmelz now as Luther can take a flying f(*&^. I purchased and did most recalls and warranty work with Luther until they decided that they were done trying to fix my issues. Schmelz has been great.

This isn't entirely about accessibility, but looks like a good place to rant. When I purchased, I had several within a 30 mile radius but none closer than a 30 minute drive. Not bad. At least 2 have closed down since then. But the problem is the remaining official alfa dealers feel they can charge like it is for a bugatti. Simple maintenance like oil changes are at least double the cost that competitors like Mercedes charge. Getting through to service advisors was also a problem.

Maybe the question should be “how far are you from a dealer you feel is competent, trustworthy and competitively priced”?

I have a “dealer” within 33 miles. But in reality it’s just a crappy Dodge dealership with an Alfa showroom. Want service? Get treated like you own a Dodge Dart. Want a rental? You might get a crappy Jeep whatever it is. Service experience is so far off from BMW or Lexus it’s not even funny.

Only once I needed a loaner, and by that I mean they offered it to me as an option if I didn't want to wait an hour til my car was done. They gave me a BMW X3, nothing special but at least its decent and I admired their gesture.
I'm located in the middle of 4 Alfa dealers, all about 60-80 miles away from me but only dealt with one which I'm very happy with. This is in the GTA (Toronto, Canada) area.

While the distance isn’t very far for me living on an island, it’s actually getting in touch with a service manager. My dealer, Velocity, has only one single service manager. He rarely answers the phone and never calls back. I have to drive over there and set up an appointment in person. Often sitting in the lobby for 30-45 minutes before the service manager comes back to the desk to talk to me. The service is great and the manager is extremely polite and accommodating once I actually see him.
Edited to answer the question. The dealer is 22 miles away and it takes me 28 minutes to get there

My Giulia was bought used from Tucson Az (Larry Miller, now sells Chrysler only) and now in FL my local dealer (StepOne Alfa/Maserati of Pensacola) is 5 miles away. I have (IMHO) one of the best Alfa dealerships in the US. This company has a rather large number of dealerships all across the Southeast US and sells all sorts of different American and Imported makes.
