Thanks for the information. A $30 option could also be these ones from Weather-Tech at Costco. They are universal all-weather rubber mats with pre-cut areas to fit it at almost perfection.

Have you actually used those through an OH winter yet? I ask because it looks reasonable to expect those will let salty melt get to the carpet, where it then crystallizes into a white crust.

Of particular concern is slop running down the dead pedal and the absence of tub to prevent the grooves and channels from just dumping on the carpet.

Tubbed mats are the minimum for me, but I do really like my floor liners which offer front and rear full coverage (up the walls and over the rear hump) which I got on eBay from a China-direct supplier for $85, delivered. They are quilted padded vinyl, like a synthetic leather. They’re nice, but I take them out in the summer; Madness (and others) offer better quality sets which look good enough to probably keep in all the time. Actually, I got a set of the same ones I have for my partner’s Stelvio, with red stitching to match her red interior, and she leaves the eBay cheapies in year round, so it’s just a matter of taste and preference.

I just ordered these. I have the "ice" interior option with white/green stitching but my OEM mats have red stitching and honestly don't fit that well. I almost wonder if I got mats for the wrong car. First time in my life I'm excited to get new floor mats.

Yes, they entirely cover the dead pedal.

I received the full set on Saturday. Since I have a Lusso with the crema interior, I got the black. Because of the color difference, fit is important (to me). I am disappointed in both fit accuracy and coverage, particularly the driver mat.

I think this is their first (successful) attempt at mats for the front. When I checked in June, they only had mats for the back, suggesting some sort of problem.

I have not contacted Weathertech yet so will reserve additional comment until I hear back from them. After they respond, I will post photos (since this kind of stuff is as much opinion as fact).

 

That leather set looks great. I'd almost hate putting snowy, muddy feet on them though.

 

Interestingly enough, the passenger side transmission tunnel hump is the only area that fits perfectly. The laser measurement apparently worked in that area.

I will post the pictures laster today. The reason for holding back is to see if W-tech sent the "first try" mats by mistake. I assume that they measured once and did it wrong & that's why they were only selling the rear mat set.

Here you go. Weathertech liner photos installed in 2018 Ti Lusso AWD (crema interior & black liners).

As you can see, the mats are "short" on the seat end. That's probably more of a visual problem than a functional problem but for $205, the laser-measured liners should conform better.

The driver liner does not extend to the right of the gas pedal - that place where your wet footwear sometimes rests. The left edge of the driver liner is about a 1/2 inch too tall so might be a spot that your shoes catch entering the car. Probably not a big deal but not a "laser-measured" fit.

As I said in my original post, the problem is the carpet color. If I had black carpet, it wouldn't be so obvious and I would probably be over it.

My alternate choice was going to be Tuxmat. The photos of their liners show better coverage/protection but I don't know how their materials compare to W-Tech. I went with W-Tech because of their reputation. I never heard of Tuxmat until a couple months ago.

The coverage is not terrible, but not great. I have a particularly difficult time with the short dead pedal and passenger front footwell heights.

The factory mats are similarly short on the seat end. Dunno why.

I agree that, for the money particularly, something better is expected from such an esteemed brand.

I’ve seen the Tuxmats in person, and they are more than nice, they’re elegant.

 

I've had WeatherTech in the past, decided to go with them again. Went to order on line, they wanted $18 shipping. I discovered they have a showroom in Bolingbrook, IL, a south suburb of Chicago, and since I had to visit a client out that way, I placed my order in person. They cover beautifully, and I paid $179 plus tax, well worth it. Protects everything, snug fit. I sound like a freaking commercial.

I purchased my Giulia in June. I couldn't find any mats that actually fit the floorwell, so I made my own. Although not useful for winter, it worked quite well this summer. I plan to use them again next summer. I might tune the shape a bit near the gas pedal.

For comparison, I show the original mat on top of the mat I made.

Anyway, I made a cardboard template, bought a piece of cheap carpet, cut it with scissors & installed.

If I can do this without a laser to measure the floor, why can't laser measurement to better than this?

 

Nice work. Does the proximity of the mat to the seat rails impede forward seat movement? It is a mystery to me why the factory mats, and others like Weathertech, are so far ahead of the rails. Besides providing poor protection, it just looks silly. “Laser measure”?? Haha. Riiiiiight...

 

From those pictures I'm pretty unimpressed with WeatherTechs "laser measured" liner. On top of that I am also very put off by WeatherTechs customer service considering they consistently told multiple forum members over a year ago that the mats would be ready in 2-3 weeks time...

Needless to say I've had their mats before and they are nice quality, but I'm not motivated to give them any business this time around with the Giulia. For around the same price, the Tuxmats look like they provide superior coverage so I'm going to give those a try.

 

The W-Tech mats do not impede forward motion of the seats (if you are thinking that that's why they aren't a snug fit around the rails).

 

No, that’s not why I was thinking the WeatherTech are not a snug fit at the rails. They’re *obviously* cut excessively short even if that’s the concern.

I have $85, no-brand eBay floor liners direct from China which fit much more closely yet do not impede seat movement forward, at least not for my 5’5” wife’s seat position, which overruns the mat a bit.

 

For me, I rest the heel of my shoe on the ridge where the dloor comes up. Without protection there, the mats are not as worthy. The tux cones up and over the ridge?

Nice mats. I went with the Armoral universals for SUVs available at Pep Boys and the other shops. Get the CUV/SUV size with the Dodge lines on them and trim to fit. Most mats will leave room around the rails and it looks worse with the auto retract system on the Giulia, driver's side. I was happy that my mats were easily available and an good fit WITH a 1/2 inch lip to hold liquid. I also pin striped them to match my Green and White stitching. Turns out the Alfa mats have the colors reversed from interior trim to floor mat, but mine match the trim and I am happy with how they turned out. I also added and extra coat of clear because the summer heat was making the green model paint melt and get sticky. It was old paint but is fine now. Actually got a pin striping brush when I did the clear. Much easier than a 00 model brush.

I have actually kept them in all year with the stock ones in the trunk.

 

Still not sure exactly where in front of the seat you mean but I don't see any problem in that area at all.

 

Ok. If you have your foot on the pedal and drag you foot straight back, you get to a rise in the floor. That is what I am referring to and what I hook my heel on.

 

I had to go take a look. Yes, the floor well slants up from the pedal back. I never really noticed and never had my shoe catching on that area. I see no issues with the W-Tech mats in this area.

 

Just received an email from WeatherTech - "...We’re happy to let you know that Laser Measured FloorLiners for 2017-2018 Alfa Romeo Giulia are now available!".

I emailed them yesterday about these same mats with photos (posted yesterday) questioning that "laser measured" thing. Have yet to hear back.

 

Thanks. True. I angle my knee to the right so the outside right side heel hooks on the hump on the outer edge. I only do that to rest my leg instead of being tensed while in cruise control on my 400+ mile days on the highways.

 

Yeah, I was going to ask you how you worked the gas pedal with your heel catching on the spot almost a foot away from the pedal. First I thought you had mighty large feet but then I remembered cruise-control!

 

Thanks for sharing the photos. I just saw the email from WT stating that the AWD mats were finally ready. I, too, have a Lusso with the Crema interior. Looking at the pictures, I feel I would be disappointed as well. Please keep us updated if WT provides any update as to revised fit, etc.

 

Will do. I posted the photos more for those with the Crema interior, (but yes, I am bothered by the "laser-measured" marketing). Others have posted other alternatives...all very nice but black-on-black makes the edges of the mats blend in so not so noticeable. With dark mats on the light carpet, the misfit just shows up. I guess the Lusso Cream "fix" is to never look down!

 

Here some pic's of the $29.99 Weather-Tech Universal all weather mats (sold at Costco). They come pre-cut. Cutting wherever you decide, the fit is very good. Just a low expensive option while original Alfa ones come out, someday, hopefully.

I discovered this weekend that the stock floor mats hold water just fine. Don't carry a snap on top 1 gallon water bottle in the car, get a screw top bottle <sigh>.

Anyway with 1 gallon of water dumped into the front passenger side footwell, I discovered:

Some of it dripped out near the drive shaft tunnel.

I removed the front floor mat (serious Velcro on the rear of that) and it did not seem very wet but did seem oddly heavy. Holding the front edge of the mat and hefting to vertical, around a quart of water ran out of it!

Most of the rest I sopped up using a whole roll of paper towels.
There is a cavity underneath the seat and water pooled there. At least that area was fairly easy to sop up.

At least it was clean, RO water...

 

For anyone who is considering, do not order the Worth-Mats from Amazon:
I tried a set of these out and they don't fit right. I returned them. Also I ordered black with red stitching, but the ones that arrived had black stitching.
