When you see the incredible amount of complexity, interaction between computerized equipment and humans, the communication they all constantly engage in during the entire process in order to make these vehicles, I marvel that we can buy these for under $50k. All that had to be designed and built first, before they could make a single car. What an achievement.

You know, if they weren't always getting espresso break notifications on their watches, maybe they wouldn't miss things. :p

Reminds me of the last time I went to the doctor. He rarely looked at me. Too busy looking at his computer monitor.

I guess all this process verification is necessary for a low volume vehicle like the A/R. Each operator has to perform a large number steps and it's easy to forget one.

I thought that due to repetitive stress injury issues, having assembly line workers do a single task all day long was a thing of the past.

My Dodge pickup had assembly errors, not the least of which was a missing bolt to attach the driver's door. Check lists are probably a good thing on any production line although workmen can still check things off without doing them and/or do a sloppy job of the task (several reports of loose electrical connectors on Giulia).
