Do you have the key on you when you try to open the trunk from the rear button? It won't open even if the key is in the car for security purposes. I know I've left my key in the car a couple of times and tried to pop the trunk from outside, just a thought.
Unrelated, but the placement of the trunk release button inside of the cabin is actually really infuriating and is probably my biggest (and only) gripe with the interior layout. Who the hell puts a trunk release in a position you can't even reach while sitting in the driver's seat? Even GM doesn't make mistakes like that.

Remember when trunk release buttons were mostly found inside the glove box?

 

still nothing i wonder if theres wiring diagrams or if i should replace the buttons

 

Problem solved it was where the cables run through the trunk and down the left side under the plastics stuff friction just chopped it

 

My car is currently at the dealer to get this repaired. Thank goodness for Max Care warranty.

 

In case any one was wondering. The car has been at the dealer for about 14 days now because the part was unavailable. They finally found one and it is scheduled to arrive at the dealer on the 15th.
