Located in miami Fl. Has anyone put their QV on Turo? I bought my third one a few months ago at 20k off sticker. Overall, the deal was too good to pass up given the discount and what they gave me on my trade.(which by the way, they are now trying to sell for 2K under what they paid me.) But damn The QV is black and I really wanted Verde or Etna. So I’m thinking of putting it on Turo and wondering if anyone else has done it as a host or rented one on and how much I should list for if I decide to do it.

Then I’ll get a green one. 😂

I will regale you with my first, and last, Turo experience.

Was going to go camping and figured I'd Turo a pickup truck for all our stuff instead of being packed like sardines in my girlfriend's Camry like we usually do. Get an Uber to take me across town to the guy's house, about 2 minutes away, the host calls to let me know the previous renter had not returned the truck, I tell him I'm almost there and I'll talk to him there. Get there to find out the previous person had not returned it the night before as expected, and had gone so far as to disable the OnStar on the truck. That truck was in the wind.

If that's a risk you want to take, you do you.

You want to Turo a QV...in Miami? I guess you really don't like that car lol

Well...
While I am a person who respects others property, returns borrowed/rented vehicles with a full tank of gas, and doesn't abuse cars as a general rule... You will be effectively loaning your car to the lowest common denominator.

You'll get people who want to channel their internal Ricky Bobby (I just wanna go fast!) who have more than likely never driven anything faster than a rental spec Ford Fusion.

I don't know how well your car insurance covers use by a renter, but you'd want to look into that as well.

I understand wanting a different color, but do you really want to expose a wonderful car to the potential torture of a bunch of ham handed morons who will rev it to the moon in race mode with the engine still cold while spilling their Big Gulp in the center console when their baby momma leans over to slap them for whistling at the girl they see in the BMW next to them?

Don't do it. You'll regret it as that car will be abused and if someone inexperienced puts it into Race Mode, it'll get totaled. That's even if you put on a high enough daily rate... folks will abuse the hell outta that car. If it were a regualr Giulia, I'd say go for it simply because you cannot turn off traction control in that model. Too risky with a QV, unless you're prepared to take a full loss on it as a possiblity.

Interestingly enough my first time ever getting to drive a QV was on Turo in Hawaii. I had wanted a QV for so long and never was able to test drive one. So every time I ever traveled and needed a car I'd always check Turo first. This was over the course of about 6 years. I only ever saw 3, one in Huston, the one I got in Hawaii and then one in Seattle. So they are rare.

The owner of course was an enthusiast and when he delivered it we talked for a long time about the car, this experience led me to accelerate the TL on my purchase. I spoke to him about his experience and he said the key things were that he priced the car high enough to weed out anyone who would potentially abuse the car. He then told me that anyone who ever rented that car was a lover of the car, like me specifically looked for the QV and he never had any issues with renting it.

In a city like Miami I feel you get either a person who just wants a cheap car to get around or someone who wants to flex and grab attention on the strip. Lets just be honest nobody is renting a QV for attention. 99% of women have no idea what this car is and Id say 70% of all people have no idea what it is or its potential.

In my opinion if your car was on Turo it'd be rented by people who truly want to experience what the QV has to offer. Not to flex or drive around like a mad man. With all that being said get good insurance because Florida drivers in general are something else haha.

I thought about every single thing everyone here has said. Including wrapping it. I don’t know, it’s just something about having the stock color that attracts me. Chances are I won’t do it. But I’m thinking about it. Pic for attention. lol. I just feel the black is too stealthy, which is not a terrible thing I guess. Especially as @Dondolo_Theman says. Most people don’t know where it is anyway. It does have the carbon buckets and carbon roof which is a plus. Would be hard to find a green one with same spec.

I would never give out my QV on Turo, or anywhere else, to anyone else! But that's because I love my car. Regardless if you end up doing it, charge very high amount, do they go by hour or day use? I would charge like $500 a day and advertise it as a super car 4 door sedan. A lot of people may be intrigued by that and decide to give it a try.
Also have very good insurance coverage, because for example if anyone destroys the active aero, that's a few grand right there to fix. Or curb the wheels, kill a tire, everything is costly to repair on this car as you may know.

Looking at your pic of your QV, I think it looks awesome the way it sits, so maybe reconsider the whole Turo thing lol

My plan was to get a green one. But the more I thought about it, I didn’t want the car to stand out and draw to much attention. Landed up going with Vulcano black and like the stealthiness. I think it may be hard to find a green one in the specs you are looking for. Plus, it seems they are not discounting them as much right now either. Good luck with your decision though.
Quick search of the country shows 14 new and used Verdes available. Not with the specs you currently have.

I actually reached out to them when I got the car in February and got a sample. It had lots of orange peel. I contemplated the new colored PPF’s which are much more glossy with zero orange peel. But the quotes I was getting were close to 10 grand. I thought that was excessive. Maybe I’ll wait a year or two and see if prices come down on those colored PPF and do it then.

Move to central Ohio and turo it here. I look all the time for good Turo cars for track days. Turo is way cheaper than replacing melted tires and brakes.

Deleting my Turo profile immediately :D

Back to the primary topic — why not just get a throttle controller and limit things a bit? If it’s tucked away, no one will know it’s there and if they’re smart enough to figure out what’s up and disconnect it, chances are they may be experienced enough to take it to the track lmao

I’d love to see someone Turo the 4C — people would literally have no idea what they’re in for. Particularly when they go to parallel park it.

All that being said personally I wouldn't put my QV on Turo. It means too much to me. I waited too long to get the Spec I wanted. If you don't care too much about small scratches, wear on the car and plan on getting a new one then yeah go for it.

Also taking a car you rent on TURO to the track is prohibited and you will be held liable if the owner finds out, and I guess can prove it. Unless they approve it of have it in the listing.

Having grown up with Herbie from "the Love Bug" dear to my heart, I can totally picture the scene where Herbie was jealous of the brand new Lamborghini Jim Douglas bought when he thought "he" was winning the races.

Also, in a reality accepting statement, I know everyone thinks, "Insurance will cover it, the dealership will cover it, no worries". In reality, it's such a slow, painful process no matter what. Even if the insurance the owner of the car has is decent, there's still a lag in the payment. Then, does the owner have gap coverage? Agreed value coverage?

The dealership also factors in. They're on the hook, so they have to pay the owner's insurance for the claim. Then, they have to also pay for the other cars ruined (the display Ferrari, the Hellcat which may be dealer owned or another owner's personal vehicle) and whatever other cars are hit.

But how does the dealer make that right? Lets say they're the only Alfa dealer in that person's area. Would you ever trust them to work on another car of yours again? Yeah, situations like that are rare, but it shows that just because you're at a luxury dealer doesn't mean they hire quality employees who care for the people's cars.

But can you get the probability of a renter causing you significant loss?
Is your car properly insured against such loss, by Turo, or some insurance company, or some insurance that the renter must buy or ???

I know when I rent a car my home car insurance applies. Of course, your car insurance may differ.

This conversation reminds me of a situation we ran into a few years ago. Ended up owning 2 small houses, side by side, in our small home town. What to do? We could keep them and rent them out for a few years; probably would have made financial sense. But... We didn't want to be landlords. Just not in our nature. Same deal for a car on Turo. If you want to play that game, go ahead! If not, don't! It sounds like too much work and stress for me.

Why not just sell the vb and get the vm, and skip turo altogether

I once considered buying a QV and placing on Turo to pay for itself. Yet, not having extra garage space between rentals and hefty Turo fees led to no go. I did see a few QV in various cities on Turo, none now. The rates charged were modest, not near $500. I do wish I had snagged a rental in a local 4C before current unavailable status.
