Bottom line, most car salesmen suck. I have had to sell myself the car about 90% of the time, and have never met one who knew more about it than I did, which begs the question, do they even read the brochures?

I can understand your disappointment, but you will have to console yourself with the fact that the Alfa is far superior than a Mini in every possible way, and regarding acceleration, it is easily 1.5-2.0 seconds quicker to 60MPH.

Basically, go to a different dealership, or speak with another salesman or the sales manager. Keep this in perspective: you are only taking home the car not the saleman. After a few days of spirited driving, you'll be very glad you overlooked the sales process and just focused on the car. Good luck!

^ thanks. I think I'm moving away from the MINI JCW although I did find a Youtube video that shows a 0-60 time at 5.8 sec (which after driving I totally believe).

I'm going to test drive the S3 and GLA45 soon. I could very well just opt for the Ti but I'll need some more time behind the wheel.

Amen 100%... The car is what I'm interested in not the salesman or dealer... worst case scenario I have to bite my lip and deal with them a few times per year when I need to take a car in for service. I've also never met a salesman who knew more than I did as well

The S3 is also on my list and would be the 'lower risk' alternative to me (not worried about reliability or maintenance and VERY familiar with Audis, family owned Audis forever) but the S3 is just too small for the money, at least for me. The GLA, like most Mercs these days, is absolutely disgusting but at least it would be quick. The Giulia can do 0-60 in 5.1 with the Q4

Did you end up driving it in the snow? The roads weren't too bad today, but there was more snow up my way than I thought, about 10 inches
As a matter of fact, I just got back from Kelly's.

I called them up ahead of time and made sure they were open and had a Giulia to test drive.

I showed up at the dealership, Brandon met me and then introduced me to another salesperson to go along with me for a spin in the Ti.

We quickly got on the freeway and opened her up..... Before I knew it, we were well beyond 65mph..

Overall I loved the car, the size of it. It just feels nice and tight, it cornered impressively well even in slushy conditions. I was pushing it quite a lot on the ramps, but the rear never broke loose and gave me a secure sense of stability (although my passenger would probably beg to differ:smile2:).

The only factors I wasn't amazed with were the fact that the Ti didn't have paddle shifters and for me that is a must in order to increase the enjoyment level, couldn't shut the traction control off and at least in my hands, the 280HP motor seemed to suffer from a bit of turbo lag in the mid range (paddles probably would have helped a little). This is purely my opinion especially when DD higher powered cars.

I know that the QV has the paddles, TC off button and 505HP so the "issues" I encountered with the Ti will be resolved when I order the QV....... Although they had no brochures on it, and no idea when the next shipment (if any) of QV will arrive.....

I am convinced the Giulia is an awesome vehicle, no matter which models one gets......

Cheers!

funny my salesman was very good...but the service side of the dealership was an absolute horror....they are just in way over their head....
at the end of the day the reality is that dealerships reflect the ownership/management and not the brand itself...however as brand representatives they can sour people on the brand by how they treat them....
personally I shop the service side of a dealership more than the sales side...as @mc3456 said 9 times out of 10 I know more about the car I'm interested in than the sales rep. What I am looking for from the rep is the enthusiasm & willingness to take care of his client...
in my case I was in a bind if I wanted the car I knew that going to the place with the absolute best service would not get me the QV....so I went to "the other" guy...got the car but the service was a mess...not that I was expecting to test their service so quickly:D....
I can see how getting a test drive in a QV may be difficult to impossible...just because of the low production numbers....right now....
a TD of a Giulia Ti should not even be a question....they should be tossing keys left and right to generate a buzz and goodwill...

Just so you know you can get a Ti with paddles ($1200 sport package I believe is the cheapest way to get paddles) and many come equipped with them, the one I drove had them and they are one of my only 'musts' for the car when I buy. Congrats on driving and so glad to see you enjoyed it

Yes sport package! Was any of these Ti's a Q4 all wheel drive test drive in the snow?

The Ti I drove earlier this week had the paddle shifters (which I used) and I thought the transmission was terrific. My biggest grip was how quite the car was - almost zero exhaust noise and although I'm not looking to be a hooligan - a nice exhaust note helps connect the driver with the car. The Ti was suffering in this department.

Of course the one (major) caveat was my super short (4 mi) test drive. I have a feeling the exhaust note picks up with the car in Dynamic mode.

For what it's worth, the S3 is going be a very tough competitor for Giulia Ti.....
The S3 felt a bit quicker of the line and can be ordered with an intoxicating exhaust sound....
Although, It didn't feel as a agile as the Giulia.....

Biggest difference is size. The car is tiny, therefore not in the same category for comparison other than price and fun factor

I found the exact same thing. I put it into dynamic and while it piped up a little it wasn't as much as I'd like. If the Abarth 500 or 4C can sound like what they sound like, why can't the Giulia? There is a lot of potential but the average 3 Series, A4, C300 buyer isn't looking for a screamer -- but I know exactly what you mean

All good comments here. I've had my Ti AWD for 3 weeks (got it at Kelly).. I agree the exhaust sound is lacking, but the driving experience overall is superb. I pretty much leave it in dynamic mode unless I'm on a longer highway stretch. I have never driven an S3, but I came out of an S4. Don't forget to to compare not only the driving experience, but the aesthetics of the cars both inside and out. I think the Giulia wins that one hands down. Not even in the same conversation.

Agreed 100%! ( The fact that I'm Italian doesn't make me biased) :grin2:

Kelly Alfa and Alfa of Millbury both have a similar Vulcano Black QV for $77k, and Central Alfa has a loaded Rosso Competizione QV w/CCM brakes for about $88k. If you want one right away, there are your choices.

Kelly's QV is gone, I might check out the other 2 dealers just to actually see it, but will eventually build and order it at some point later in the year..... Thanks for the info.
