Very strange. Clean lines, cohesive design, and well used colors/materials, yet it is fugly? I think you're just upset about it being an EV.

This is ugly...

Of course the battery is the issue. That is the nature of the beast. EVs have batteries that are heavy and do not get lighter as they are used (unlike a gas tank).

M5 CS is about 600 lbs lighter. Again, not the same class.
That is also ugly. My opinion on the interior has nothing to to with it being an EV. It's just boring and ugly. I think there are several EVs with nice interiors...this just isn't one of them.

Why is the M5 600lbs lighter? It has a heavy engine, transmission, ton of cooling and radiators, same general dimensions as the Model S? Because the battery pack in the Tesla. The nature of the S being an EV makes is heavier than similar-sized cars and thus slower around the ring. But you can't use that weight penalty to try to make them different "classes".

The S weighs as much as my wife's gigantic Range Rover. Does that make them the same class? No.

if you want my opinion, it would be like driving a doctors surgery
If you want to say it is too plain or sterile for your taste, that I can accept. Scandinavian design is not for everyone.

you can almost smell the formaldehyde in that "pleather"

dead men dont wear plaid
Might just be a joke by you, but you do know why the trim is called Plaid, right?

The Nurburgring literally makes classes:

Braking performance and tire choice limited this car. Im happy its slower than our QV officially but the QV had corsa tires and carbon brakes!!!
Yeah, and the Tesla had 1,020 horsepower and 1,050 lb-ft of torque with a 0-60 mph in less than two seconds. For everyone that calls the Corsa tires 'cheater' tires it's as silly as calling the Plaid's 1,020HP as cheater drivetrain.

The Nurburgring literally makes classes:

Oh you're right. And they put the S Plaid in the class alongside "Opel Ampera-e, Hyundai IONIQ Electro, VW ID.3, Tesla Model 3". Makes total sense. At least it's the fastest in such a tough class.

I think those are just examples.

Porsche Taycan (Prototype) ran the ring in 7:42. They need to run a production car next.

The class is specifically for production electrics. There's a separate class for the others.
Yes, I know. I am just saying that another NRing-worthy EV is waiting in the wings to attempt a lap.

But what about the S’s vaunted low CG?

The day Porsche is allowed to “modify” cars for sole purpose of running the ring they will
Obliterate every time. Every car will be in 6 minute range. They could make the cayenne sub 7s if they are allowed to modify it. Let’s stop pretending that Tesla didn’t bend the rules just to make it around a track once without over heating or running slower than a Honda Civic type r

Dumb question: there are 2 end points on the Nürburgring, Alfa took the farther/full loop one but did Tesla?

Now I see why I did not notice the concrete sections of the track in the Alfa run, the camera exposure is set wrong so that the track is hard to see.
I did not notice the Alfa going off pavement or the Alfa driver having to countersteer in practically every turn like the Tesla. Neither Tesla nor Alfa are as smooth on the track as "no drama, just fast" Lambo but from what I see Alfa is significantly smoother than Tesla in spite of the Alfa making the run faster.
