I just picked my QV up last night and was surprised when the car did not turn off when stopped in any mode. Note I am not complaining just surprised.
Don’t worry, it will start working soon. Mine didn’t function the first 2 days I owned mine. Now it works ALL THE TIME!

It has to do with batter charge level, outside air / inside air temp, and other conditions. Once it’s happy with everything it will stop ✋

In my Ti, the engine will not turn off if the rear defrost is on. Conversely, I cannot turn on the rear defrost if the engine is shut off (due to auto start/stop). Seems weird to me: I wouldn’t think the rear defrost would draw so much to require the engine to remain running (especially since all the other electronics work including AC)

Start Stop - In my opinion Great for city traffic jams but annoying for regular driving and I assume must creat more engine wear.
Can the start stop be disabled w the push of a button with the 4 cylinder TI model ?
Thank you

I’m front of your left knee, is not not? I guess when you aren’t in a situation where’s it’s needed it can be deactivated & reactivated at the press of a button.

From alfabb forum don't worry about temps, turbo and auto-stop "Also you do not need to worry about turbocharger temperature when the engine is off. Giulia has the same turbo cooling system (after-run electric pump which can works up to 10 minutes after engine was off) as 4C and american 1.4 Turbo Multiair. The 2.0 GME has two completely separate cooling circuits: the high temperature loop feeds the engine block and head, engine oil, low pressure EGR and cabin heater, and the low temperature one cools the intercooler and turbo. The HT circuit has a belt-driven pump, while the LT one has an electric pump. Both loops have electronic bypass valves rather than conventional thermostats"
Hi. Is the system the same for the 2.2 diesel? Do not know? I have the AE version (two cooling circuits).

My BMW X3 Xdrive 2.8 Turbo has had stop/start and has over 140k miles and no engine issues Imo, is that the less you run the engine the better it is. As long as you have proper oil and lubrication it's not a problem. The engine has only 2 modes, on or off. When you stop driving it's off and when you're moving it's either cranking harder or slower.

Just installed the Start/Stop deactivator dongle from Alfissimo. Very quick and easy installation, and solves a major source of frustration. I passionately hate start/stop systems that cause unnecessary and unpleasant engine restarts with shudder, jerking, etc.

I don’t like it either, but for 5 years the other solution has worked well for me 👈

And also less strain on the dreaded starter relay ;)

There’s a button to the left of the steering wheel where the headlight knob is. It has an A on it.

His post is from 7 years ago, he’s probably figured it out.
