I am looking at a 2022 Giulia Ti which is brand new , however the car got rust on the screw at the very front if I pop the hood
Had it on MY'21 as well. I tought it was due to some aggressive stuff used by my detailer when preping the car. I have applied a mil grade grease with rust protectant and so far it's fine.

I did have a rusted screw. Noticed it when I first opened the hood. After my first dealer service, the rusted screw was gone lol. They must have replaced it when they saw it.

Sounds tasty 😉

shouldn't they be painted? I know such screw, if not galvanised or coated, will get rusty in a second, but I was expecting the new car's bolt would have been fully coated with paints (like the bolts on the hood), if the paint got a chip or two, then someone must have tempered it -- that's just my theory on what if end up with a car of confidential salvage title;
The bolts appear to have a thin black coating that provides some limited rust prevention. The OEM Giulia lug bolts have a similar finish. When I buy new bolts with that black finish it often does not completely cover the metal, so rust starts happening quickly.

I had the front fascia on my car removed the day after I took delivery so that it could be wrapped properly and so that a carbon fiber V could be installed. When it was re-assembled the bolt heads did not seat in exactly the original place and that disruption of the paint on the fascia is plain to see.

having read thru this thread, I wonder if you should just pass on this car, if you continue to have nagging doubts about this and that after you buy it. Perhaps you will never trust or really have a carefree enjoyment of this particular Alfa. Let it go, and look elsewhere is my suggestion. This much anxiety about a bit of rust on a fastener bodes poorly for purchasing this particular car. NV

This … Same here! It annoys me every time I open the door. Smh!

Buy new ones? It is a two person job to swap those out (one to hold the door while the other does the R&R) but Alfa did paint the door off of the car, then re-mount the door using that bolt. So it can be R&R without disrupting any paint.

Actually, I went to another dealer today and checked their cars in the show room and the test drive ones, I am glad to know they all have scratched bolts, yet none of them got the rust; The salesman there suggests it's totally possible that someone opened the hood on a rainy day or could just have been left in the lot for too long; I wasn't able to check their stock cars though, it's in another lot off the premise;

So, I would say that car I was looking is FINE, I shouldn't assume it will have issue more than another Giulia;

BUT, I also found out that the car I was looking at was actually transfered from the dealer I just visited today after I paid deposit -- it wasn't sit in the port, but just the lot of another dealer; Gosh, I had been told how hard they were trying to proceed and deal with the custom the whole week, now I feel like a fool LoL;

I chose that dealer only cause it's next to a nice riverside park complex so I could spare some quality time while waiting for the service. I guess now I shall just try to get my deposit back;

I don't think yours is actually an issue, that bolts wasn't coated from the beginning, they are expected to get some rust in this case;
They could have done it better, but as long as other Giulia got the same un-coated bolts on the door hinge, EVERY one will become rusty;

Maybe you dodged a bullet. If sales side of that dealer is so bad, the service side may also be.

You are right! I’m not worried at all, it is just an eye sore. It is the only one that is like that. Nothing under the hood is rusted for me though. It’s neither here nor there for me.

not sure what he was really up to;
wasn't very well received at the receptionist there cause that's a Maserati dealer(along with AR), but they do have a rather huge workshop though;

That particular bolt is plated. Sometime the plating process isn't as always good as it should be, or plating didn't adhere as good as it should have. If it's just the one bolt, I wouldn't be too concerned. Easy to replace or have the dealer replace it.

Here are the same pics from my 2018 Ti Sport. 5 years in AZ and FL. High gloss and zero rust on any under hood bolts. Not sure where the car you are looking at has been. Did it spend the Winter up North in the snow?

Those bolts do show rust as water lays there. I'd say 2% give my a problem removing. They are a overkill for what they do, as what they screw into is a adjustment for fascia to hood height adjustment. Don't use this as a to buy or not,(IMO).
