Can you run the update if you have an iPhone plugged into the car for AA at the same time, or can no other USB port be in use when updating the maps?

The update instructions provided by @jwq2 say no other devices should be plugged into other USB ports.

*
This should give 2 files, a .dct file (license) and a .bin file (map)
  • place the 2 files on root of USB stick
  • start engine, switch off auto start/stop
  • place stick in USB port car. Don't use usb port in rear, as this is power only
  • make sure there are no other devices in any of the other USB ports
  • select <settings> <system> <maps update>
  • update should start, takes approx 70 minutes on "old" 1st gen hardware, 30 minutes on "new" 2nd gen.

Does anyone have recent eu maps (10xx) for the 8.8" screen downloaded and willing to share? I still have the original 2016 v.971 maps in mine. Have updated infotaiment successfully to fw. 2.010.41. Otherwise map update only available via dealer anymore.

I have the same problem
Follow this

You usb it divided to take 4gig file, you need to change it following the link suggestion. After select the bigger volume you can. It worked well for me.

When I downloaded the maps from the F.C.A. site, I changed the name of the file slightly on my computer.
so, I could locate the downloaded map file on my computer in my "download folder" easier.
The car wouldn't recognize the file with the name change.

And you are right, as mentioned earlier, your stick needs to be formatted to NTFS files,
before you download the maps onto your memory stick.

Followed @hownowcb 's instructions, but still getting this error. Have tried reformatting flash drive several times. Anyone else have a similar problem?
'19 Giulia Ti Sport / Mac OS / Flash drive OSX journaled.

thx!

Your first, upper photo explains (granted, not very explicitly) that you should try to reinstall the two files onto a flash drive. If you're not already, I'd recommend using a 32gb drive. USB version doesn't matter. It's really important that you use Disk Utility to erase the drive; don't just drag files or folders already on it into the Trash. Choose "erase" and reformat the disk Mac OS Journaled. Then only drag the two files: USA_Canada_and_Mexico-102913.meta.dct and MAP50231.bin onto the drive and nothing else. Your drive should look exactly like this:

Your problem could have been as simple as a single bit read error, so just try again, by reinstalling the files onto a fresh drive. At least your car recognizes what you're trying to do!

FYI: I named my flash drive "AR MAPS", but name doesn't matter. Just don't drag the files inside a folder, and don't create a folder on the flash drive. I put my iPhone into "Airplane" mode just to be sure a call wouldn't in any way interrupt the update process!
