Is Your Q.V. a Daily Driver

Hi All,

I am curious. Are you guys driving your Quadrifoglio every day as your primary driver? I have acquired a Q.V. and also have a 4 year old Audi S5 (which is really fun too). Debating if I keep the Audi around as a DD or have you gone all in on your Q.V.?

I have a ‘17 that I daily about 10-12k miles a year. It’s been my grocery getter, road trip, and track car.. it does everything. I have the carbon ceramic brake package but put Giro Disk rotor and street pads on it for cost savings. The GiroDisk race pads were perfect for the track day and constant 150mph hard braking into turn 10A at Road Atlanta. The only thing that is frustrating is the brake by wire in the early models is impossible to modulate for a smooth stop. Also it jerks when starting from a stop a lot. Knock on wood at 48k miles and it has been rock solid reliable.

We have close to 22-23K miles on our 2019 and have only had one real issue which I believe was caused by the dealership. but car gets driven almost everyday and knock on wood it is on the OEM battery. Not a ton of miles we live in kind of a small town.

Bought her brand new in Aug 2018, heading in for her 90,000 mile service and first ever brake job in a few days.

She may hit 100,000 miles before she is 5 years old.

Still looks great!!

So are those all the fault codes on your car, are you having CEL?

On a separate note, was randomly watching QV content on YT and came across this one channel Ideal Media, ranking all unreliable cars and AF still near the bottom of the stack. AF sure got its work cut out for them to turn that perception around, there will be countless other light-on-substance channels like Ideal or motor journalists that will continue to lean on AF unreliability trope because it's easy, lazy content to spill out

Picking mine up tomorrow - In Toronto, I'm not sure the winters are as harsh here as Minnesota. I'm going to be driving it year round with some Michelin Alpins. I have an VW Taos if it gets a bit too hairy. Paying way too much monthly to store it away for so long!

The only thing you’ll notice as you get used to it is how the winter is going to castrate it, and render its superpowers useless. Like asking a cheetah to go swimming. Or asking Mike Tyson to tap dance. They can do it but you feel sorry for them. Won’t be long before I move out of this sh_thole. I’ve had it with this perpetually horrific weather

Not a QV, but it's always an adventure when I refuse to take our SUV for Costco runs.

I do like my heated seats, but I remember a time in my life growing up in Canada when heated seats weren’t actually a thing. But somehow, against all odds that were brought on by the icy grasp of Mother Nature, I made it through to adulthood. I don’t mean to be insensitive to anyone who has personally suffered, or may have lost a loved one due to frozen ass.

I have to qualify that of all the times in my early life that I had to tough through these nearly insurmountable circumstances, I was aided by the wearing of pants.

I have heated seats in NYC winters. They are nice to warm me up, but I turn them off within 5 minutes and just use the main heater. So yes it's nice to have them but I could live without them

Just received my QV yesterday, living in the northeast and the intent is the QV will be my daily driver. I'm going back and forth on all-season tires or another set of rims and winter tires - thoughts?

The two most important factors when deciding on tires are:

1) Local climate and driving conditions
2) HOW you want to drive.

The first one is self explanatory, but we often give advice to others without asking this. The second is probably the most crucial. Do you want to drive just as aggressively (or as close as possible) as you do in the summer? Are you driving it every day or do you have a secondary vehicle? Everyone drives differently, and have very different expectations of how their car needs to behave with winters on.

Good advice, but for completeness I'll add a third point:

3) How you want your drive to feel.

Most performance snow tires like the Pilot Alpins, have a soft sidewall and are not as sharp when steering. Even if I drive slowly, I won't get the same experience with the Alfa's excellent steering. In fact, when I replace my Corsas, I'm going to avoid the Michelin PS4S, specifically because it gets lower marks for steering feel / sharpness.

So, regardless of how you want to drive, if you value the sporty experience over wear, noise, and comfort, I'd recommend the DWS06+ over many other all-season or winter tires. Again, that's provided that snow performance isn't a major consideration.
