Has anybody checked into Alfa’s part of history when being owned and ran by fascist state and fascists for quite some time?

Maybe better not...it has been 75 years since then.....it could lead to another 20 pages of passionate yet blindly uninformed blathering?

The whole point of the "uninformed blathering" was that poo-pooing Porsche and VW for having a historical Nazi connection was ridiculous as most companies have sh*t in their history including may cherished American brands.

The object of making such a point was to buy a car based on its merits and perceived value to its owner and not something that some old dead guy did 50 years ago.

You forgot your coat.

Funny, the uninformed comment was meant for Alfaholico not you...it was just friendly bantering back and forth with him for a while....why you chose to reply to me is a bit of puzzle but I guess you have your reasons

Maybe my comment came across as rude but it was intended to be lighthearted.

We are all good man, we all drive Alfas.....and btw I agree with you hence my suggestion Alfa brand might not be all virgin white when it comes to history....history is always full of weird turns

Has anyone looked at the RS5 sportback? Just saw a detailed review. Not impressive compared to the QV. Tight rear seats, no middle seat to speak of. little rear headroom. Front seats don't have adjustable headrests, console design is janky with a glued on screen, volume knob off to the side, very wide center console, faux ventilation between the center stack and the passenger seat that doesn't do anything, down on power, heavy. I don't think alfa really has anything to worry about.

my AUDI meme is missing ? ... weird... and then it appears again

even the AUDI memes are unreliable

here it is again

But on the most recent episode of The Grand Tour he whispered that the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 was better than the Alfa QV, but apparently very limited production and a boatload of money.

give Arese a budget to build a V8 Giulia that would cost in excess $190,000 and see how it fares

i would hazard a guess that the extra cost is to pay for the extra 90 odd HP - its one thing to build a special limited whizbang edition, its another thing to be able to walk into any dealership and get something similar off the lot that is affordable -

^exactly....For $190k even Lada might build the car that would meet that Jaguar...has Jag sold all 300 yet?/forum/images/smilies/smile.gif

At 190k AlfaQV Project 8 would have 5 liter 2T V8 with 800HP, do donughts around the Jag and flashing CEL the whole time around Nring:)

not a ripoff

....and we all know where the 911 came from ....the vaunted Beetle.....

and it was a clear rip off of the Giulietta Sprint Zagato.....
can't agree with that one. the 911 derived from the 356c which predated the giulietta sz. The 356 was designed in 1948, pre-dating the SZ by 12 years. If anything the SZ is a ripoff of the porsche, not the other way round. I think it is fairer to say they were both products of the same understanding of aerodynamics prevalent at the time. Everyone was pursuing streamlining and tear drop shapes until professor kamm revolutionized the industry and the Kamm tail, or chopped tail was introduced around 1962.

I'd go for a Stinger over an a4. More fun.

I stand corrected....didn't realize the 356c went back that far.......0:)

X2

Our local Audi dealer is butchering a simple thermostat replacement on our CPO A3. We've had A4, Q5, and (as of today) Q7 loaners, climbing the ladder as they screw it up worse. All have been stiff, numb, and bloated with distracting toys. The digital gauges in particular are terrible. Fuzzy, super bright, and overly busy, they look cheap and out of place. Can't believe people pay money for even more screen time. It hasn't been all bad though. "Hey Hun, why don't we stop and look at the Stelvio. Might be nice..."
