There's a guy on another Alfa board online (alfaowner.com, I think) that swears an Alfa tech told him that exhaust valve control was coming as an update to all QVs. Obviously take it with a grain of salt.
I wonder if @MacGeek can find out anything about it....... it would be great if it is really happening....

Does anyone have the installation instructions beyond this link (http://www.forzacomponenti.com/faqalfagiulia.html)?

I'd like to take a look at the included instructions so I can discuss with a local shop re installation cost.

Seems Forza's website does not have the Q's specific instructions listed.

Thanks for any help.

I think I still have the paper instructions somewhere. I'll see if I can find them later and will photo or scan them for you. My shop took under an hour to install by reading the instructions as they went (obviously hadn't done this before).

Thanks Simey. No need to do that.

I called Steve @ Forza and he emailed them to me.

Does anyone know if the controller triggers any codes?

Yes, it does seem unless a dealership went specifically looking for the controller that they would not know about it but the hidden feature may be irrelevant if codes are triggered after its install and use.

Thx.

Hey,

The controller doesn't set off error codes unless you turn it on while in race mode or dynamic when the flaps open. Otherwise shouldn't be an issue. This actually happened to me and Alfa Romeo just cleared the codes and didn't know why it happened. Now I know better.

I'm a bit confused. When you turn it "on" in dynamic? Using the controller in dynamic gives a code?

Definitely not the case. I do that all the time. I start her up in D and then press my programmed Homelink button to open the flaps. NEVER had an issue. Don?t know about R mode but I?m not going to test that and Risk a dealer visit.

Okay, so no codes but when you visit the dealer will they then "see" the controller is being used?

I ask this because in my Jeep Wrangler I installed aftermarket headlights and fogs. Oddly when I went in for routine service the tech "saw" the aftermarket lights in his reader. I know this because he asked me if they were non-OEM lights.

*shrug*

Can’t say for sure, but I don’t see how they could unless it was being operated at the time. The only time I could see that being an issue I’d if you took the car in for some problem that relates to the exhaust flaps specifically. If you were going to do that, might be a good idea to disconnect the controller. The odds of that scenario are really slim though.

Sorry. Let me clarify. First the dealer will have no idea it is installed.

Second. I have learned this first hand and also was warned in an email from the manufacturer before hand as well. It was a stupid move on my part. Anyways, if you are driving in Dynamic at which the point the valves are already open (ie over 4000rpm) and press the switch to open the valves on the controller it will definitely set off an error code.

From now on I turn it on or off either in park or stopped. Hope that explains it a bit better.

Yes, thank you.

I've had my exhaust controller for a month now, best purchase ever. Will be one and only mod to the car except 20inch wheels. I whole heartedly recommend it especially since it can be connected and controlled with the homelink on the visor. I don't expect Alfa to add it as an option to change it through the infotainment system.
Nato, recently I’ve noticed that the Homelink button doesn’t always work on the Controller. When I originally programmed it a couple of weeks ago it was fine...now works only 1 out of 5 times. The key fob remote still works every time which leads me to believe that it has something to do with the Homelink system, not the Controller (Homelink works every time with the garage door).

Anyone else?

Hey,

I haven't had any issues yet. Still working well. You have had it longer than me. Have you tried to reprogram it?
I thought about doing that but hate the idea of having to reprogram the garage again (when you reprogram, you have to do them all). All that climbing up to the motor, pressing the little button, running down to the car and programming the visor button :p

How is the "garage door opener" working guys?
Is this a reliable way to control the exhaust?
I am thinking about getting this "solution" installed.
I assume you are being facetious when you ask about the "garage door opener" as that is just one way to operate the controller. If you are asking about the mod in general, I've said it before and will say it again: Best investment I've made for a few hundred bucks. I always open the flaps when I get the car started. Works like a charm and the sound is just priceless.

As I mentioned above, I may have to re-program the Homelink button for the Controller as it has stopped working. The remote has always worked fine though.
