What confidence should I have that that dealership will continue to have technicians trained to maintain and repair my Giulia?

I do have a dealer about 11 miles from me, but usually go to my sale dealership for service, which is about 23 miles. The bigger issue right now is a parts back up that is a bit of a joke. I’ve been waiting for a door weatherstripping and set of wipers for a few months now with no sign of a date. It’s worse than when we were in the early days of Covid.

My wife drives a 2019 Toyota Sienna. in early November, while waiting to exit a parking lot, another woman (probably on the cell phone) rear ended her with a Jeep so, you can imagine the damage on the van's rear 5th door. The van went into the body shop on 11/08/22 and we just picked up yesterday, 12/20/22. A 3 days work that lasted almost 1.5 months because the new door took 5 weeks to arrive to the body shop. 5 weeks. A Toyota door. A simple Toyota door.

I think distance is irrelevant actually because of traffic and travel time is a better measure. That said, time/distance is only half the issue. Competence is the other. I'm fortunate to have 6 dealers "local to me" (i.e. within 50 miles) here in NYC, but I travel to the dealer furthest from me (Miller motors) bc they are the best, even though I didn't buy my car from them and it takes me an hour due to traffic.

While I would love a closer dealer that didn't require paying toll roads to get to, I prioritize good service, and travel for it. That said, if I had to travel more than 1-2 hours, then I may give it a second thought.

I'm within 20 miles of dodge dealer ( who does offer alfa service) and real RWB Alfa Logo dealer,(in biggest metropolitan City of world, LA) but I'm really not happy with either one. Both, on multiple occasion failed to deliver service with timely manner & honestly I'd better service with lower grade car line than ALFA. PLEASE get your s.... together, Only way Alfa will survive is better dealer hands on network for service IMHO. We have 2 Alfa's in household, and if we had better dealer/service network I'd not mind getting more Alfas. I love these cars, but even with my own service shop, I'm hesitant to keep my cars....

Purchased a new Guilia this year at Crown in Columbus, they're about 16 miles from me and the only Alfa dealer. Shortly after I curbed the tire a little and thought it'd be an easy fix since I bought the tire/wheel package but when I contacted the dealer I was told they'd need the car for aprox 4 days and couldn't offer me a loaner at the time but possible in a month or so. Said they'd get back with me...that was in August, it's almost January, I've heard nothing.

Hi there,

Have you been able to get in contact with this dealer? Once you do have an appointment in place, if you let us know the date and location, we can offer some further support from one of our agents.

33 miles into a congested area. The commute doesn't bother me as much as the lack of competing dealerships for service means they can arbitrarily set any price they want for flat rate stuff. I understand paying a premium at a dealership, but $200 in labor for an oil change or $400 for an alignment feels more like price gouging. As a result, I go to elsewhere for basic routine stuff that I still want a solid paper trail on.

I'm lucky to not only have multiple dealers less than 20 minutes away, but they're all actually really good. I go to the one that's <10 miles from me as I take my wife's SUV to the same dealer (not an Alfa). They've always been up front and professional and anytime my wife has needed a loaner for the day, they've always given her a fairly new Ghibli to hold her over. Mine is a 2017 that's not under warranty. I take it to the dealer because I trust them to do everything correctly. Could I save a few bucks on an oil change? Sure. Would I trust a high volume oil changer place with my QV? No.

The closest to me is about 125 miles. I bought it used from a local DRJC dealer. I've only had to work with the actual dealer once for a warranty issue and they drove a loaner to me and picked up my car and brought my car back after the work was done. So if I'm able to do that I'm fine with having a dealer a ways away. If I didn't do my own work when possible it would probably be a bigger issue and I'd switch to something else with local support. I do live in the rural Midwest so I understand there not being really any Alfa dealers around.

Would love for the Jeep/Dodge dealers to be able to sell parts. Especially, the ones that are the same (such as the oil drain plug). I feel like that would help alot of people that don't have easy access to an Alfa dealer but do have access to a Jeep/Dodge dealer.

I'm 110 miles from the nearest dealer (Livermore) and have never been there. Do all routine maintenance myself and car has been very reliable so not a problem thus far. When I first bought the car I was able to buy parts (but not service) from the local CDJR dealer but FCA (at the time) decided in its infinite wisdom to curtail that option. Bad marketing because now I go outside of Stellantis to get parts (can you say Alfissimo?) I would rather spend money locally but Alfissimo makes it easy. Alfa would be smart to reinstate parts availability at all CDJR dealers - requires no special training (no overhead) and certainly brings profits to the spare parts business.

@AlfaRomeoCares In the SF/Bay Area, dealerships are closing (the most recent being the one in Berkeley). My only option is to drive down to San Jose's Steven's Creek Alfa Romeo to get the warranty work done. The ridiculous part to me is there is a lack of certified technicians at these dealerships, so many times, I have to go back and forth to be able to get serviced correctly

To echo @alfan's sentiment, the only dealership I go to for maintenance (because I trust the technician there) is in Burlingame, where an AR dealership was closed but some of the techs remain. Please at least make parts availability easier

Yikes..,mcKevitt AR is closing??
Walnut Creek closed already.
Thst leaves Marin…more yikes bc they stink.
IMO any buyer who considers a car purchase that’s under warranty from a manufacturer that’s more than 40 miles away a little daunting. I have loved Alfa for 50 years now and have always sympathized w them but customers are so dicky these days, especially ially US brats. Hang in there Alfa.

I was at 22 miles away…then just was told my local dealer in Greensboro, NC is closing at the end of the year. Now my closest dealer is 57 miles away (Cary, NC). But I also have 2 other dealers fairly close (Raleigh and Charlotte).

I have 4 dealers within 25 miles from me. My selling dealer was incompetent in fixing an issue I had immediately after purchasing the car from them, you (Alfa) offered to buy the car back, BUT, after realizing it was a dealer issue, I brought the car to another dealer who fixed the issue in 48 hours (waited for a part) and its been a blast since then. they are my servicing dealer now for everything. The other two dealers I have not visited so cannot comment.
My point is simple; you need competent dealers NOT JUST MORE. Many people have had issues with quality of the service, more so than the proximity.
Best of luck to you! I hope for your sake & ours you figure this out

I would suggest another survey on the quality of dealers! I have no problem driving further if quality is higher. I understand that Alfa is involved from the survey dealers send out but it's also not a clear picture of what is taking place.

If Alfa is going to compete in their desired market, THEY NEED TO COMPETE.

Crown Alfa Romeo of Dublin (Ohio) is about a 20 minute drive for me—I wouldn’t care if they were 4 hours away, I’d still make the drive.

Their sales and service are the absolute best dealer experiences I’ve had in 30+ years of driving.

Six Alfa’s in with James, Juan, AJ, Alex and Mike — I’ll never go anywhere else. I know there are others here in the Central Ohio area who’d agree 100%

My local Alfa dealer is around 20 miles away, but there's only an Alfa tech available a couple times a month, if lucky.

Where do I start. I love my alfa’s but servicing and getting warranty work done has been a hassle. I have a giulia, stelvio and a 4c which are all under warranty. The dealership in sacramento closed down a few years ago and now most dealers in the bay area have closed down as well. Berkeley is closing down in January and we only have 3 dealerships left in all of Northern California. Marin is still operating (luckily under new management). Stevens creek dealership never replies to anyone to schedule them in. Haven’t been to Livermore so I can’t comment on it. My advice is to get more techs certified in dodge/jeep dealers

We had a dealer 9 miles away when I was looking to buy. They were in the process of getting out of AR but a dealership on the other side of town was going to get AR so I was fine buying one. That was 4 years ago. When I went to schedule yearly maintenance fall of last year, I found out they were no longer AR dealer and the closest one was 3 hours away. So now I drive the 185 miles to AR Plano in Texas once a year whether I want to or not. They’ve given us great service and a loaner when we’ve gone but I sure wish I had someone local especially if it gets to the point of needing something besides maintenance. If this had been the case when my cel was coming on every few months and they couldn’t figure out why, I’m not sure I’d still have the car. That would be very sad.
