Oh, boy... Are you going to get feedback....

I bought a used Giulia from a dealer about 50 miles away. This was not a problem for me. That dealer closed a few months ago. The nearest dealers are about 120 miles away. This may be a deal breaker.

I have just read in this forum that another dealer closed or is soon closing.

Not cool.

Hoping for the best, although I doubt a new Alfa dealership will open closer to me.

50+ miles, but only about 55. I knew that going into ownership and am fine with it.

if alfa wants feedback, most of time dealership never have enough loaner to schedule unless 4 weeks out or more

I’m now within a mile, but when I purchased, the closest dealer was almost 140mi away. The network seems to be fine in cities, but outside of them, people purchase the competitors due to the lack of dealers. Jaguar faces a similar issue, but they have a larger dealership network.
I have 2 dealers within 10 miles of my house. That said I use an independent shop for service. Its easier to get an appointment there, its a mile from my house, and the tech there was trained by Alfa and specializes in modern Alfas, Ferrari, etc. At the dealer its tough to get a quick appointment, and even tougher if you need a loaner.

If a dealer was more than 50 miles (or an hour) from my house I would reconsider ownership, and I don't blame folks in underserved areas for not considering Alfa.
190 miles in summer, 250 miles in winter. Between that and outrageously high prices, I do most work myself. Neither loaners nor rentals are likely to be useable.
I continue to be appalled that there is no dealership in the Reno/Carson-City area.

One at 7 miles and one at 21 miles. Been using the one 21 miles away for service as that’s where I purchased the car and it’s a larger higher volume dealership.
I have 1 local dealer - it's clearly on life support. When they close it will be several hours to the next closest.

Appointments for diagnostics is usually 1-2 weeks wait. Parts inventory is non existent (usually another week wait). A simple service loaner needs to be scheduled 2 months in advance.

I'm in Annapolis, they shut down the local dealership in 2019... so now I have to drive 60 miles in Washington DC traffic for service... it sucks. I did see a post somewhere that they might be opening one near Baltimore, fingers crossed!
For me, the dealership is the last resort. I'm fortunate enough to have a solid local independent that enjoys the car as much as I do.
So it makes no difference to me.

Had 2 dealers in Colorado. The closest one closed down but I never went there for service as they weren't open on Saturdays, and one of the sales guys had an attitude that turned me off. The other dealer is about 20 miles away and has taken good care of me.
I change my own oil /plugs /filters as their costs are higher than I would like, but they have done warranty work and other repairs professionally.
My last repair service was about a month ago. They had a 2 week air for service and about 2 1/2 months if I wanted a loaner.
The repair ended up taking about 3 weeks with getting in parts over Thanksgiving holiday so they found me a loaner for the 2nd half of the repair time.
Same as sjxc1097, given that we live in the same area. But we're very fortunate because the Boston area is relatively wealthy, and the Alfa dealers also sell other luxury cars, so there's good coverage. Other places, like Michigan, are much more dicey.

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if there'll be a survivor bias embedded in these results; Giulia owners will preferentially live near their dealers or give up their cars if they can't.

Trying to buy a car from the closest one to me (Schmelz) is the worst dealership experience I've had in my life... twice! Not sure how all these other ones are closing and they are still open. I drive 20 miles past them to go to Minneapolis Alfa.

This isn't entirely about accessibility, but looks like a good place to rant. When I purchased, I had several within a 30 mile radius but none closer than a 30 minute drive. Not bad. At least 2 have closed down since then. But the problem is the remaining official alfa dealers feel they can charge like it is for a bugatti. Simple maintenance like oil changes are at least double the cost that competitors like Mercedes charge. Getting through to service advisors was also a problem.
My dealership is great . 8 miles, top notch

But $330 for an oil change on a 2.0T when Audi and bmw charge $99-160 is going to keep some people away from the brand.

Maybe the question should be “how far are you from a dealer you feel is competent, trustworthy and competitively priced”?

I have a “dealer” within 33 miles. But in reality it’s just a crappy Dodge dealership with an Alfa showroom. Want service? Get treated like you own a Dodge Dart. Want a rental? You might get a crappy Jeep whatever it is. Service experience is so far off from BMW or Lexus it’s not even funny.

I actually travel quite a distance to get my Giulia serviced, some 300+ miles. I don’t mind going once a year and my car hasn’t had issues so it hasn’t been a huge deal but wouldn’t mind something closer.
