We are pleased to finally announce that Phase 2 is officially ready for the Alfa Romeo Giulia 2.0L EURO+DRIVE tuning system.

This is a simple map upgrade via your EURO+DRIVE handheld. Giulia users will fill out the tune request form found on the online portal and submit this form to their folders to receive Phase 2 mapping (please allow 48 hours of processing on our end).

Additional features released with this Phase 2 upgrade include:

- Dynamic Traction Control (In Dynamic Mode)
- Raised Rev Limiter/Speed Limiter
- Pops & Bangs
- Dual Map Mode
- Catless Downpipe / High Flow Cat Optimization (Coming Soon/In Development)

These features can also be utilized on Phase 1 (for those that do not plan to upgrade to P2 at this time).

Notes on some of these additional features:

- DYNAMIC TRACTION CONTROL -
This feature is largely controlled by torque demand, and the settings in Dynamic Mode. What this means? The factory safety settings for loose road conditions detection, etc, will remain intact. When in Dynamic mode and driving in a spirited part-throttle or wide-open-throttle manner, the TCS system will not interfere or interrupt throttle position, torque request, or other associated requested performance commands. This allows for increased acceleration from a stop or rolling speed (massive difference as opposed to not enabling dynamic traction), burn outs, brake boosting, fish tailing, left foot braking, etc. This is compatible with both diff setups, RWD, and AWD equipped vehicles.

Personal note: I would encourage those who may think that they cannot handle this setting to think again. It does not affect the normal driving or conditions you engage in 90% of the time, and you will be missing out on P2 performance and enjoyment in Dynamic mode without it. This is a pure, sport traction setting, and in my opinion, one the car should have come with from the beginning.

- POPS & BANGS -
This is an additional charge, and can be purchased on the website. Please watch our video below before purchasing or using this feature:

- DUAL MAP MODE -
Via programming, the DNA switch can be changed to run a selected map in a specified mode. Our Phase 1 map will be placed in Natural, while Phase 2 remains in Dynamic. A mode will be the same as it is with the current Phase 1. At this time, the dual map option is only available with the Phase 2 map, and only in this configuration. When testing, Phase 2 did not run quite as aggressively in Natural mode as it did in Dynamic. It did not feel as if the map switching convenience offered by the DNA system was being utilized to it's potential. As we release more mapping options later on, this will change.

This option effectively removes the existing Natural mode. If you do not select this option, N and A modes will remain the same as they currently are configured on our Phase 1 map.

I doubt that it would be different, but of course you're going to be pushing the limits of your traction a lot sooner, and the ESC/TC nannies will intervene more.

Do it... DO IT!!

I bought a 2018 TI Q4 w/ perf pack recently. I read through both P1 and P2 threads, fascinating read! :)
I learned a lot, but a question that was raised a few times was never properly answered.
With air intake/exhaust, P1 adds ~80 bhp and 80 lb/ft torque, while P2 adds ~110 bhp and ~130 lb/ft torque.
I get it that stock components have a comfortable safety reserve, but P2 adds ~40% more power above factory specs.
And as much as I love more power, I don't want to replace major components in 1-2 years due to too much stress. I'm not leasing, I expect to keep my Giulia in the family for a long time.
I would love to hear Toby's @toby@eurocompulsion always objective risk assessment on this topic.

The engine isn't a problem, the bigger concern some of us had was the trans. The torque the P2 adds exceeds the spec rated limit that ZF has listed on this trans. Toby said he talked to the engineers at ZF and they said there is a healthy safety margin in the specs for the trans, and the power he was talking about with the P2 would not be a problem, the trans could handle it.

However, that being said, that doesn't mean damage isn't possible through abuse. This isn't a race car and it isn't designed to be used like that; it's a sports sedan. For regular street use I don't anticipate any problems at all (and haven't had any with the tune). Keep in mind that the numbers the tune delivers are at maximum throttle/rpm which isn't something you're going to do on the street very often. The typical average throttle use will have power levels that are below the maximum rated or factory specs.

Went to the dealer today for a two year service. I spoke to the Tune friendly Tech and told him I had the Phase2. He knew not to flash the ECU.? The cost for the oil change and filter, tire rotation and NYS inspection was $194. Not bad. The oil change alone would have been $122.

So I recently flashed P2 and it's been 672 miles, no ECU's of any sort. It's been a thrill to drive, but I haven't really had a chance to push it very hard yet. I opted for all the options (P&B, limiters, traction) and it's been great so far. I am actually able to get P&B with both N and A modes lol. Much harder than D mode but it's possible. The Madness Lusso exhaust seems to pair very well with the V2 intake and the P2 tune. Will update later.

Can't get EC to reply so I'll post this here.

I have about 900 miles on the P2 tune, and no CELs so far (yay!). But there are two things I think are weird:

1. The pops and bangs feature seems to occur in all 3 DNA modes when I am not tapping on the gas. It happens when I am decelerating while in a lower gear and will keep "popping" constantly as well until I shift to a higher gear or start accelerating again. Is this normal?

2. I have noticed more "power" from the tunes in both P2 in D and P1 in N, but my 0-60 mph time seems to be equal or even slower than my stock 0-60 time. I'm using Dragy to test this. I seem to be getting around 6.8-7.0 seconds for my 0-60. Is this normal as well after the tune (and after 800+ miles)?

Thanks in advance.

@Compromise, I have a bone stock Ti Sport Q4 with only a K&N air filter. Using the Torque app on my phone to determine my 0-60, I was able to hit consistent 5.5 second times. That was with a couple of duffel bags and my wife in the vehicle, 3/4 tank of gas too.

Something is not right with your setup.

My RWD Giulia does not have LSD.. would that matter at all? I've never been able to get <6 s while stock (with just the exhaust upgrade). I'll try more launches today after work. Thanks for the input guys. I might just ask for another tune or something. Here are some screenshots. First is stock at 6.26 and second is P2 with 6.86.

First one is stock.
90015

Second one is P2.

It’s taking you a football fied
Length (300’) to reach 60mph. Normal 2.0 does that in less than 220 usually. You are most likely not launching the vehicle properly. I would think if it was the tune retarding the vehicle that poorly you would notice a lot more than just slow 0-60 times. Maybe keep practicing and then go from there. Or as someone mentioned go back to stock and see what happens.

Look at that DA. That's more than likely the problem.

Time to move.

You should see a difference, Apples to Apples (same or similar DA) between OEM and tuned.

I see. So besides the altitude, there might be something wrong with my tune since my original stock launch times were already in the 6's, the new P2 flash should yield some improvement.. I'll wait until someone at EC responds to my email before flashing back to stock.

I have to get smog tested tomorrow. I have the AFE intake with EC Phase II tune (no muffler delete). Should I go back to stock tune? Any help is appreciated!

I'm checking in with a recent re-installation of the P2+P&B image, which on my 2017 Ti Q4, did not go easily in the March-April timeframe.

For the first month after introduction, I had to run P1, until Toby/EC could give me a "workaround" to get P2 installed. That workaround took several extra steps: - Installation of Stock Map, disconnection of battery, waiting 45 minutes, reconnectinng battery, clearing of codes, elimination of all but Stock and P2 on handheld, with a final install requiring A mode DNA, seatbelt connection and a few extra rev cycles... phew!

In the last week, I took my Alfa in for 30k mi service and a completion of the 17-19 GA Adaptive Cruise Control updates and had to flash back to stock for the visit. Upon pick-up, EC had me reset the handheld, capture and upload a new ECU profile after which they cut new versions of my P1 and P2 maps. As usual, their response during my update day was nothing short of miraculous ... 45 minute turnaround for new images on the portal, prompt answers to my niggling questions, etc.

A new DimSport SW update for both the application and for the programmer, bringing my rig up to ver 1.0.1.31 and preparing me for uploads of Stock, P1 and P2+P&Bs maps. New P2+P&Bs installed without incident or special treatment, just following the normal process in N DMA mode. Took the usual 27 minutest to upload the new map to the ECU, and CEL went to off on the 4th rev process (which was the first rev to show the increased rev-limiter of 6,500 rpm). Immediately ready to drive after that cycle. ZERO ISSUES.

Now I'm about 160 miles post install, running on a tank of 93 octane, zero-ethanol, race fuel. The beast is back. First 0-60 about an hour ago clocked 4.45sec, still wind, flat fresh asphalt, 5,600 ft elevation, 81 degrees overcast, 2,500rpm power-braked launch, suspension on Soft, using all-season GT tires. Not sure, but I think the g-meter showed .80 acceleration. Didn't even try another pull. I'm happy!

Any folks on the EC tune-fence, come join the BBQ ... fresh horsepower and torque are on the grill, and the pulls are cookin'!!

Still thrilled,

Just got the Eurocompulsion tuning kit.

However, I have a problem with the Genius Client: When I start the client, it says that the critical update is required. When the update proceeds and tries to download the new client version, Mcafee antivirus informs that there is an Artemis trojan in the download file and deletes the download.

Thus, the GeniusClient download source seems to be infected. Please fix this as soon as possible!

I would bet good money Mcafee is full of shit..... the only virus you have is Mcafee

Microsoft's "Windows Defender" is now actually leading the pack in the AV world. I know, weird huh?

@Chris@Eurocompulsion Im curious what fuel the P2 tune is developed with ..is it 91 octane ?(RM2) any insight you can offer would be great...I can get 93 at lots of places and was curious if it would be worth it to pay for a 93 tune....

EDIT: OK I see now it says use 91......I have a full exhaust system instead of just the cat back now so I want to get a new tune and was wondering if I should ask for a 93 octane tune...

Difference between RON, MON, and AKIEdit
Because of the 8 to 12 octane number difference between RON and MON noted above, the AKI shown in Canada and the United States is 4 to 6 octane numbers lower than elsewhere in the world for the same fuel. This difference between RON and MON is known as the fuel's Sensitivity,[5] and is not typically published for those countries that use the Anti-Knock Index labelling system.

See the table in the following section for a comparison.

OT but fun fact: to calibrate equipment to measure MON the researcher needs a chemical with 0 Octane (no resistance to detonation). The refined sap of this tree species (Jeffrey Pine) is used for that purpose (picture from my bedroom window):

The tree looks nearly identical to the much more common Ponderosa Pine. Early turpentine manufacturers discovered the explosive nature of this tree sap the hard way...
