Apple Carplay for 2017 model, we may just had a new option!

hello everyone, I am one of the 2017 Giulia QV owners who has always dreamed about getting an update for apple carplay.
But we never did as this is the only model year does not offer the option.
I had a friend who is a used car dealer. He recently told me one customer bought him a carplay kit and asked if can install it for him.
It is a 17 QV And it supports wireless carplay!
Here is the photo after installation. Is anyone interested? let me know I have already asked him to order me one.

Hey guys anybody having issues with android auto not automatically changing between day and night mode using the kap unit. Tried every setting with my Samsung s10 note even in developer mode with no luck. it's always stuck in day mode unless I change to night mode on the map on my phone. The automatically change setting doesn't work

I noticed this with Apple CarPlay. I had it set to automatic for light/dark mode and it didn't switch to dark at night. Only tried it once then set it manually.

I'm an Alfa Romeo owner like all you do, I have a 2017 Stelvio which has zero possibility to have Car play or Android Auto until 6 months ago.
we, a bunch of desperated Alfa owners in China had this opportunity to work with a group of brilliant people to develop this magic box as you can see from the first few page of this thread. We all chipped in a little bit and the product is so successful that we decided to commercialized it. There are 3 main manufacturers of Alfa car play interface by then, 2 in China,1 in Korea as you all know Kap.
We best our competitors in China and Italy because we worked with Apple team closely that make sure the user of the interface has the best experience as the system could've provided.
I'm quite happy to see some of you having the product from us and you all satisfied with it. That's a great compliment to the efforts we put on.
One of the reasons I post here is about fairness and justice. During the commercialization of the product, we have never authorized Eng or their agent to present or sell any of our products. The car play interface from the Eng website has no factory warranty nor we won't provide any further technical support, let alone the firmware upgrade accordingly to the iOS or Android system upgrade.
We try to have our voice heard, and if someone here who is closed to Eng custom, please convert this massage to them that stop the violation of our right immediately or we won't let it go easy.
Someone may raise question about why we don't settle this in Italy. We are in China, we have authorized partner in Italy who will take care of them, but this is an mainly America based forum, due to the covid 19, our expedition in US is majorly affected. So posting here might be a more effective way to protect our interest so as those who might interested in our product.
I will gladly answer any questions from you about why our product is more superior to the rest on the market which Eng would never tell you about.

No, I am team China. Thanks to the VPN the forum recognize me as Korean.
As for the difference between our interface to the Kap one, you can tell from the appearances. Kap is make in steel and we are in aluminum alloy. When the Android auto is applied, the kap one has no split screens but we have.
I respect Kap a lot, but we have something special.

Yes, here is for your reference.

For European users, we advise you to go to our team in Europe.

The interface is ready for 360ahd system, customized plate number. For models without original rear camera, we will offer a solution as well as for those who would like to install front camera.
We will issue firmware update regularly, and we have a major update coming very soon.

Does anyone with the Kap unit and Apple CarPlay see a bit of video noise along the top of the screen in certain circumstances in day mode? I mentioned it before but didn't get a lot of replies so thought I would ask again. I only see it in day mode and its not on all screens, appears both with USB and wireless. Don't see it on dark mode or on factory nav.

I get a bit of video noise when im using Android Auto and I use the voice navigation. The google voice bar comes up towards the bottom of the screen and I get slight video noise. But nothing major.

If you are constantly improving, I was wondering if you will be able to do an update where the touchpad on the center dial can be activated to manage android auto functions in cars that do not have a touch screen. That would be amazing

We thought about how we could enable a touch screen on the original one, like attaching a touch film on the screen but the actual user's experience on such product wasn't ideal. Or just change an original touch screen, which is also compatible with the module.
We mainly focus on how to improve the stability of the connection between the module and the phone, the audio quality and accessibility.
For example, we deliberately slowed the charging flow of the USB adapter if the battery level of the phone is above 60% in the patch we published in February. Because in some extrem cases, we found as the battery temperature raises while its charging, the music apps will be affected, the play will be paused even it's just for a little bit.

Do you plan to add/interface any OBD related PID values at any stage of your development?

Would you recommend not fixing/attaching your unit directly to the existing infotainment unit given the heat issues you have previously referred to?

Lastly, I think the previous post you answered was referring to the touchpad on the menu navigation wheel, any plans for this?

Anyway I’m sold, Fabio will be shipping mine from Italy this Friday [emoji106]

The update will be published in the group we created for users, where we can discuss problems we encounter, tricks we can apply. If you haven't been enlisted, just ask Fabio.
We tried everything we could to avoid messing with the original system. To do what you said, there are certain data we have to acquire from the canbus, if we do that the module might interact with other system. It can be dangerous.
The case is made of aluminum, there will be instructions for the installation, no worries.
The following pictures are from our 360ahd system. There are 4 cameras, front, rear, left and right. The plate number, color, appearance of the car in the simulate can be customized.

With our product everything is possible. We have installed retrofit cameras on a couples of base models, and the rear view is even better than the original one. There are a few manufacturers of 360ahd system, most of them are universal for different models, due to the screen ratio, the display on our 8.8 sized screen is not ideal. We chose one the design, the style is originated from the BMW, we made some modifications as you can see in the pictures. You may find the universal 360 system on eBay/taobao, the price can be reasonable, about the customized one, everybody has their opinion.
Here is a picture from the universal 360 system from an Alfa equipped with our module, for your reference.

Yes of course. Our product encountered such problem and we fixed it by upgrade the firmware. Unless kap decides to do something about it, it will happen again. The unit blocked the data transmission between the original ETM, the screen and some of the sensors. Not all of the time, but it will be triggered in certain occasions.

I also had a completely black screen yesterday. I did not notice the odometer flashing but I could have over looked it. I was only moving my car out of my garage for a workout and parked it locked outside for about an hour. It was fine when I got back. Similar to what Alex suggests but was just locked longer.

Glad its back to normal. Do you have Kap also? I can't remember if you have that or ENG? I'll email KAP about the black screen. Maybe they will fix it also.

Finally. My message was well received. I'm counting on that. Our partner in Italy has everything they need to operate legally. So please go on. I hope you can answer all of the questions from the local authority.
So why don't you just admit that your V1 is a total failure and our product is more superior. There is a reason Eng withdraw from China and you know exactly why.
BTW, when was your last "long term software update service" ? Like never ;)
