my stelvio I had a problem with the sunroof and had to go thru the reset process which took a bit of fiddling to do right. My Giulia sunroof has been problem free.

Mine got stuck closed and had to go through the reset process. There is also something up in that assembly that rattles when it is hot out.

Dealer says nothing is wrong. I'm sure when the warranty is up is when whatever is wrong will break and I'll get to pay for it.

I hate my sunroof, but the car came with it...had to follow the reset procedure once, no other issues.

My sunroof got stuck and I had to bring it to the dealer to fix.

I consider having a sunroof a luxury item and would not want a car without one.

Overall the Giulia has been great.

I have a chance to buy a Giulia Ti Sport. It has a sunroof, something that I really don't want, but which comes with the package.

Does anyone NOT have any problems with their sunroof? I worry about the possibility of leaking (we get torrential downpours here). and it maybe getting stuck opening and closing. The nearest dealer is 200 miles away, so servicing would not be particularly easy.

Thanks for your help.

Only the 2017 and early 2018 models have slider issues. If it's a late model you shouldn't have any issues.

Not one ounce of problems with my non-sunroof Giulia roof.

I've had cars with and without a sunroof and cannot figure out any reason, rational or emotional, to have one.

I agree. Every car that I owned that had a sunroof I forgot it was there. Really a useless bit of kit if you ask me. My Lexus GX has one and I am not sure if it works as I think I opened it once two years ago. When I was an M3 owner, I was always looking for a comp package without a sunroof (and finally found one). My Porsche both had one but they were second hand, the desirable build is without one. So glad the QV doesn't come with that useless bit of misplaced weight.

Well, since we’re all repeating ourselves, the simple reason for me is because I don’t like to feel like I’m driving in a cave. Rarely open the sunroof, but the shade is open 100% of the time I’m driving. A convertible would be better, but I’ll take it.

I think leaking will be the least of your issues especially if you have a dealership near you. I haven't had any problems with mine getting stuck or leaking (10,500 miles odometer reading). I did test drive a stelvio (used) and the moon roof did not open but it probably needed to be reset like mentioned a previous post somewhere in this forum...

My wife bought a 2020 Forester 2 months ago. The option package she wanted comes with a sunroof, like it or not. We haven't even looked at the controls, much less tried to open it. Chances are it will never be opened.

I don't want to feel like my already bad hearing is going to be further destroyed by wind noise, nor that my head will be rolling down the road after an accident, nor that my skin is going to burn off from the sun, nor that I will get a glass shower without warning (IIRC 3 reports of that in Giulia in the forums), etc etc. The 50-100 pounds of weight savings is also a plus.

The sunroof of my Mazda has not been opened for 10 years. Now I am convinced that the rubber will rip to shreds if I do so now. Long ago we would open it to let heat out of the car. I am not really sure it works much better for that than a car with a good flow-through air design like Giulia.

Sunroof works great!! They’re loud AF when you drive with it open. That being said, it creates a really interesting, and imo, attractive site when you see it from the outside with the roof open.

2018 Giulia Ti Sport with sunroof. No problems. Had to do a sunroof reset operation only once when I first got the car. That was simple procedure to do as outlined in the users manual.

19k miles. No major issue . Once, sunroof was out of alignment- went through factory reset. No issues since. GQ4 has been great .

No issues... I use it almost every time I drive... 19 months in... you lose some headroom, esp in the backseat, but works and looks great. 👍

2 Giulias, no sunroof problems. In fact compared to multiple other cars the aerodynamics are very good and fairly quiet even at highway speed. Just crack rear windows.
Also looks excellent and sporty when open. Wouldn't do without!!!

Hi
My answer will be from just a personal experience Considering that I live in Texas!
First I never used The sunroof in my BMW and I had no problem with it Being there
I sometimes forget that I even have it !
But on my Giulia it is Somewhat a problem!
And it’s not the opening and closing “the mechanical/ electric part “ But It’s simply the poor insulation or zero insulation that it has!!
Again if you live in Texas you know how hot it gets even though the glass on top is tinted But there is no Extra padded insulation inside the actual roof liner like the BMW :(
I think That’s the case with Most newer cars nowadays!
not sure why !?
So it’s really annoying because it takes longer for the car to cool down . That might be a complete different experience with someone living in California and likes to enjoy the nice breeze and the clear skies!😎
But if it’s only rain you don’t have to worry about water leaks
We also get heavy rain 12 months a year here !
Maybe something to worry about But “years “ later when the seals start drying out and cracking and that’s definitely normal with any vehicle !
Good luck
Cheers,
