Would you possibly be able to help me get my sgw in? I been at it for 2 hours and get the one plug off, the smaller one came off super easy. I’m up in Princeton area and can make the drive
Did you try using a small, flat-head screwdriver to gain some leverage? See this previous post in this thread.

I wouldn't mind helping, but only when the weather warms up. Too chilly/windy to be outside. ;)

I did, it just seems like the release on the bigger connector doesn’t want to release no matter what I do, and I’m a little terrified of breaking it 😂
If you're not in a rush, maybe end of April will be looking better to meet up. Though, no promises I could help...and I won't be responsible if something breaks. :censored:

I do recommend getting 2 pairs of the extension cables, 2 for each connector for the SGW bypass. This way you don't have to worry about reaching so far up into the column to install/remove the bypass. I got these: Extension Leads (for SGW Bypass)-Pair (10"/18" Length)

That’s a good idea I’ll order those this week! Someone from Facebook might be coming by today to lend a hand so fingers crossed!

Yesterday I was trying to installed the SGW bypass so I could use MultiECUscan. But the harness was so tightly plugged in, I couldn’t get it out and didn’t want to risk damage. I know there’s a tab on each plug and I was able to get one off but the 12 pin was just too snug. Anyone got any tips/methods of removal that you’ve found will help? Last thing I want to do is damage that wiring harness.
I’m having exact same “problem”. Please tell me that you found some good solution

I just installed mine today (Giulia 2.0 from 2023). Fingers still hurt :)

Do you guys drive with the bypass installed? I drove around for 20 min and everything was just fine.

The iOS Alfa app still works as before. Multiecuscan worked great to reset interval. Any reason to unplug it?
Thanks!
I unplug it if it's not needed. It's easier to add it in when needed with the extension cables.

Nope, it will cause no harm at all. If you take it in for warranty service, you may want to unplug it, but I don't believe anyone has been called out for having it.
I will remove my SGW bypass module if my Giulia goes to the dealership for any extended warranty work(I am covered to 92k miles or so). The MES software make note that my security gateway is not active; so I assume that the dealer scan tool will pick it up as well.

No need to have the dealer tell my extended warranty company that my ecu has been altered and the warranty company void my coverage to get out of a expensive repair due to a technicality.

I agree with this, and do the same myself.
I am just saying I have seen no reports of any warranty work denied for having one installed.

Whether you should leave the SGW in place depends on the relationship with your dealer.
My tech at the dealership knows it is installed; he installed it for me.

I have had MOPAR extended warranty repairs (e.g., sunroof cable, oil pump solenoid, etc.), performed on the car after SGW was installed without any hassle.

I could see if you were using MES on the car and something happened where the car had to be towed in, and the dealership wasn't a dealership you patronized, where there might be an issue. As @WoodmanMN said, "I have seen no reports of any warranty work denied for having one installed." It's a gray area.

Most likely never will, but I will not be the first.:)

Well, the thing is I don’t have warranty anymore (only 2 years is transmissible in Germany) so I have no worries regarding the dealers.

I was wondering more if I could be causing any type of problems for the car by leaving it there.
No engine related issues should occur by keeping it installed full time.

Yes, the classic "I am cool with the dealer so they turn an blind eye to my mods" reply.:)

No offense, but I have been reading that reply for decades(literally) in every "can a mod void a extended warranty?" thread in every forum I have been part of.

There are always members bragging about how their local dealer is cool and even installed the aftermarket mods whether is was an air intake or upgraded turbo. However, in the real world(for most owners) most dealers are not that "cool" and will report the modification to the extended warranty company who may or may not foot the bill if an major repair is needed based on the modification.
