So, when you take the car to the dealer for a service do they disconnect the plugs and temporarily install the SGW bypass to reset the service meters??
Would it be easier to 'unbolt' the SGW from its mount and pull it down to be more accessible?

No, it is in no way easy to unbolt the SGW.
The dealer has software that bypasses the security gateway by default. The Bypass just bypasses it.
The dealer doesn't have to mess with it at all.

If the dealer sees a SGW installed, does that cause warranty issues?

I was surprised when I took our Giulia in for the seatbelt sensor recall, the technician noted on the invoice that I had a Centerline seat tilt kit installed.

I remember thinking "Hope this doesn't invalidate any turbocharger or headgasket warranty claims!"😂

Need help please - trying to find the SGW. RHD MY22 Quad. I have removed the sunglasses compartment ( 1 torx screw and trim tool) but i cant seem to see the SGW. Please see photos. Help appreciated. There's a metal box mounted vertically which seens to have some coloured connectors on top but they look small and up very high. The connectors on the far right are inaccessible because of the silver metal bracing strut.

Technically speaking, it shouldn't.
However, it depends on the dealer, the attitude, and what's wrong.

If they think it's got an aftermarket tune, could cause issues.

Up from underneath the steering column, on the right side wall, you'll find the cables.

For my '22 Stelvio, that is exactly what I did.
The SGW is in an even worse location in the Stelvio than the Giulia, so I had to go through the gauge cluster opening to reach it.

I unbolted it from its mounting location, unplugged it from the wiring harness, and then relocated it into the opening behind the cubby.
I used a pair of harness extenders to plug the SGW back into the harness to normal day to day driving, and then when I need to connect my laptop and use MultiECUScan on the Stelvio, I just remove the cubby, then remove the SGW from the wiring harness and plug in the bypass module.

If I need to give the car to the dealer for warranty servicing, I don't tell them anything about the car, because when they hook up their equipment, they don't know that anything is different about the car. As long as the SGW itself never has a failure, they won't ever need to go looking for it.

Not sure mine is same but, the SGW ON my 2019 was right side of the steering column. I had to locate the cables and follow it down. I actually could not hardly see anything and after 30 minutes and a light, realized I was pushing the wrong side of the clips!!

Well, on an LHD car, the SGW is to the right of the steering column. But since you have a RHD car, I'm not positive that yours is also to the right of the steering column. Maybe it is to the left?

On a LHD car, the sunglasses compartment is to the left of the steering column and the SGW is definitely not behind the sunglasses compartment. So my thought is that maybe your SGW is also on the opposite side of the sunglasses compartment, which would make that the left of your steering column.

Of course, this is just a guess since you are having so much difficulty finding it on the right side.

Just did a search for RHD SGW and found two threads that confirm that the SGW is to the left of the steering column on a RHD vehicle.

This post says explicitly that it is to the left of the steering column:

This thread has a video posted by the same person that show his SGW on the left side of his steering column, not the right.

If you view that video on YouTube, read the comments. Someone asks if it is to the left of the column and he confirms that it is indeed to the left of the column on a RHD vehicle.

So on LHD car, SGW is right of the steering column. But on a RHD car, the SGW is to the left of the column.

Eureka!! You, Sir, are a gentleman! It seems to be on the LEFT side. Up high. Can't be seen from below unless cables are pulled to the side (and i had to cut a cable tie that was in the way). I can feel the little plastic tab to push in but cant get them out (index finger a bit sore). Will try some leverage etc later.
Again, thank-you!

I had to use a stubby screwdriver. Same index finger pain!!

Yeah, who would have even thought the difference between LHD & RHD!? I’m dumb! Thanks!

Had another look this morning and found it. So here’s a bit of a guide for people also stuck with a 2019 RHD.

1. remove the coin box by unscrewing a torx screw located in the hole where the coin box latches. Once removed pry the coin box unit away from the main dash. It should come away from the tip. There’s a locating pin at the bottom of the unit that holds the lower part in.

2. Remove the steering column shroud with two torx screws underneath the steering wheel. Pry the top and bottom apart. I used my fingers to separate.

3. roll the driver seat back as far as possible and adjust the steering wheel out (towards driver) and up . Kneel down outside the car and look at the steering column through the hole where the column adjust is. To the left side and back from the cylindrical part of the column is the sgw. The harness is hanging down and the ports accessible. In the pictures below I have my fingers in the sgw.

when starting the car after you will get all the warning. Ignore. Rotate full lock left then full lock right. Return wheel to centre and switch engine off. Wait 30 seconds and start. I more errors

You Could get away without removing the coin box but it helped me when looking and feeling.
If you have small wrists you could also get your hand in without removing the shroud. I can just buy for the sake of 2 screws and lacerating my wrists it’s easier to take off.
