And loosing the new infotainments / Apple Car ? No… 😅
My18 owner here with Acp/aa AND dna switch that stays in position except for race; hence my suggestion

My build date of 7/17 also gets me no sgw, no rear fold down seats/passthrough, no rear center headrest

"no rear fold down seats/passthrough, no rear center headrest"

Are those benefits? haha.

Hi,

My driving style fits definitely better with the D mode. I don't drive so agressive, but I prefer the reactivity and the gear in general.
In D mode, it's often too low and causes vibration, and I have to manually downshift, which is annoying. Also, with my driving style, it does not make any difference at all in fuel consumption.

So, I would be very happy if there is a way to get D mode by default at startup. Any idea ? Does it need a reprog or can it be done in OBD ?

Thanks.
The reason for the change is to preserve the reliability of the engine. At start up the engine oil needs time to warm up before driving aggressively in the beginning. This could damage the internals and especially your turbo. It’s okay to wait at least 5-10 minutes driving normally before putting her in Dynamic.

Driving modestly with a cold engine is always a good idea. It doesn't matter if your in D or N. My 2019 Ti starts in whatever mode it was in previously.

My Fiat Spider has a blue light that goes out when the engine is warm (usually takes about five minutes). Then the fun can start.

For the seats: practically no, but I've heard it saves weight so I'm good with it.

For the center headrest, I love it since it improves rear visibility. But I recognize that it is a safety feature, and I do occasionally have 5 people in the car with me.

Yes, it is best to drive gently before the car is warmed up. Dynamic multiplies the pedal, so it is possible to rev higher than you want, but in Automatic-Dynamic, if you are driving normal it revs to 3k in 1st and then shifts quickly to a higher gear around 2.5k or so.

I believe EPA testing is done based on key-up settings. My STI started in Sport (not Sport#), and the VW Golf R starts in Sport (not Race), and my old Subaru Crosstrek started in Intelligent (think of it like A). So, Natural gets better gas mileage than Dynamic (due to the multiplier). Obviously A is even better, but that is a bit anemic for their customers who never turn the DNA switch.

I think it will always start in N. I do not believe you can program that away as an owner. There may be some tuners out there that can do it but have never heard of any.

I guess this is referring to regular Giulia, but in the Quadrifolgio, the selector stays in whatever mode is left in--I'm not sure about race mode. But it will stay in Dynamic or Normal.

Not exactly true.

Pre-2020 Giulia, even for the base model, the selector will stay in whatever mode. In 2020+ Giulia, the selector switched to a spring-loaded design and it always resets to N, even for QV.

To me it is not about using only one mode, but to alter as conditions require.
First of all, I never use N. Why not? I either want full power, or optimum efficiency. I cannot see the point of half/half.
And then: When, for example, travelling out of town I would put it in A for best fuel efficiency. But, when passing another vehicle, I would switch it to D for maximum power and quick overtaking. But when this is done, I would turn back to A again.
My car, which is a 2017 2 litre, stays in the mode where it was set even after switching off the car, and on again.

So has anyone tried putting in an old style DNA selector into a latter model (+2020) car to see if default setting is simply controlled by the switch design and not the programming????
