So I have a registered copy of MES, an OBDLink MX (bluetooth), SGW (SGM) bypass, the 6 colored obd2 adapter cables, and a Windows 10 x64 laptop. I have no issues connecting to any of the modules that do not require one of the adapter cables. I am able to toggle the horn, lights, etc. so I know that I can write. When I attempt to access the ABS module (adapter 6 / gray) to toy with Dyno Mode, or any of the other modules requiring an adapter, it fails. I receive a failed connection error. Yes, I posted on the MES forums, but that's not a very active place... waiting for a response.

I'm an IT professional so I am 99% certain that everything is configured correctly for the COM port.

What do people use for an OBD2 reader? USB, WIFI, Bluetooth? I would hate to buy a USB OBD2 reader when someone else has a bluetooth OBD2 reader working in this fashion.

Cheers,
As others stated you need to use a usb obd adapter. Bluetooth fails

Check this whole thread, specifically page 3 where I resolved the problem by altering the SGW bypass to allow communications with all vehicle modules.

Adding a comment about my MES experience yesterday since it touches on the ports mentioned on page 1 (and JeFizz it a IT guy, so maybe he can help me understand why).

With a 2017 model, I was having constant issues w/ the proxy align procedure. Basically, one cable would work while others failed to connect repeatedly. While trying to isolate the issue, I wanted to rule out my laptop so I transferred the license over to my daughter's new laptop. Afterwards, I was able to access complete the proxy alignment without issue.

I suspect that the older USB port on my laptop was causing the data to transfer too slow. Both laptops use USB 3.0 ports, but mine is USB 3.0 eXtensible Host Controller -1.0(Microsoft). My daughter's laptop is USB 3.1 eXtensible Host Controller -1.1(Microsoft). From the quick research I did, the 3.0 is limited to transfer speeds of 5 GPS while the 3.1 Gen 2 can do up to 10 GPS.

I'm not sure if this has been covered elsewhere on the forum (and I'm just starting to look at the MES forum), but hopefully this might help someone else running into the same probs. Tech support guys, let me know your thoughts.

usually it's a matter of checking the correct USB drivers are used, and correct latency and speed are set.....

Thanks. I planned on checking at these settings on my PC once the month wait to transfer has passed. The latency speed was what I had suspected originally. Until then, the kiddo is going to have to let me borrow hers. :)

Much appreciated. Going through that now actually... the PC isn't connecting today so I'm going to once over everything and give it another go.

Yeah, its either drivers or settings 99% of the time, but it is possible that the USB chipset is just junk, you never know.

Welp... I spent a bit making sure the settings on the 2nd laptop were set up and now MES is working fine now, As for the steering angle sensor, what a way to find out your garage isn't level!! I moved the car around and the steering angle finally updated.

Now I have the paddles working properly, but RDNA isn't activating. I can see that the two of the four orange traction lights turning on in the D mode screen. Very odd... I'm going to rerun the proxy set up and check again.

Edit- set back to type 1, ran proxy and then set type 3 back up. Now the the orange ESP lights aren't bothering to show up in dynamic. I gotta button up the steering column now that the shifters are working. I'll get back to the software once the kiddo stops playing minecraft.
