Mirror Cover accessory removal

I purchased a 2022 TI RWD yesterday. The mirrors have, what looks like, Alfa accessory supplied carbon fibre covers. These covers have deteriorated from the sun and I would like to remove them. Before I rip into them I want to make sure that they are indeed covers and that the original material is still underneath. Has anyone either installed these and know what I would be up against?

Lets start off with some pictures.....Is it a duck or is it a goose? if you can also take a picture from the backside pointing up. In some cases, if they are car covers, the 3m tape might not stick 100%. So you'll be able to tell if they are covers or full replacements. Once we get that, we can definitely help. Heat Gun usually does the trick or just pulling them off if they are covers.

Yeah I agree with @alfan you will need replacements, unless you can identify that its a sticker. These cars don't have covers to change the look you have to get full replacements.

Do you have any pictures by chance?
Just a little confused. What do you mean "these cars don't have covers to change the look?" the CF cap covers are just that.

Totally that! I'd be more than happy to take some pics of the cover if you were interested. The CF it self looks great but the fitting is about 97%. So parts are a little off. You coul take the 3m off and add some marine epoxy. But then you'll never get that puppy off.

When I started the thread I was unaware of the different covers out there. I assumed the factory accessory type was the only game in town. That's from years of experience with the aftermarket basically ignoring ALFA owners. I found covers at $90 and some at $950 US. I'm assuming mine are the cheap ones since they deteriorated after a couple of years. Let me get some pics up here so everyone can see what I have. Thanks for the support.

Theres so many affordable covers out there. Theres a couple great sellers on amazon that are slightly cheaper but i've definitely noticed the fade significantly quicker. I personally bought those cap covers from madness on mine and I can say that the CF weave is beautiful but fitment again slightly larger but only noticeable if you're the owner....... lol

Yes, warm it (not HOT). plastic pry tools. Start underneath and work around. Comes off quite easily. You will need to clean off any glue etc and use a quality waterproof, black silicone. You need 'painters' tape to hold it all in place while it dries.

Yes, the STOCK/FACTORY mirror housing is underneath your faded carbon fiber covers. Unless the factory mirror housing is damaged, you shouldn't need to replace anything.

Most of these aftermarket carbon fiber mirror covers are attached using 3M tape. Depending on the trim model of your car, the mirrors may be body colored or black. (Nero edition had black mirror housing. The mirror housings on most models are painted to match the exterior color.)

Once you remove the carbon fiber covers, you only need to clean off the glue residue that was holding on the covers, and you should be good to go!

Anyone know of a good source in the US for factory replacement mirror covers? You guys have seen the pictures, do my existing covers look like Factory accessory parts that cost $900 new? I would expect them to be lined with gold for that price. The deterioration on my covers after less than three years old is bad.
