Tire is fine you might have a little tire balance shake for awhile till it wears down the little build up you collected. You are good for dry and wet

Just finished a track day yesterday at Lime Rock. I did a trial with the Lime Rock Drivers Club. Only 7 cars on track for the entire day so about 3.5 hours of on track time and I'm continuing to build confidence. My instructor also got 3 laps in as well.

Pic below is my FRONT RIGHT tire. So is it toast?

Michelin Pilot Sport 4S. 255/35/19. First "session" went a little long and hot pressures got up to 44 or so before I came in and adjusted to 38 or so for the remainder of the day on the fronts.

Let me know

As @MDriver said, I relocated to Charleston SC.
Sold Shelby and 911CS and acquired a couple of convertibles……
Now I have 4 Italian red cars….. I never knew I liked red that much!😁
Still instructing and tracking in the South with my spec Boxster
Life is good!!

They heat up because of tread squirm which is caused by too much tread. I used to race in a spec class that required street tires. We'd take brand new Yokohama 008s (some guys ran BFGs) and we'd have them shaved down to less tread than you have on that tire. It was worth a 1/2 to a second a lap so you have no issue with that tire. Less tread gives you a more stable feel. It's just getting good. I'd race on those in anything but a downpour or lots of standing water.

You definitely got some wear left. It took some years off of their life probably, but hey you had a fun day at the track!

That is normal ware. Looks like you drove ‘em well. Just remember to check hot pressures and adjust as necessary to keep them in the high 30 psi range. Chalk the sidewalls as well, to see how much you’re rolling over. If you’re rolling the sidewalls and have the correct pressure, get a track focused alignment (ie, more negative camber) or upgrade the suspension if necessary. Otherwise, you’ll chew through tires like there’s no tomorrow (ask me how I know 😅).

I know! I'm slacking, this is the best I got from that day. I'm working on getting a gopro setup for my next event in September.

(the number decal was purely for fun for my boys)

That really was the best part, just seeing their 3 1/2 year old faces light up by being in the paddock for the first time. IMSA was setting up for that weekend so tons of trucks and stuff going on too.

For the fraction of us that have had the opportunity to take an Alfa on track, I really hope these threads compel everyone else to have that same experience and enjoy the community, conversation, and ownership that we're lucky to be a part of.

It really is a fantastic experience to get on a track, in any car... but the Giulia just feels right at home there. Hopefully @SPDWEB.net will join me in October. :D
