Curious. Have you asked them what your sales code is? I see you have a Quad, like me.

In my case, I meet all of the criteria on that TSB.... except for the sales code. The TSB calls out sales code RAN. I have an RANS assigned to my unit.

I had all my sales codes looked up and sure enough there’s an “S” appended on to every one of them. They’re all the unique 3 characters you’d expect plus a “S”.

I don’t know the purpose of this. But this will keep you from being eligible for any updates they put out without your sales code listed exactly as assigned. I asked @AlfaRomeoCares about this and they advised they have no way of getting me an answer. It’s super frustrating. I can’t even get radio presets... much less the newer version of the software that’s supposed to fix reboots.

An interesting note: the parts catalog doesn’t have any sales code that has an S appended to it. IE: if they replaced your radio, they would replace it with a “RAN” unit and not a “RANS” unit.

I’ve been told that updating the software is possible, but that it’ll have to be done manually and not prompted by dealer tools. No service techs at my dealership are cool enough to work through that process though.
Sent you a PM...

Taking my 07/2017 MY18 build in on Wednesday with current version of v56. They confirmed there's a new update as of recent and provided them a copy of the TSB posted a few pages ago. Crossing fingers, let's hope this works. I think the REN vs RENS codes are for NAFTA builds possibly? Which is the #1 reason we're not getting updates as fast as Europe. Just an idea.

I didn't but I think it's a NAFTA issue for us :(

Sales code does not apply, MacGeek confirmed in a few other threads. Push from AlfaCares and the dealer should do it. I just had it done (NAFTA MY18 build 07/2017).

Does anyone know what byte to change to enable "Auto On Comfort" under "Drivers Assistance" menu for v85? That feature turns on heated seats and steering wheel and also the defroster through remote start when it's under 34F outside.

I connected with @AlfaRomeoCares and was told I would have to pay even though I'm under warranty

The sales code doesn’t determine whether or not the software is compatible with your system. The recent TSB is performed if you’re vehicle falls within the parameters (manufacture date, sales codes) and you complain about the reboot issue.

To my knowledge most dealers won’t just download the latest version of the software and put it on your car without a reason. I hate it... I always strive to have up to date and improved features.

The issue I had was that my car wasn’t eligible for the TSB because of the sales code problem. My dealer didn’t have the know how or desire to go the extra mile. Alfa cares will refer you directly to the dealer. I tried calling them twice about it. I even had them call my dealer.

It’s ok though, I was able to update my software with the assistance of the Giulia Forums! I’ll have to go back to the dealer to get my other modules updated, but that can be done whenever.

So what version are you on now. I assume Norbert did it for you because he said he tried for me and didn't find anything

Have no idea:unsure: :p I will check and get back to you. My issue was the radio would shut off...and then not reboot on its own. other than that, drove the wheels off the car yesterday;) up to Bear Mtn and back

So I'm finally on 085!
My oberseevations are:
-larger backup camera is great. The top corners look rounded, anyone else with the larger backup camera have that?
-love the audible BSM alerts.
-love the audible BSM alerts. (Not a typo, need to say it twice)
-the audio display in the cluster now shows an icon for what source you're playing from. I get why they do it but I'm a fan of the cleaner look before.
-the trip a/b screen averages section now has a little icon next to each average that looks like a circle with a diagonal love through it; I'm not sure what it stands for but I liked the older cleaner look
-the g force screen now says gravity or g force (I can't remember), but again I liked the old way better
-when a door is open, there's a picture of a giulia that takes up the whole cluster showing which door is open. May have been there before, I'm not sure, but feels new to me.
-race now shows the speedo and not the tach front and center. I thought I wanted this but I'm torn. I feel like they could have found a way to make both equal size, or perhaps let the user choose with the stalk button, but at least mph is now shown in race, and the tach is still there albeit small.
-i don't have a setting for easy entry, but I think they've changed the logic; my driving position has my seat behind the B pillar, and before (can’t remember if this happened on 056 or just 053 [I feel like it did on 056, and only in the last month hasn't happened anymore {and I haven't changed my driving position}]) my seat would slide back on entry and exit but now I can confirm that it only happens if my last driving position is in front of the B pillar. I can't disable this, as I don’t have the setting even though all my modules were updated, but I don't need to as based on the current logic and my current driving position, the seat doesn't slide anyway and I don’t need it to.
- disabling of the park sense while parked doesn't work because something went wrong during the updates of the software and all modules and I now have a "parksense unavailable service required" warning message. The car reports the hardware is fine but the connection is missing. I'm sure it's something software related, but leaving it off overnight to reset did not help.
I haven't noticed anything else, and other than the parksense issue which I'll get fixed, I'm happy with the changes and am still baffled how hard it is to get an update, especially when the audible BSM feature is a clear saftey enhancement.

That's the way it's been from the introduction of the giulia/stelvia, assuming all works well, as described in the manual ;)

did you do the module updates at the dealer? I don’t know if another way to do them, but I figured I’d ask. If there’s a way to do it away from the dealer, I’d love to know. If you did it at a dealer, I’m surprised they let you leave with errors.

They need to update the module or else it will not work. Easy entry in the menu requires a new module all together and they will never do that :) The same goes for the "auto on comfort" option in the menu. It hasn't been confirmed if it requires a new module all together or if we can simply change a byte in MES to enable it.

I had all my current modules updated to the latest version but it sounds like you're saying I need new hardware. I'm ok as is because it currently doesn't slide anymore with my current driving position
