Drove one yesterday for the first time. As a past Alfa owner, I was expecting mediocre quality, lots of enthusiasm, good driving dynamics, and a pretty face.

Well, after sitting in it, driving it, and the afterthought of what I had just experienced and witnessed, I was totally wrong...

Holy Mother of Christ: it's a Ferrari F430 (which I also owned years ago) but better quality, better looking, and almost on equal in driving dynamics. Completely blown away!!

I believe I have finally sold (fingers crossed) my brand new, overly priced, overly hyped, pretentious Cayenne Turbo. Boring. SUV in and out-- can drive like a car; but it ain't no saloon. Nice try, Porsche.

After leaving Alfa in 1993 (about the same time Alfa also left us), I switched to MB and then Porsche: Boxter, Cayman, a couple of 911, and Cayenne Turbo. Fine vehicles, no doubt. But today, Porsche comes up short for the $$ they ask. I am done with new cars, and I am done with Porche in general.

Driving the QV yesterday woke me up to the fact that, one, you don't need to always buy new; and, two, you can get something that hits you right in the heart and soul with a lot less money. The fact that I enjoy driving my daughter's Mini Cooper S more than my Cayenne was my first hint.

I am not in search for an Alfa QV because I want to save money; I am in it for the love of what I think is one of the finest driving vehicles on the road. Period.

Search begins. Althought, the one I drove yesterday is high on my list!!!
