So you're telling me it's safe to buy a 22 Giulia Quad? :)

On a semi-related note, one of the dealers I've been talking to indicated that Alfa is "phasing out" the Giulia to focus on the Stelvio. I'm not sure if he meant the Giulia Quad or all models, but interesting fodder nonetheless.
I don’t see them phasing out the Giulia—particularly the QV. In another thread based on last year’s sales numbers released by STLA—I was able to hypothesize that while 2.0 Stelvio’s outsold the 2.0 Giulia by 31%, the QV Giulia outsold the QV Stelvio by 29%. That’s without data on 2.0 vs. QV as they only group sales numbers as Giulia and Stelvio. So, yes buy a QV haha!

The Evija is the halo car in the Lotus world. Note how Emira and this new SUV pick up on the sesign language.

Emira is the mass market sports car.
I think the “Lotus World” as we know it is changing. The definition of a halo car isn’t mutually exclusive to the most expensive or rare—it requires some product elasticity behind it. Is there maybe 1 whole Evija in the US?

And it’s literally aimed at the top 1%—halo cars are obtainable on some level at scale of at least the top 10-15% of earners, and bring attention to the other models around them.

Just my two cents—but I can absolutely see the Emira at $75-100K (far from mass market) drawing in consumers to not just dream about owning one; but see themselves in one in their lifetime—maybe at the end of a 3 year lease on a less expensive, more practical model.

Lotus announcing EV SUV to go along with the Emira… inching closer to halo?
A halo car by definition is the one model that sit above the flagship car as the "dream car".

To again use Audi as an example, the A8L/S8 are the flagship cars. The R8 is the halo car.

So no, neither the Emira or the Eletra SUV will ever be a halo car, because they'll never sit above the Evija in the model line-up.

Let's get back to Alfa rumors! The refresh Stelvio and Giulia will have 360 degree camera, UConnect 5, ventilated seats, digital dash, reverse tilt mirrors, and larger touchscreen. If the refresh has these things, I will get one!

Catching up with North American Stellantis vehicles.

Agreed—just speculating :)

With the GTAm gone, it seems, at least to me, that the "halo car" is the current QV.

I really hope they grant us a couple of special editions before they stop production (straight-pipe akropovic exhaust would be nice)

Gone? Was it ever here?

Over here in the old world, the launch list seems to be the following

2022 Q2 Tonale MHEV
2022 Q4 Tonale PHEV
2022 Q4 Stelvio and Giulia facelift (MY23)
2023 Brennero (presentation)
2024 Brennero
2025 Stelvio II
2026 Giulia II
2027 E-SUV

the goal is to reach 200 000 units. If this goal is reached there will be projects like GTV, Spider, 33 Stradale nuovo etc where they will invite external coach builders, as in the good ol’ days.

Thanks. Now I’ve got my Swedish language lesson in for today! I’ll be there in May.

This is indeed currently the most probable list, circulating around Italian forums as well.

Haha! I posted that on a Swedish site first, and evidentily made a sloppy translation...

Anyway, sooner or later Swedish will rule the entire world, nay universe, so you'd better to get used to it already now.
I mean you guys went everywhere a thousand years ago, and now you have Chris Hemsworth (Thor), so I figure any day now.

Updated rumor on the AR halo car—MHEV with a mid-ICE making over 600HP. It will sit just under the MC20 in cost and power. Although, “starting under $300K” is more than what the MC20 starts at currently. Makes me wonder what’s in store for the MC20 by that time.

From a mild hybrid? Find that very hard to believe. They really just help with parking lots and start/stop.

Is your leak Ron or some random Italian blog?

Entirely possible that I misinterpreted the MHEV piece, the way it sounded to me, it would be part of the power plant, so I guess that would make it a PHEV hybrid? I am admittedly not current on anything EV. If what you’re describing is a MHEV, then I definitely did not interpret it correctly. “Power coming from a front battery and a mid-engine setup making over 600HP.” My source is definitely not Ron or any blogs. If I get the chance to ask again soon, I will get more clarification.

Questions:

Can you plug it in? If no, it’s a mild hybrid. They only charge via regen/the gas engine.

Is there more than one eMotor?

Can the eMotor drive the wheels above parking lot speeds?

Is the eMotor attached to the transmission, an axle or just to the engine?

Sometimes a small motor at the engine charges the battery and does start stop, while a bigger motor drives wheels, or like Maserati, the small one at the engine gives a boost.

600hp halo car that has some sort of hybrid system? Sounds a lot like the current NSX (which I don’t believe is a PHEV).

I’ll see what I can find out! Thanks for the suggested prompts and info!
