I'm in Austin, Texas and I feel like I shouldn't have to put up with the one dealer in the area charging $275 for an oil change. Are there any other dealers or mechanics in the area that will service Giulias, and that can reset the service interval in the infotainment?

I'd do it myself but I'm in the middle of a move and my tools are in another state. :(

Edit: I miss Birmingham, AL. It was less than a hundred there.

Wow. That is exactly half of what Nyle Maxwell Alfa Romeo charges. December 1, 2020, it was $260.85. They were fast and professional, in and out in an hour, but the charge is ridiculous. I left a review to that extent, which the GM responded to with

I appreciate this feedback regarding our prices as well. We hope to see you again! XXX YYY - General Manager

Funny. We hope to see you again so we can charge you 2x =)

There is an active chapter of the Alfa Romeo Owners Club (AROC) in/near Austin. There are active members on the alfabb dot c o m. They most likely will have good recommendations.

Most here agree that there is no good reason to stray from 0W-30 SN plus, and in fact, problems can occur if you do. Also, a worn serpentine drive belt can cause misfire codes, but not actual ignition misfiring. Search threads here for an explanation.

I did wind up going to euro fed to reset the damn service light. So silly It’s so complicated I did the actual work of changing the oil, just needed someone to reset the stupid light. They gave the job to a new guy and it took over 1.5 hours. He also ripped the battery cover out in the trunk, as he didn’t realize it was latched in place by two knobs.

not sure I will go back. I plan to do, and have been doing, all maintenance by myself but haven’t invested in the equipment needed to reset the service ought and bypass

@kamabazi, there are other threads here that discuss oil change options. IMO, one of the best is finding a DODGE RAM JEEP dealership that is willing to work on your Giulia. Several here, including myself, have had successful experiences at a DRJ dealership. Some of their models use the same (not exact, but very similar) 2.0 engine and require the same oil and filter. They also use the same WiTech scanner system that Alfa uses to reset the oil reminders, pull codes, etc. Be certain to make sure that they will only use the required MOPAR 0W-30 MaxPro + oil and a MOPAR MO-339 filter. They should have it all, in stock. The best part, the oil service will be about $70. plus tax.

I have been doing oil changes on my other cars but a little too much hassle with removing underbody covers and reset. Happy to pay reasonable price for oil change just not 3 times what it should be.

Can you recommend dealerships where they know how to to change Giulia oil? I am in North Austin.
Mak Haik Dodge is close by, other choice is Nyle Maxwell Dodge.
Will the old Nyle Maxwell which is now a fiat only dealership able to do it?

I was looking at CDJR dealership reviews on yelp in Austin area and most of them have horrendous ratings. Anyone can suggest a CDJR dealer they got the oil change done in Austin area with good experience? Service person name they worked with so they are already aware it can be done rather have I to convince them.
Thanks for all the help.

I am in N Austin and also have a RAM in addition to an Alfa. My ram has a lifetime warranty (both powertrain and "bumper to bumper" with many exclusions). I have used Mac Haik G'town I-35, Maxwell on 620 and Covert on 183. I will not let Covert touch another car I own, If you're really curious about why, PM me. Both Maxwell and Mac Haik said they won't work on these cars. I have a QV, but not sure that's really an important point (although QV oil change if you use the siphon technique is really easy, no need to even raise the car). But I suspect that could change depending on who you talk to. Maxwell is so booked out that you can't even get a timeslot on a car like a RAM for weeks... so it's unlikely they're eager to take on a science project. Mac Haik was less busy but also said they won't service them (but again this could possibly change).

Nyle Maxwell Alfa, when it was still there, made two mistakes on the one and only 1 oil change I let the dealer do (as it was complimentary): 1. they over-tightened the drain plug and rounded it off (and a fun note on that: I have bought 2 replacements and none fit!!!) and "lost" 4 of the pan screws. Of course, when they take the underpan off, they just throw the screws on the floor and then pick up what they can find easily which is obviously less than all of them, and that's what you get attached to the car... another reason why I insist on doing my own oil changes.

Madness, do you honor warranty claims on Alfa Romeos? If not factory, extended warranty claims? That would be extremely convenient for me as I live about 8 miles from you guys! :)

Hello Greg, Thank you for reaching out to us.

Unfortunately we cannot honor warranty claims.

We do have the knowledge and skill set to preform the work, but no way of being recouped through Alfa means we cannot honor Alfa warranty replacement for items.

If there is anything else we can help you with please don't hesitate to give us a call, or feel free to stop by. We always love the opportunity to meet local enthusiasts and check out their cars.

I had surgery on my arm recently and wanted to get the brake flush (3 year mark) done. I can change the oil and filter myself wtih 1 arm and the help of my wife, but taking off wheels and such isn't yet possible for me. I took it back to EuroFed and was happier this time... I think it was just the one tech that was green.

I'll wait for the cabin air filter change.... only have 9800 miles anyway.

@mikoz , with only 9800mi, why change belt? Age? If it still looks good; no cracking, I wouldn't worry.

#44 ·
What version? 2.0 or 2.9? I would never use any product on the serpentine belt, btw. 2.0 is a simple job, with two hands that is.

CRC Belt Conditioner, "Not for sale in Catalina Island". LOL :ROFLMAO:
I would never use such a product on my cars.

I called Euroworx, $359 for the oil change and they were truthful and said they can reset the service light but not infotainment. I appreciate the honesty. I'm in a 2 year old leased 2021 with 14k miles, so mainly looking for the oil change without the ~$1000 that the maserati/alfa dealership is asking for before i return it. I guess I may be down to the chr/dodge/ram/jeep options and some finger crossing.

I assume the 1000$ number is said tongue in cheek? If they're really asking anywhere close to that… man, that’s ridiculous.

if they lack the ability to reset the infotainment I’d just go somewhere else. I’m sure eurofed can do it and I know they can reset the infotainment.

I diy my oil change, it’s really not difficult just time consuming with the undertray. For a qv, you need 7 quarts at about 8 bucks a quart for pennzoil plus a 72-ish dollar filter.… that’s about 135 in parts, add another 12 or so if the washer is changed.

Nyle Maxwell screwed up my 1-yr complimentary change… they ”lost’ a few undertray bolts and overtightened and slightly rounded off the drain bolt, which I had to replace (which itself was an ordeal, the replacement did not fit even though it was the right part). Goes to show you that yiu have to be picky who you let touch your cars, although I am not leasing so I guess your circumstance could be different.

the infotainment reset on these cars is stupid. you should be able to reset things yourself without special tools.

I have the MES software and OBD interface I use to reset the service in the infotainment and ECU/dash. I change my oil at 5k miles and have two Alfas so it’s worth it for me. My Stelvio QV will need the belt job fairly soon, anyone in Austin have it done at an independent shop? Is dealer the only option?

Any conclusion what is a good place to get oil change for Giulia who can also reset infotainment message?
I was at Alfa of Austin recently and oil change is $375, got it done last year I believe it was $325 but with the 4 year service well over $600. They will not reset your infotainment message unless you get all the yearly services done with them.

Last year I had called a couple of CJDR dealers in the area but did not get warm and fuzzy that they are willing to do it. If things have changed since then pls chime.

I am near Georgetown, so south Austin will be a drive.
