So, this past weekend we decided to take our '17 Giulia to kids B-day party a few hours away from home. Almost rented a car, but decided against last minute. Long of it is, we get to to town after +2 hours in LA traffic in 90 degree heat and suddenly I get the S/S unavailable error, lightning and service error messages as the car proceeds to cut out completely.
Luckily I wasn't in deadstop traffic and was in fairly slow city streets and came to stop in a turning lane.
Tried to re-start to no avail. Car starter would turn over consistently but not run. I proceeded to call for roadside assistance with my car insurance while I had family members come to aid as the party was less than a mile from where we broke down. Being out of town, the nearest AR dealer was 40 minutes away so I arranged to tow it there. Dealership service was at closed at time, but they would take car in until the evening and not be able to look at it until Monday morning. Great. As I waited to confirm a tow-truck enroute, I tried to start it and low and behold it starts but error messages still present. I move it out of the street and into a strip mall parking area. At this point I'm thinking do I let it sit and cancel towing? Maybe it is a temperature problem. I wouldn't think a battery it drove 2 hours straight.
There are no performance mods to this car and it has approximately 33K. We just got it used from member here in Dec 2021 and no issues like this. I actually chanced it and let it sit until late evening and it drove back home. A gutsy move I know. The error messages actually went away after I gassed it up for the drove home.
Not sure what to make of this and how I should proceed. Inform my extended warranty(purchased immediately after I bought the car) and seek out dealer assistance? Nearest dealer is 45 min away. My local mechanic is 4 blocks. The other thought is having him run quick diagnostic and battery check.
This being my wife's DD I think I might start with calling warranty, Any other suggestions?
Sorry for the long drawn out back story.
