I was reluctant to do this but I decided enough already so I am calling out Cutter Dodge on their practices…

They refused to take my car in unless I signed these. I signed the papers, told them I was going to grab something from my car and just drove off.

I waited until I sent it in before making the post. My hunch was correct. The service person said they don’t work on Alfa Romeo period and they expected me to sign a waiver to give up my right to an estimate before starting work when I tried to get just the oil changed. Got back in my car and drove off. Oh well, back to the drawing board.

*edited to add that I may just ask for a refund on all my warranties
That really sucks. I'm sorry.

Such a shame that Alfa is letting masterpiece like the giulia/Giorgio be run into the ground for things like this :(

I do wonder how to deal with the recall though.
I've followed your saga for a while now, and with each post was hoping for the best. At this point, I'd consider calling your state's Attorney General's office and see what they have to say - at least with regards to the recall. You have a safety issue with your car - it needs to be dealt with one way or another. You could bring up the other warranty issues in general but a safety recall night get their attention a little quicker.

I have no idea what it costs to ship a car across the Pacific Ocean; I think it was @wingler who said he'd have the car on the first boat back to the mainland. Try to sell it through friend. I don't know what your financial situation is with the car and I don't want to guess - if I were making payments and now had to pay for warranty work, I'd find a way to get rid of the car. Preferably selling it, but.... ;)

Seriously, I'd call the AG and see what they might be willing to do. Personally, IMO, Alfa should have to buy the car back if they can't honor your warranty contract (OEM/Factory) and aren't willing to offer a reasonable exception/alternative. Alas, to quote a famous character - "That's just, like, my opinion, man..."

I continue to wish you the best and hope for a decent outcome.

I’m modifying my advice — I’d put the car on the next boat to the mainland. Or sell it locally if there’s someone willing to buy it without Dealer support. Even if some Jeep dealer is coerced into working on the car, I wouldn’t be very optimistic that it would go well. It’s iffy enough with a willing dealer!

Port to port looks like around $2000 give or take from Hawaii to Long Beach. And it has to be correct because I read it on the internet....

It's $1,650 to ship from Long Beach to here. It's less to ship from here to Long Beach. Matson. I used them dozens of times.

Yeah. I’ve got nothing to lose.
It does seem like the fix for the Airbag connector should be available at your local CJDR dealer since it also affects Jeep Renegade. They will have the parts and the knowledge, question is will if they be permitted to claim the cost of the warranty repair on an Alfa.

Same port different boat.

We have a 2018 Guilia here in Honolulu. It sucks not having AR here. Just this past weekend half the sunroof won’t close and now stuck open. No function at all. Called AR they said the car is out of warranty. And we’d have to pay out of pocket. But nobody here will touch it. AR said they will have Cutter contact us. Which was a week ago. We’re still Waiting to hear back from Cutter… but I don’t think they either one cares really.

What were you expecting would happen when you called AR? They would send a ship to pick it up and bring it to the mainland for a free repair all while you are out of warranty?

Moving forward you can expect this same result. Plan accordingly.

We may have to sort of band together and reach out to euro tuners/mechanics. If they see that there is a real demand for Alfa service they may invest in the tools needed to perform the work. Maybe we need to start learning as a group to perform these repairs as a team? Does anyone have MES? It’s one thing to expect warranty work, it’s a whole different beast when NOONE in the state will touch an Alfa.

Hi I'm glad I found this post. I'm about to move from Napoli Italia (where literally every shop will work on my Giulia) to Honolulu. I've owned it 5 years and have the extended warranty, which I was looking forward to when I got back to the USA. Seems like that's a bust. I'll try to sell it before I get out there. I will bring some old Alfas because they're simple and easy to work on and I can fix everything myself. It is a real shame that it went down this way in Honolulu. I've had a great experience with mine, but don't want to roll the dice for two years...

Let me know when you get here. I'll take you out for sushi.

Glad to find the post here, lived in Honolulu ans ready to get a used 2018 red alfa giulia recently and considering ordering the mopar max care on it. I know alfa quit hawaii this May but never expect that dodge jeep refuse to work on it. From my research on reddit, in mainland you can have them maintain your car and even some parts are shared. These brands all tied together at least in US. Thats a shock and I might have to reconsider the purchase.

I know the individual who owns that car. Stand up guy. I plan on buying the warranty when my car is repaired from a recent hit and run and then shipping it to the mainland once a year to drive the canyons and get it worked on.
