Hi guys, so basically I bought a car 4-5 months ago it was a dealer loaner had 13,000 miles on it. I took it in to have it serviced about a month ago it had right around 20,000 miles on it. I got told my tires needed replaced. So that bummed me out but I bought the tire warranty so the faulty wear on my tires should be covered but was not. Anyway after a giant runaround between every dealership near me Alfa’s customer service they told me tough luck because the very first technician labeled it regular wear and tear(doesn’t matter that others had said different) both my tires are chewed on the front of my awd guilia, but it’s just the inside inch. They have told me they will doing nothing about it and tire money and an alignment has to come out of my pocket... less than 10,000 miles after it was purchased.... If anybody has any ideas that would help this headache let me know. Here’s a pic of the tires and the email I sent them earlier. (After alfa closed my case and I posted on Instagram) There is plenty of tread left on the rest of tire.
Hey,
My name is Solaris Cardelli and I received a comment from you guys on my Instagram to email you guys with more details about the issues I was having issues with your customer services from the dealership I purchased the car, which was Crisswell Alfa In Germantown Maryland. I purchased my 2018 alfa romeo guilia about 5 months ago and have put 10,000 miles on the vehicle. Around 8 after purchase is when I noticed my front two tires were worn on the inside inch, you could literally see the cords. The rest of tire has normal tread and the backs are fine as well. I took it to the dealership I live closest too and they said I needed 4 new tires and my mopar tire warranty didn’t cover the alignment issue causing the tires to wear in such a way. So I called Crisswell and they told me to open a case with Alfa which I did which they closed around 3,000 miles later saying it was not a warranty issue but a dealership issue. I got back in touch with Crisswell after they sent back to talk to Alfa again where I spoke to a sales rep named James who understood and was by far the nicest person I’ve spoken with in the whole process and agreed that this is not an issue I should’ve come across within 7,000 miles of owning the car. He got me on the phone with Robert the sales manager who proceeded to tell me my case was closed and the situation was dealt with. And then told me the dealership closest to me should have fixed the issue when I brought it in and it wasn’t there issue at all even though I bought the car from them. When I was purchasing the car I asked my salesman Alberto if the car had had an alignment I was told it did then sold a tire warranty for any tire issues I might come across. Alfa promises “road ready” vehicles and my car is not drive able my tire pressure light is on and still after weeks of this process no one especially Crisswell will help come up with a solution. Robert the sales manager at Crisswell said he spoke to the service manager and they did send me my service records, there is no alignment recorded. I have talked to kristy the finance manager and she really couldn’t do much (which is understandable) and she sent me to speak to Robert who argued with me about my vehicle and then today after I told him alfa had told me to take it up with the dealership told me he refuses to do anything about it until Alfa calls him and tells him too. So he told me to give Alfa a call(again). I am thoroughly displeased with my customer service from Crisswell, along with my new car that’s not drive able. So I’m sure you can see how frustrating this ordeal has been. I have attached a picture of my tire with it’s fair amount of tread and the inner cords you can see on my front tires.

The fact that they told you the tires needed replacing makes me think they knew there was a problem.

Have you taken it to an independent mechanic to get it checked out?

right... but they blamed it on regular wear and tear. And no I haven’t I was trying to avoid that so alfa could not later say we’re not responsible because your car was worked on elsewhere but maybe I should....

That is NOT regular wear and tear. There is still tread on the outer portion of the tread, and it's corded out on the inside. That's a severe toe and/or camber issue. Fight them, fight them hard.

I think I’m going to take it elsewhere have a report done on it and then tell them ill bring my attorney in to it maybe that will get them to fix it but I swear I expected Mercedes quality customer service and got basically the farthest thing from that. I got told it wasn’t there issue and argued with by the dealership I purchased it from because they had already dealt with me?.

Thought i’d Chip in here. Your tracking is out. Maybe camber also, Fact is, you can knock that out just by rolling up kerbs or generally poor roads. That is why you won’t get warranty ‘wear & Tear’ best practice is to keep an eye on tyre wear and get the alignment done as soon as you see unusual wear. Some manufacturers are known for wearing tyres unevenly and you may not be able to improve in some cases. Get vehicle 4 wheel aligned with a print out. Watch tyre wear and move on.

How can you roll up on a curb with the inside of the tire? You can't without other major under body damage to go along with that.

I have around 11.5k miles on my 2018 Q4 ti sport. Just had it in for it's second oil change last week and decided to have the full 10k service done at the nearest Alfa dealership (its basically an oil change and check levels, check s/w, etc.). They checked all four tires for wear and the report says:

LF: 4-5-4
RF: 4-5-4
LR: 4-5-4
RR: 4-5-4

Assuming these are in mm. In my case, it looks like the tire wear is very even on all four wheels which is good. There is less wear in the center of the tire which maybe normal, not sure. But at least I don't have the issue that the OP has. Definitely would get a full wheel alignment before getting many miles on new tires.

Both the front tires look this way. Backs are fine and all still have tread except that inside inch. But in all reality I drive my car 5 min away and back for groceries and what not. I even walk to work it’s mostly a very expensive lawn ornament.?? but what do you mean by suspension?

The bigger issue is there is something completely whacked out on your alignment that needs to be fixed before you just replace the tires or you'll be in the same boat again in 10,000 miles. Get an alignment from a reputable shop.

I can guarantee you the dealer won't stand behind this, you drove it for 10,000 miles but maybe they'll prove me wrong.

Also, I hit a pothole hard enough to break a wheel last winder and alignment was checked but not adjusted. I saw the report. The suspension is not a wilting flower, something or someone happened to your car - Oh yes, it was a demo.

BTW, we have bought a demo before and require a computer generated alignment report before we bought.

Good luck

They hit me with the car would not have been sold without an alignment under Maryland law it wouldn’t have passed inspection otherwise. But I saw the service report and the only thing on there was a brake line repair. And honestly I get them not doing anything (Alfa) but the dealership was just rude. And completely ridiculous, you’d think they’d at least offer to do the alignment on them but at this point I’m sick of the shitty service I got about it. And the sales said it had been aligned before I bought it also but I never got it in writing ugh, And that I pay extra for a basically invalid tire warranty. Just don’t buy your Alfa’s from Crisswell.
