Drove the car into the office this morning -- no driveability issues and no warning lights. Everything was normal. About an hour later I get a notification on my phone from the Alfa Connect app saying that my car needs service due to a Malfunction Indicator Light Alert. Odd, since my car has been sitting in the parking lot for over an hour.

Anyway, I went out to the car and started it -- it starts fine and no warning lights. So, I take it for a spin around the block and still no issues and no warning lights. Just ignored and went back to work.

End of day, uneventful drive home -- normal drivability and no warning lights. Then I check my email and I see that Alfa Connect sent me an email with the subject "ATTN: Vehicle Malfunction Indicator Light Alert". The time listed is around the same time that I got the notification on my phone. Funny that it says "if the problem persists, I need to call my dealer ASAP." As far I can tell, the problem never existed. lol

I’ve seen the same reported by a couple of other people either here or on the Stelvio forum. Problem reports from the app, no error lights in the car or drivability issues. Did you try scanning the car for codes just to see if anything turns up?

Well, I got another notification today. This time it said, "you have a new vehicle health update." So, I launched the app and checked the vehicle health report. The mysterious fault is gone! In fact, the health report now says "All Good".

I'll still check for codes later this week, but as @wingler already said, I'm pretty sure that this is an app issue and not a vehicle issue.

I wasn’t subscribing (after my 1 year trial period), but for a while I had the Vehicle Health reports, and then one day that functionality just disappeared. Then it wouldn’t let me register my Stelvio when I purchased it a year ago, and hours on the phone with both the service provider and the app developers couldn’t resolve.

I got frustrated and closed my account and deleted the app.

I never turned on Alfa Connect. If something goes wrong I'll see it on my dashboard. Why would I want another app spying on me, especially these type of automobile apps similar to OnStar that record everything your car does and where it goes and often sells the information to data aggregators, which sell it to whoever will pay for it, including insurance companies.
