A few quick questions about a potential purchase tomorrow on a new 24' QV

Hey there. I'm about 24hrs away from going to dealer to sign on a 24' QV with carbon roof and sparco's. 15k off msrp was agreed upon. I think that's the going rate? However part of the deal was I get the extended warranty. Which I wanted anyways, but wanted to get it from Tom at Lafontaine (sp?).

Obviously they will make money on the backend and markup the warranty. I planned on just canceling the warranty within the 60 days for a refund. Then rebuying it. I spoke to Tom and he will be sending me a quote tomorrow morning, but when I had mentioned my goal he warned me to make sure I can cancel it and most likely they arent selling the Mopar warranty but a 3rd party? Now I'm a little paranoid that it's not the Maxcare, and wont be able to cancel it. I told them I wanted max care which I think is now labeled as extended care premium?

How can I confirm what they are selling me is the Mopar extended warranty and fully refundable so I can then rebuy it with Tom?

They are quoting me 4300 for a 5yr/75k w. 200 deductible o_O

One last major favor, doe anyone have the height of the front and back rocker panel to ground clearance? Nervous about my driveway. Had a Cayman that I need ramps to get up and was a major annoyance.

Lastly are the sparco's the right choice? Im bummed they arent heated or I lose the memory option. I get its the lightweight version, but I'm torn whether I want the convenience. This will be my daily albeit short daily commute.

Ask for a copy of the warranty before you sign. Should be easy enough to confirm it’s MaxCare/Flexcare. Even if it is and you canx immediately I suspect you will lose a few a $s, it won’t be 100% of the purchase price.

Also, if it is MaxCare 5/75 plan, that’s only 1 year beyond the factory warranty, as the term starts with the original in service date of the car. Seems fishy.

5 years at 4,300 comes out to $71 per month, from the sale date. Paying 2-3 months of that (before your cancellation goes into effect) comes out to 200. If wanting to do the dealer a solid, maybe you can just offer to pay $250 - 300 more for the car on the purchase price, and remove the warranty from the equation? Especially if you're financing, since the dealers tend to clump that hefty warranty price onto the loan amount.

I'm not sure how the money works for the dealer on these warranty sales -> cancellations, but I'd thought their revenue is correlated with the # of months you keep it. Perhaps not a direct linear correlation. I'd be fascinated to know how the dealer math works.

I recommend skipping out on extended warranty entirely. These are very reliable cars, especially without sunroof. I preferred the regular seats for comfort and reduced probability of future rattles.

I got a quote from tom and zeigler and had my local dealer price match. Extended warranty is a good idea if you plan on keeping the car past the factory warranty. If you’re someone who goes through cars every couple of years and wouldn’t keep this more than 4/50 then don’t worry about it.
Congrats on the car! Sparcos were a must for me, I wouldn’t own this car with regular seats as it feels way too pedestrian with the base seats. Seating position is much better in Sparcos and they look incredible.
Now post some pictures!

Might be unpopular opinion, but after owning both versions, I actually prefer the standard seats to the sparcos. No heat, no memory, and they are a pain to get in and out of. Also, they aren't really any lighter than the standard seats, which is pretty shocking in its own right.
everyone has different needs. its definitely a bummer as I would have loved the memory seats

Yes, the weight savings are actually negligible, which is pretty wild when you think about it.
yea its not like this is some GT3RS, the whole "weight savings" is a bit silly in this car. its mainly cool factor

Would the OP fix the title of this thread? I don't think he is looking a 24 foot long limo version of a QV, but rather a 2024 = '24 model year.

For whatever reason there is a bit more leg room in the rear seat with the Sparcos.
I am still looking for a pair of Sparcos with damaged upholstery (e.g. blown air bag) so that I can see if it is possible to redo them with seat heaters and red all leather upholstery.

Since you're going to redo them anyway, I believe they are just a version of the Sparco SPX seat, which is cheaper to source to begin with, maybe that route could work?
