280hp Turbo part number

Hi all, my MY19 Veloce has suffered the P0299 and after replacing all the “cheap” parts, looks like the turbo wastegate is the reason.

After looking for a new/refurbished turbo, I’ve faced that the 280 has an especific part number, which in theory is different to the 200.

But also I’ve found a vendor on ebay, which ensures me that his turbo ( new with mopar ref ) is for a 280, but on the Garrett catalogue, appears for: AR Giulia 200 and Chrysler type 949 and 952 2.0T 272hp

Anyone know something about compatibilities, differences o something like that?
The price difference is quite important to have the doubt.

Yes, that was the info I’ve always read “200 and 280 are essentially the same”. My shop told me that they are not 100%, after doing a swap on a customer with broken 200hp engine.

And with that info, and after looking into Garrett catalogue, the confidence on spending almost 1000€ on the best looking ad on ebay has gone.
Because as you say 949 ( Stelvio ) and 952 ( Giulia ) should be and ok to go, but the “GME 2.0T 272hp” never existed, apart from Jeep, and that is a bit disappointing.

According to Garrett:
  • 877436-0001 => This is my turbo now ( only appears for 280hp )
  • 871794-5008S => New reference for 280hp
Both GT2056KSZ turbocharger.

- 877321-5007S => From ebay vendor, MGT2056Z part number, for “Chrysler 949-952 272hp” and “Giulia 200hp, with GT2056KSZ”

Maybe it’s my impression, but I think it is either very clear and confusing 😅

AFAIK this was what I knew, both 200 and 280, had the same engine ( ecu tune, oil cooler apart ), but I've also read in this forum I think, that 280 ( EU Euro6D ) had a bigger turbo, which would be in line with the different part numbers.

Let me show you the investigation results from Garrett catalogue website, I've made these days before posting:

  • This for my actual turbocharger ( last revised version, but main number is the same ) if you look for it directly - LINK 1
  • This is when you look for car brand/model - LINK 2
  • This one is the eBay seller part number where appears the "non existing" power range - LINK 3

Totally agree not to trust the vendors, that was the reason of the research and almost becoming crazy hahaha. Let me also attach the eBay add you can see looks very trustworthy. - EBAY

I also planned ( depending on the cost ) to buy a hybrid one, even though I'm not planning doing most than a basic stage 1 to get over the 300 number, with the oem turbo.
