hi folks - got my 2018 Giulia Ti Q4 about 3 weeks ago and been loving it. What an awesome car.
I had a strange glitch happen to me a couple of times now - The radio station wont change to the next preset. On both occasions, started the car in the morning, drove off, after a few mins when ads came on my preset FM station, tried to change the station using the steering wheel buttons, center console button, and screen nagivation option including preset shortcuts at the bottom. The station will just not change. Tried shutting the car off at a traffic light, but you cant really completely power off the car unless you exit it. Didnt make a difference. I can switch to XM radio, or use other menu options in the info system, but cant change the radio station. I have the Harman Kardon system in my Ti.

has anyone had this happen to them? any ideas? I cant find a way to reboot the entire infotainment system.

Yes I’ve had this same glitch. Turning the infotainment system on/off did not “reboot” the system per se nor did it resolve my issue with the preset channels not changing with the steering wheel controls and the control knob on the center console.

With all of my various infotainment glitches, what “fixed” them was turning turning the car off, getting out, locking the car and walking away for 6-8hours. This seems to be a long enough period to allow all the various electronic modules to “go to sleep” and thus reset when the car is restarted. If the proximity key is still within range the affected modules may not go to sleep. A quick on/off cycle of the car’s ignition has typically not been sufficient to reboot the system and remedy the issue, at least in my experience.

I had a loaner car that had the same issues. It did not change the radio stations to the next preset, it would simply go to the next station. Getting out of the car and back in did nothing. Given it was a loaner I didn't care. But this would drive me nuts. If you have a dealer nearby, bring it in. These may be "minor" problems, but you paid for a car that has everything working. If you went to a store and something was missing from your bag, you'd want it back. Plus, if you have a long commute, even more annoying for infotainment to go bonkers.

With stuff like this, especially intermittent issues that don’t store diagnostic trouble codes in non-volatile memory, it’s not always worth my while to have a dealer attempt to diagnose and repair. Sometimes living with intermittent faults is the lesser of two evils. Certainly any time you take your car in for service there is potential for service error and accidental damage while in their care. Maybe if decent loaner cars were easier to come by. I’ve been waiting 5 weeks now and counting for a loaner to become available to minimize the hassle of a needed warranty repair.

they will pretend it isn't. So will Alfa (does not) Care. Then you will wait for 3 days for a supervisor from Alfa to tell you he isn't a tech. This company is a joke. Regretting not going w/ the XE or BMW.

Congrats on your purchase, aka. We see you plan on visiting the dealer. If any assistance is needed, please do not hesitate to let us know.

My recommendation is to first call and determine when they can have a loaner available. I waited for 12 days for a battery without the use of a loaner. On the 12th day, I asked for a loaner and then the dealer pulled a battery from another car and installed it in mine.

FCA will pay for an Enterprise rental car if it’s a warranty issue. Loaners are on a per dealer basis. It seems most Alfa dealers are too broke to afford them. I’ve been waiting 6 weeks so far and counting for my local dealer to make one of their two loaners available because I don’t want to drive another Jeep Patriot for an undetermined period of time again.

Still curious - has this happened to anyone else? It occurs occasionally in my car and the service manager at my dealer is not responsive

16k and almost 1 year, infotainment issues, blank screen and rebooting, 2 updates later and so for no more problems. Never had the station lock.

Hi aka,

Would you like us to escalate to a Case Manager in an effort to close the gap between you and the dealer? Send us a direct message with your VIN as we'd be glad to help with this.

Any luck?

I am having the same problem only 3 months after purchasing. Has anyone found out a fix or heard from a dealer on what needs to be done?

Thanks
Tom

Updating to the latest infotainment software is the only thing that might fix it. Update availability is determined on a case by case basis. It helps if your car exhibits symptoms per existing RRT or TSB.

Had this happen once, couldn't change the radio station through any means, not just presets. Also once, couldn't access the AM band (it would just skip over to FM, satellite was ok). I can't recall for sure - I don't think powering infotainment off/on was enough, think it didn't fix/reset itself until entire car powered off/on. Had the car about 2 months at the time, MY18. Glitchy.

I just had this happen on the drive home tonight - tried to change radio channels on my steering wheel and nothing, same with the dial - it's just stuck on the channel. I can switch to xm as others have said, but the radio is just stuck. I have a 1 week old 18 Ti Sport. I'm going to be back in the car in about 10 minutes - we'll set if it fixes itself in that time...

It fixed itself when I started my car again. It had only been turned off for 10-15 minutes. Hopefully it's not something that happens often.

I'm starting to go through all the issues and thinking that happened to me, I understand that, I went through that, oh brother same thing with the radio can't change the station it happens so infrequently I just look at it as one of the cars quirks glad I'm not alone with this ghost as I call it
