Is there a trick to opening the trunk? When I use the fob, it takes two or three attempts and it seems I must aim it perfectly in the direction of the trunk button.

when I try to open the trunk manually by simply pressing the button, it has not opened once. obviously I made certain the car was unlocked.

thank you for the help on this.

I haven't had that problem. Only time it won't open with the FOB is when I remote start it first. Does everything else work fine with the FOB?

yes, all functions of the fob work well w/ exception to the trunk release.

the release works w/ the fob...it just seems to require some real convincing. what about the trunk button itself? should that not work by simply pressing? what am I missing?

thank you for responding rvaaf.

My trunk release button is sometimes a bit hard to activate, but it always works after squeezing it around a bit. Maybe it just likes to be fondled.
As for the FOB, be sure to click it twice in rapid succession. The service department at my dealership showed me that both the remote start and the trunk release work best when the button is pressed quickly - bam, bam.
Works every time now.

Another forum member had numerous strange things happen with door locks and such caused by a defective body control unit (BCM?). You might want to have your dealer run a diagnostic.

Hi ferraripete,

Sorry to hear about this! If you end up deciding to visit your local dealership for further diagnosis I'd be happy to offer assistance if needed. Just send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.

Yes if you have the key fob on you the trunk should open simply by pressing the button under the trunk ledge to the left of center.

There are 2 trunk buttons on the car. One has a bumpy texture, this is the door lock/unlock button, and the other is smooth, this is the trunk. Trunk is to the left of the door.

Fob is 2 pushes. If this is all correct, then get them to look at the BCM as others suggested.

take it back to the dealer but first call "Alfa Romeo Premium Care" (844-253-2872) to open a case, they need to know about all the problems with this car, no matter how small it is.

Do tell.

simply put...I am too busy to read the owners manual. I was pressing the trunk release once on the fob where it is now clear that you must press it twice in quick succession. all is good again:)
