My 2019 Giulia Q4 has the stock 17" wheels with the Pirelli P7 Run Flats (yuch). I want to upgrade the tire, but at this time because I live in the NYC area, do not want to go 18 or 19. Terrible road conditions. Considering the Continental DWS 06 Plus, but wonder if I can upgrade size to 245/45x17 or 235/45x17, using the stock wheels, for a performance gain. Any potential for rubbing?

Not sure what the OEM 17" size is, but I would think your 235 option would be fine. Maybe also look at 245/40/17.

OEM size is 225/50x17.

Given the road hazards of which I am familiar with, I would stick with the stock 225 or if you want a bit wider 235-50/17 should work fine. Premium brand ultra high performance all season available in those sizes while giving enough sidewall for protection. The 245 width is the max size for the OEM 7.5 " rim.

Here's a good size comparison site. Keep it under 3% difference.
The 245/45/17 option is .69%.
235/50/17 is 1.5%
Either should work.

Not yet. Was hoping to find out if anyone is using 245/45x17. Stock size 225/50x17 Michelin is out of stock.

i can get 235/45x17, but the diametere is almost 1/2 inch smaller. This will affect speedo and also will it show a larger gap between fender and tire?

Check out the Bridgestone Potenza RE980AS+, a VERY good nimble tire, more nimble than the Michelin Pilot A/S 3+ that I had.

I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport AS4. However, my main interest is to add more contact patch, using stock 17" wheels, if possible.
