I have had my TI for almost 3 months and 2000 miles. Today I received a warning message on my dashboard telling me that my start stop was malfunctioning and does not work. I do not know if I should be upset or really happy. Has anyone had this issue and will it affect anything else in my car if I do not have it repaired?

Did you recently open your hood? if so make sure the hood is close properly. Remember the latches are on two sides of the hood and not in the middle. For some reason, if the hood isn't latched on properly, start/stop error message will show up.

hope it helps.

It seems like Giulia's go through this at some point in their early lives. I had the same issue which cleared up after opening and closing the hood as mentioned above (~720 miles). BUT it returned about a week later (~800 miles) at random and nothing was getting rid of the error. Instead of diag-ing and fixing the issue (I'm an ex auto tech and active weekend wrencher) I took it to the dealer so they can record my issue(s) in case of a lemon law situation and they ultimately had to remove "a bunch of stored and active codes" (specific right?). Since then I've done a 2300 mile round trip with 4 days of spirited mountain driving mixed in there and she's been amazing. My guess is the modules are all learning to play nice with each other. Not sure what the specific trigger is.

Short version: take it to the dealer to get the issue logged and cleared. My dealer did it quick and had the car back to me in less than 24 hours.

To get rid of error if it is not serious just enough to stop/start your car 3 times, works for all random errors popping. Noticed that it happened on somewhere 4k km and 8k km, close to 2k miles mark. I'm confident that probably some kind of diagnostic goes wrong on every 4k and causes error.

If your hood is properly latched, make an appointment with the dealer and take it in for them to look at.

Alfa needs to be aware of your problem and fix it. Do not attempt any shade tree mechanical work on your car. This does no one any good and won't "fix" the main problem.

Hi Ms.Giulia#1,

Congratulations on your Giulia purchase! As you can see from the previous posts, there may be a few things you can try--however, if we can help get you back in to your Studio, if needed, we would love to do that! Send us a private message with your VIN if you need any assistance!

Mine does this intermittently, the dealer was not able to fix it via software updates. I don't think Alfa understand what is causing this. Maybe soon they will and I will bring it back in to see.
