Well, it has happened. My first issue :grin2:

Let me first say this car has been an immense joy to own. 4,300 problem free miles until now. Yes, I have a squeaky blower fan...

At first I thought it was the notorious HK speaker rattle/squeak that others had reported but it was extremely hard to pin point. However I noticed the squeak wasn't consistent and seemed to vary with temperature.

Finally on my drive home tonight, frustrated, I finally just turned off the blower fan and the squeak went away. Sooo much satisfaction!

In any event, I'm only posting this to show

1. I'm not a complete Alfa fan boy and still have my head on my shoulders.

2. Curious if anyone else has had this happen.

Let me know and let's not let this thread get side tracked.

Thanks

Raphael

i have found that on mine it wasnt the blower fan making noise but the vent controls not fully closing so it was letting a bit of high pressure air out which was causing my odd noise.

I just noticed this as well yesterday. I'm at around the ~4500 mile mark. I recently ordered a Remus exhaust on black Friday which should solve having to hear this anymore... lol.

The car is too quiet inside where if anything remotely touches anything, you'll hear it squeak or rattle.

At cold temperatures, I'm noticing a noise as well, But only when I'm taking a turn and the car shifts to the right or left a little.
Very Strange...!
When I turn off the heating system it disappears.
Anymore feedback on this? could there be a TSB?

It’s happening to me too. 2500 miles, I turned the fan up and down manually and it chirps faster and slower with the fan speed. I really don’t want someone tearing into the dashboard though so I’ll see if it gets better or worse before the warranty is up. Maybe louder exhaust IS the solution.

I understand how this would be frustrating, markinmad. Feel free to send us a private message if you decide to have your dealer address this so we can assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

I am having this problem too. A high pitched squeal that varies with fan speed and stops when I turn the fan off. Some days a normal radio volume cannot drown it out. Other days it disappears completely. I asked the dealer to look at it and got a very aggressive "could not duplicate" from him including a claim that the owner of the dealer sat in the car and could not hear anything. So of course, they had it on a good day and they felt the need to shut me up for good with their response. Very disappointing. And they give it back to me and its 2 days straight of squealing. I am dreading going back to them. They clearly do not believe me.

Record it on your phone next time it happens.

If I close some of the vents, the a/c makes some weird noises. I fix it by lowering the air or opening the vents

Yes this happened to me. Of course I took it to the dealership. They said if you close the vents off (center controls) but air on (AZ it is usually highest speed) you will force the air to go into a small opening hence the squeel. My husband explained the same thing but of course I had to verify that:eek:) so I got an I told you so and moved on. Made sense.

Anyone get this fixed? Mine has been doing it for about a year now. Figured out it’s the fan because it stops when I shut the fan off. Must be jiggling around in there. Only does it when the car is moving. So something has to be loose. And I have an exhaust and it doesn’t drown it out. I’m dreading taking it it in because dealers never can “duplicate the problem.” I’ll be making a recording of it on the drive home today. It sounds like a zipper jingling very faintly. But it’s enough to drive me crazy. With the winter coming, I can’t just shut the fan off. Guess I’ll just have to get my head in the right place to raise **** if they give me any crap about not hearing it.

Yes, I also have this same issue. Faint zipper jingling or cricket sound. Mine seems louder with heat having on versus only the A/C. I will be taking my ca to the dealer for the recalls we'll see what they say about the went noise.

Mine just started squealing as well (got it in April of 2018, have 4800 miles - a 2017 model though). Gonna take her in this weekend to get checked out. I also have a creak when accelerating from the front cowel area- sounds like it's the cluster covers over the speedometer and tachometer. Gonna get that checked out as well - hopefully it's just a matter of tightening or adding some padding.

I just tried to PM you, but the rules of this site won't let me until I post at least 10 times. I submitted a video documenting the noise to my dealer (Jake Sweeney, Florence KY) and they say that they can't fix it unless they hear the noise in person. Since it can go several days with no noise and then several days with noise, and appointments are scheduled 1-2 weeks in advance, who knows how it will behave when it gets there. I am beyond frustrated. An $80,000 car that I can't stand to drive because it makes a noise like a dental drill being shoved into my ear and all my dealer does is raise my blood pressure. If you can help, please do so, because this stuff is not helping Alfa's reputation.
