Spring mods = Porsche GT3RS killer!

89782 Views 412 Replies 44 Participants Last post by  Avnyc11
And so it begins...
Custom fender flares, 305s in front on 10.5” wheels, 325s in rear on 11.5” wheels, camber kit giving -2.5 camber and new ECUtune, high flow cats, 3” exhaust, carbon intakes giving 650hp. And still very streetable.
BC Forged will have my custom wheels made in about five weeks. Will have all the rest of the other work done by then. Should be a fun spring for me but I imagine a lot of expensive two door sports cars owners are going to be pretty shocked at the track!

That wheel is "shock and awe" on that black car!!! Don't let the boys back at Maserati see this.
Yeah it is pretty spectacular looking it might actually work too if someone was to get 4 front Maserati 9” wide wheels. But because they’re 20 inch diameter you would have to have a very low profile tire.
These “Birdcage” wheels look pretty cool when moving.

Jeez man, that's going to be a monster! You should go on a tour of the U.S. and see how many track records you can set.

Man Al, good luck on the mods. I'm a little envious of your cash flow for these kinds of projects.

Yeah, his warranty is so voided by now....

Took the Giulia QV Widebody beast to the racetrack with the modified turbos and new ECU tune for the first time😃
Definitely can feel the extra power I was doing 158mph which is 5 mph faster on the long straightaway. Unfortunately I had scrub tires on and then after the first session before I could switch them I had a radiator hose go out🥲
But I’ll be able to take it to Oregon Raceway Park next weekend and really test it out.
It sounds beastly and it really pulls hard now!😃💪
For comparison the second video is of my Maserati MC20 that I took to the track today also.
Yes it’s a second or two slower than my Alfa Giulia. That’s how fast my Giulia is😃 (MC20 needs better coilovers)

Two days testing out my new modified turbos on the Giulia widebody beast😃
Oh my the high end RPMs are so fast you have to shift so quick or you red line. Beastly top end power now👹
Here’s a short one lap video of my Giulia chasing and catching up to a Ford Mustang FP350S factory race car. And then a longer video with a lot of cars in it most notably at the beginning the orange McLaren 1970s race car!!! Over 600 HP and only 1800 pounds!! The video ends with me catching up and passing the Porsches.. that wasn’t easy!! Next improvement is taking off those scrub tires and putting on some good ones I’ve got new Hoosiers and I’m adding some more negative camber in the front should be all proper then and probably a 3 or 4 seconds faster laptime than what you see here!!
It’s all coming together! There won’t be very many production cars that will be faster than this Giulia!

Amazing video - got a little confusing with the Cayman pointing to let you pass then he kept accelerating vs letting you pass him.

Thanks yeah it really was amazing driving the car now it’s such a beast. I’m going to put a GTAm wing on the back and GTAm front dive panels on it over the winter no use trying to make it a sleeper anymore LOL
It also will give me some more downforce.
Yeah you never know what crazy stuffs going to happen on the race track and that guy actually is a really good driver. I don’t know what the hell he was thinking I was disappointed that he did that. And just think if I was in some momentum car like a Miata LOL!
That’s why you’ve always got to be the boss of yourself and don’t get pressured into doing things you don’t want to do that seem unsafe.
I had to leave early the third day because I had a wastegate problem turns out it was that cheap plastic ring on the throttlebody.
And it was leaking a little bit before it finally blew open so my tune was actually weak during these videos.
So getting the ECU slashed again and replacing the defective plastic throttlebodies with this nice metal one that Eric designed!
I’m also adding more negative camber and putting on new Hoosier slicks (instead of the cheap used racing takeoff slicks I was using) so next time I go out in about a week it’s going to be as fast as it can get!!

Final tracking weekend for the season at ORP Oregon raceway park😃
It’s beginning of fall here but it looks to be excellent weather and finally my GT3RS killer wide body Giulia QV is finally sorted….. for this year at least😂
Seriously I have my modified turbos working proper now and that puts me near the 700 HP at crank level and I have new Hoosier A7 slicks on 305/315 width with -3.5 camber in the front and -2 in the rear.
If everything goes right I should beat my own fast 1:50 lap time record substantially and set a new record for fastest modded production street legal sedan at the track. 😃
Loaded up and on the way now the fun starts tomorrow and goes through Sunday. — at Oregon Raceway Park.
I’m coming for you baby!

A7 are great tires. You should see big improvement.
So, with a heavy heart, I have to announced it. I am no longer doing business with Eric Urness at Ideal Racing.
Amazingly after working with him for two years, trying to help him giving him advice on how to run a business successfully with good customer service I feel he treated me horribly when one of his turbos literally fell apart after only going 10 miles.
He promised to pay for the labor to pull the motor, so the turbos could be replaced with better ones that would last, but he did not.
When I called him on that he said well I’ll give you $1200 instead but he never did that either.
After breaking his word that he gave me in writing several times I then realized that me continuing doing business with him was not a good idea and I said I wanted to put my original turbochargers back in. Five times now in writing he has told me that he would refund the money for the turbo chargers but he would not do it. I had to get PayPal involved and started an investigation that is still ongoing.
I also recently found out that Eric took parts off my car without my permission. And there’s so much more.
I’m not going to say much more right now because I’ve given him a chance to do the right thing and I will see what happens.
Because many people have followed my mods and know that I understand and love Alfa Romeo I think it’s in best interest to let people know I’m going to be using someone else and I never again will do any business with Ideal Racing.

Huh, didn't expect to read that... Hope you two get everything sorted out in a fair manner in the end.

I guess that leaves you only with the option at Manhart and their turbo upgrade... Unless there is someone else doing similar upgrade that I don't know about.

Yeah, it’s extremely depressing. I’m trying to get Eric to come to his senses before I send my attorney on him.
I’ll do a post later on on the differences between his hybrid turbos and the OEM turbos it’s amazing how much stronger the wastegate actuator rod is on the OEM one.
I’ve been contacted by other vendors I’m deciding who I’m going to use, but probably just going to use Jason Minos of Alfissimo because he’s been doing this for a long time with no angry customers and I like his product depth and his professionalism. It’s impressive!
So PayPal sided with me and are forcing Ideal Racing to refund my money.
Eric at Ideal fought the return all the way. Something to think about when you do business with a company is how they will treat you when they have product that falls apart immediately. You also need to be very careful about the safety of the products you use. A modified turbo or poorly done ECU tune can cause a irreparable damage to your motor.
And now I’m excited to be working with Jason Minos at Alfissimo (squadra). His newest ECU tune will be quite a bit more powerful than what I had before and above all reliable. I also ordered a camber kit for my Giulia. Jason works with Rudi Gale at Gale MotorSports over in Europe. I’ve known Rudi for years and he’s a great guy too. Great to be working with good people now.
Very excited for my Giulia QV for next tracking season it’s going to have quite a bit more power and a few nice surprises I will save for later:)
