Spring mods = Porsche GT3RS killer!

And so it begins...
Custom fender flares, 305s in front on 10.5” wheels, 325s in rear on 11.5” wheels, camber kit giving -2.5 camber and new ECUtune, high flow cats, 3” exhaust, carbon intakes giving 650hp. And still very streetable.
BC Forged will have my custom wheels made in about five weeks. Will have all the rest of the other work done by then. Should be a fun spring for me but I imagine a lot of expensive two door sports cars owners are going to be pretty shocked at the track!

Absolutely understand having the ride height for a daily. My car is a daily too and I have 4 inches of ground clearance and I love it! No more smashing the front of my car and driveway ramps and stuff like when I had it lowered. That’s why I really like my KW DDCPNP coilovers you can lower the car a bit and still have a great daily drive ride in natural mode and an amazing track ride in Dynamic or Race mode. They are expensive but they improve the ride in all modes really amazing!
Stock springs are OK but the car has so much power at porpoises on acceleration and then comes slamming down when you brake really hard. This is tough on the brakes and tires. You can manage it by trying to drive smoothly and no hard acceleration or hard brakes it just slows down your lap times though.

Yes you should change the differential fluid about once every 15-20 track days depending on how hard you track.

those micro cracks you see are totally normal. You need to inspect your brakes though all the time and make sure that none of the cracks go to the edge of the rotor or if they’re big and wide enough to hang fingernail on. I’ve gone through about four sets of rings now and only one says it got to the edge but the rings were pretty much worn out by then anyway. Girodisc brakes are so good, GT3 level good! But unless you track a lot the OEM iron rotors are fine just put better pads on of course and better brake fluid. Also changing the brake hoses to stainless steel hoses is a good thing to do if track a lot. Be sure and change the brake fluid often especially if you get the brakes really hot.
Wow the KW kit is not a bad option really if you look at the whole package as 4 factory dampers would run about 2-3k anyways and it comes with coils too! What settings do you run on yours? Are they really plug and play? Just curious.

Yes, I'm running Ravenol 325+ brake fluid and for the 4 events I did at this year, I always bleed all 4 corners out prior to as I wanted to make sure fresh fluid is in the calipers. Safety first! I also run race pads, maybe not as aggressive as yours (EBC blues in rear and PowerStop track day pads in the front), but no issues stopping what so ever though.

I did some research on the cracks and I didn't know that condition was called heat checking. Learn something new every day!

Yes the KWDDCPNP yes about $3500 just the parts.
How do you say you also get new springs.
Actually the only adjustment is right height. is completely plug-and-play. And you can make the car quite low if you want. I have them on both my cars and at the lowest setting I get a lowered look but still have decent ground clearance.
Some of the real benefits is you get the great handling without it making crazy low. I love it having three or 4 inches of ground clearance. At the track sometimes I have to go around a car that stopped on the track on the outside in the gravel or dirt and it’s no problem when you’ve got that much ground clearance. Before when it was low to the ground I would worry about scraping up stuff and damaging my underbody. But not anymore I can drive this thing anywhere even on a dirt gravel road.
With these coil overs you can still keep three or even 4 inches of ground clearance and improve the handling of the car dramatically in all three modes Natural, Dynamic and Race.
Another big benefit is that natural mode is even better than stock natural mode even if you lower the car. I actually enjoy driving around on the street in natural mode😃 It’s super comfy like driving A Mercedes S class almost!
I use my brakes more than most everyone mostly because fully understand them. I regularly inspect them and use the best brake fluid (Castrol React SRF racing brake fluid
Dry 590°F/310°C
Wet 518°F/°270C
So have full confidence in my brakes and I can brake later than most people because I have the best brakes and confidence in them. Also and I can feel how they’re doing. If they’re getting close to fading I can tell and I know exactly how to cool them down so they work good again in the same session.
Many times I have told been told by turn workers that my rotors are glowing orange. Hopefully I’ll get a picture of that someday. That just shows how great Girodisc iron rotors and their racing brake pads are. I’ve been told by professional race car techs that I am braking at mid-level profession racecar level so that’s how hot they’re getting. I’m not bragging about my skills I’m talking about that how hot the brakes get. And look I go out session after session and drive it really hard with no problems.
Of course I do nice cool down laps and I never stop the car while the brakes are smoking hot and I also use a leaf blower to cool them down quickly in between sessions. That 20 V Dewalt leaf blower is awesome as it cools brakes quickly. Comes in handy for quick brake jobs or getting rid of brake dust I also use it to clean out my trailer and even blow the water off my car when I wash it!.

Probably the last tracking for me at ORP (Oregon Raceway Park) this year. It was a members day and pretty big turn out should’ve been some really fast cars because there was some crazy track only cars and Radicals and Ariel Atoms but they either broke down or weren’t running well or they didn’t have very good drivers or it was new to them or something. Kind of sad I was looking for a good challenge but I did have a new but modded Porsche GT4 on racing slicks challenge me. He probably should beat me but he didn’t I was noticeably faster. Mostly the difference in power I imagine. His 420hp vs my 505hp but he is lighter so it should be closer. Both our cars are ECU and exhaust modded so the HP and torque would be higher but not that much but I’m guessing I’m at 600 HP now. His car sounds great!
In the video you can see he doesn’t want to let me pass and he won’t give me a point by so I just wait for the hill and then I just blow past him.
So this is the only video I took.
Hoping to get up to Area 27 for some very end of the season tracking but I might be taking Stelvio QV instead.
What are year I had with the Giuila QV widebody! It was very reliable and I beat or hung with pretty much any car at the track.
So many expensive German two door sports and race cars bested by the Italian sedan😃

That supra is 500lbs lighter, lower and with a wing.. should be faster in that twisty track but the driver is the biggest mod ;)

Never had a Supra, but did admire the early generations, having a much modified AWD Turbo first gen Eclipse myself. The magazines talk about how the latest one has such great handling, but never comment on how ugly they are. All those years and money to build a superlative Supra that has the DNA of the former cars, and look what they did. Not a single good angle to admire on the new Supra. Just plain ugly. I would be embarrassed to be seen in one. I think the Giulia esp the QV, like my own, are just gorgeous cars from every angle. Toyota should have contracted out the sheetmetal design of their Supra to the Italians. NV

It’s possible the supra just had a front and rear body kit on it. But the tires were 265 front 305. But the owner told me it was a widebody kit from China and then he had a body shop put it on and paint it to match.
And 550 wheel horsepower is not stock either!

What an awesome fun looking technical track, like a rollercoaster! Super load speed track layout though with all those turns, was the highest you hit 112MPH? And of course you have a quick car. You are a better driver than the cars you went up against, they were very novice based off their lines. I love my QV, but I know I am getting smoked by any GT3 and/or GT4 unless the driver is terrible.

Any plans to track your MC20, it would be really interesting to see how it compares and holds up!

Last day of tracking trip🤗
And probably will not be driving the Alfas at the track for awhile as busy getting used to a new car. The MC20😃
Taking on a 911 GT3 Cup racecar with a very competent driver🤗
A couple short seasons here. Track still wet so you have to look for the dry driving line 👀

So last Alfa video for awhile. Here we are in the wet with a very nice fast Mini GT👍 also a GT3RS.
I’m on slicks yeahaw🤠

Thought of this thread, I came across a 991 GT3RS on track yesterday at Palmer Motorsport Park.

Got a significant boost of confidence and a reminder that the driver is a significant part of the equation as I blew passed it in my QV! :giggle:

(In fairness, this was in the novice group, and I'm moving up to intermediate for my next event)

Great seeing these videos and getting inspiration!

is Palmer still as, how shall I put this, a bit rough around the edges still??

I'm really only familiar with Lime Rock and Palmer. As a track, I like Palmer better.. To me, Palmer is far more interesting, fairly technical, longer, more elevation changes, no straight lines, you're always working. I'm sure other tracks probably have better amenities. I can definitely see they are putting some money into it. I'm probably going to try and do Palmer at least 2 times a year here on out as it's only 1.5 hours away for me in Boston. I didn't think I was missing anything. I'm doing Club Motorsport Park in the fall so hopefully I'll have more of a frame reference to gauge then.

LRP is my home track, it's where I started & got my competition license many moons ago.
Palmer is bigger than LRP, but then again most tracks around here are, last time I was at Palmer the asphalt was wanting, it reminded me of the New York State Safety Track layout..
great that your having fun with the Alfa at the track!...they ain't just pretty cars ;)

Ha! My custom huge wheels and tires I made for my Giulia QV widebody project actually fit on my Stelvio QV!
305s and 325s on a Stelvio QV... another Call me Al first!
Actually the tire height dimensions are a little too far off to use this on the track a lot so we’re mostly going to use my Giuila Tecnico 19 wheels 265 front 305 rear on the Stelvio QV for tracking. Those tires are 3 inches shorter than the OEM heights so I’ll have a lower gearing with that setup.. I guess that will be another first too! Lots of scientific tire and gearing experiments going on!!
Putting on custom mudflaps.... going to need them! View attachment 96274 View attachment 96275 View attachment 96276 View attachment 96277
