One of the beautiful things about the Giulia is the very quiet and solid feel of the cabin, this characteristic makes it a fantastic cruiser although there is a downside, if a rattling occurs then you can hear it very clearly and very quickly it becomes extremely annoying. Since the first week of ownership I faced the following problem: If the car is parked outside on a sub 10degC temperature and driven in the morning it will produce a rattle that originates between where the speedometer housing meets the infotainment screen. This rattle becomes a true racket noise when you apply some load on the engine between 2800 and 3200rpm with a high gear ( 6speed manual transmission). The engine and exhaust system seem to create a frequency excitation at that particular engine speed range that creates resonance in the cabin so anything that can possibly rattle will rattle then.
If the car in parked in the garage or if its left for a whole morning in the sun then it doesn’t rattle. If I place my finger on rattle source area the rattle stops.
I am tempted to take the car to the dealer but I’m worried that in their effort to solve this rattle they might generate a couple of others (I’m sure most people are familiar with this scenario). Have any other Giulia quadrifoglio owners had this type of rattle? If yes then was the dealer able to solve the issue?

Thanks and regards
Constantine

Judjing by the lack or response should I assume that I am the only one that is facing rattle issues?
Don't know the status of this issue, but you are not alone.

My Quad has just developed this same rattling issue along with rattling from both front interior door handles.

Going to the dealer Oct 16.

Yes I have this issue! I also had numerous number of issues of owning it less then a month. The speedometer lens rattles. And it does seem to be a weather issue. Mornings not really, but mid afternoon it is constant.

Nothing (so far) as loud as my steering at low speeds.

Exactly. It is temperature related. Cold interior = quiet. Hot interior = noisy

Turns out my instrumentation rattle is where the cluster meets the infotainment screen. If I gently apply leftward pressure from the right of the cluster the rattle stops. Also, pressing gently inwards... towards the doors, the interior door handles stop rattling.

Update,
Car went in for its first service and also updates. I reported the rattle to the dealer and they successfully cured it. I had 2 sources of problem, rattle from the binnacle and buzzing high frequency from the rear parcel shelf. Both are now cured and I can just enjoy now.

I have the rattle. Its been discussed here many times. Seems to be worse with the leather dashes. I bought some 8 1/2 x 11 black construction paper. I folded it 6 times in half at the 1/2 inch mark. and slipped it in between the gauge cowl and the leather. Rattle is mostly gone and the black paper melds into the matte black of the plastic well.

I have the leather dash option and had the same exact squeak/creak between the instrument cluster cover (binoculars) and the upper dash leather. I cut a 6 inch off a black leather belt and stuffed it in there carefully. Worked like a charm.

Our Stelvio has the dash rattle (more of a buzz). Same "cure" ie push finger between the bezel and bottom of dash and it stops.
But at least I know where it is.
My real concern is the rattle I get from my Giulia. Sounds like it originates around the passenger seat or the area between the right front and rear door. Anyone experience this?

I’ve noticed if I don’t close the center arm rest storage lid fully it makes a rattling sound but sounds like it’s coming from the front passenger area. Also sometimes when the seatbelt does not fully retract on the passenger side, the clip rattles against the pillar.

Just picked up my wife's yesterday night. On the drive home there is a plastic rattle from the instrument cluster area. Didn't hear this on test drives of two other Giulias nor one Stelvio. Sigh....

Whats the common stance on taking your car in for rattles? I have been taking mine in for a door rattle since delivery and I feel like the service department has had enough of me. Now I have a small fan squeak and I am hesitant to bring it in. I pay way too much attention to minor details.

The cars and one SUV that we test drove didn't seem to have the rattles, so I'm figuring a way to bring it in, (and what to say. Don't really want to wait 1 whole year for the 1st service.) My son was riding shotgun and could hear it, so I'd get someone to confirm the issue and then continue with bringing it in accordingly. (As you note you feel like you're too sensitive.)

Hi jzchen,

Sorry to hear about this! We would recommend going on a ride a long with a service technician or advisor so you can demonstrate where/when you are hearing the rattle. If you need further assistance during your appointment please send us a PM with your VIN and let me know.
